It's beautiful. I love that it has the traditional shape with corners, and the green composite weave pattern is so cool looking.

Thank you for doing this review! There's so little knowledge out there about them, especially from seasoned veterans like yourself. The Glasser violins just jumped up tenfold in my book!

Darol, you should get a couple of your friends together and make a video playing that thing complete with your chopping grooves. Looks like a fine fiddle.

Thanks so much for the review. I've been on the fence about this instrument and the review helped quite a bit.

"You could paddle your canoe and play it later that night with it" or "play it underwater, take it to Mt Everest". 😂 LOVE IT!! Thanks for the wonderful review and the superb playing.

Thanks Carol. Later this year I'll be traveling, living in a van permanently. This could take the environmental changes better than my Realist.

Saw you at Wintergrass a few years ago but not this year. I have a five string NS but I would like an electric violin that looks like a violin.

Very cool. How much trouble would the carbon construction save vs wood? Might it earn itself back in maintenance costs? For the less trained ear, what would you compare the acoustic tone to?

I tried out a Glasser, a Realist and a London AES 5 string, and ended up buying the London AES. All three were nice, but the London was superior for me. Of course, it cost significantly more than the Glasser and the Realist but is totally worth it IMO. The acoustic capabilities of the Realist and the London were significantly better than the Glasser, which is part of what sold me on it.

Hey, I am just thinking about either AES London or Golden Tasman. What´s the style of music you play and do you also use pedals? I think London is passive, right? Thanks a Lot for your answer.

How long do you think the AAA Batteries would last?

About twenty years ago I was sitting in a lecture you gave at the Violin Society of America. You were complaining that no violin makers make five string violins. I am sitting there thinking that I had made a dozen five string violins by that time, many to good, professional folk musicians. Now,here you are reviewing a carbon fiber violin. I’m 77 and still make great acoustic, wooden, traditional violins that sound like violins, and happy I do. Someday contact me for a real violin

Thinking of starting cello, been playing electric bass for years. If I get a carbon cello with whitner pegs I won't have to put up with that luthier BS 😅

It has a good sound but there is a lot of buzz coming from the amp. It seems like the sheilding in the electrics is not very effective. That would definitely put me off.

Why the heck is there 5 strings, what did I miss?
@elizabethrudolph74824 жыл бұрын
5 string violins/violas are not uncommon. My understanding is that it has the E string of a violin, but also the low C of a viola.
@lovinthatmusic4eva4 жыл бұрын
Yep! 5 string is sort of a viola violin hybrid! Considering getting one lately

I just ordered the acoustic version and now I’m wondering can you order the electric Chin rest and bridge separate to upgrade your existing acoustic? just curious

The A & D Strings have room for the tailpiece manufacturer to improve. Something even they don't actually know more than a finished product. Sell it and keep selling without major design improvements.
