The low tones of the Mazur are quite nice, I had not heard that one before. The Dixon is always reliable and should be in every kit. Love these videos.

Thanks. I appreciate it. The Mazur does have a nice tone. I feel like I’m still getting the hang of how it wants the notes played well.

That Rui Gomez reminds me a bit of the Shearwater (full, breathy, and mellow), and sounds like it just needs a bit more push throughout the range to hit those top notes cleanly. I've noticed that a lot of whistles will tolerate underblowing up to the top two or three notes, and then they get rough, but if you push a little harder from the start, and maybe pull the slide out a bit more, you can get the whole range to sound cleanly. The rest of the whistles, particularly the Dixon, are more air efficient and require less push and more precision. I suspect the Rui Gomez takes noticeably more air to play than the others.

Nathaniel, thanks for saying. I think you’re right. I’m at times reluctant to push it too loud because of the volume in the recording, but that doesn’t do justice to the whistle.

They all sound beautiful, and I am quite content that I have a Tony Dixon. I listened just out of curiosity, because I don’t want to buy any more whistles. I also have a wild Irish. Both of these I really love. I am really amazed at how good the Tony Dixon sounds for as inexpensive as it is

I come from Native American flute so I prefer the wooden harmony high D. However the particular whistle I got had a rough mouthpiece so I returned it. I like my Tony Dixon tneable high D but the high G sounds a bit shrill. But I am fairly new at this and everyday sound a little better. You make them all sound really good. I like the tone of the metal ones but prefer the FEEL of wood or polymer. How abot Carbony?

Thanks for saying. I do not yet have a Carbony high D. I will soon
