6 was bad AS a horror game and AS a RE game. Sure, it can be fun with another friend, but that’s it, the shooting is alright for a RE game, it’s better than RE7’s shooting definitely. But it’s not better than RE4’s shooting for example. It’s an okay game that should’ve been its own thing. As for RE7 i think the decision they made was bold, but it worked out very well and i was generally suprised, my hopes for the RE series becoming a horror survival series where up again. I’m just glad the remake is bringing it back to basics, but with a twist a good twist that modernizes the game and makes it stand out from it’s ps1 predecessor. This gamplay style should’ve been RE6’s gameplay style. RE6 should have been a whole other thing, the end product was just disappointing to hardcore fans, but it was okay for new players. which was probably their intention. To bring in new people. As for RE7 and the remake. They’re a love letter to the fans who pulled through. BTW these are my personal opinions, please don’t get triggered. The explanation for why his hand was healed was explained through a random gameplay encounter where Mr Baker cuts off your “leg”? Idk it’s a limb of some sort and forces you to crawl to him where he’ll give you the healing stuff and apparently the components in it regenerates the tissue. And that’s the science behind the herbs in the resident evil universe. It has regenerative properties. *Edit* now that RE8 has come out it’s confirmed now that the ability of regenerating limbs is a combination of the juice, and the fact that he’s a mold. Not just infected but a mold all together.

Both aren't that great imo. 2 Remake 2 lacks enemy variety (removed tarantulas, crows, moths, and the plants are just zombies now...so there's only zombies, lickers, mr x, and G mutants) no scenarios/zapping (wouldn't bring this up if it weren't a remake and if there wasn't a "perfect" remake prior, that being RE1 for gamecube.) and even a story that makes sense. SPOILERS: Mr X is killed halfway through Claire's campaign but of course lasts through Leon's, and there's plenty of other stuff they decided to retcon for the worst (Ada always falls now...and she wouldn't get her grapple until far later! You fight Birkin 1, 2, and 3 in the same places for every campaign...WTF.) RE7 similarly suffers with a variety of enemies but even has bland/unlikable characters. The story...it may as well not be Resident Evil this time. Yes it brings back puzzles and survival (less inventory), but so do the classics, and imo classic RE2 is still the best. But RE6, 5, and others like Revelations 2 are amazing for the sheer amount of exciting content that will keep players busy for weeks.

18:28 actually, the story explanation for that is that Ethan is infected with the same virus as the bakers, which is why he has hallucinations of the little girl at the end of the game. He just doesn't turn into a monster because it takes a while for the infection to fully evolve and transform him. And killing the little girl/grandma basically cured the virus because she was the one controlling it
@maysen512 жыл бұрын
That’s not explained in re7 also in re7 the family stated it didn’t take long for her to control em. She doesn’t rlly control u she pushes ur mind toward insanity until u break and obey her. This is wat happened to the family they were driven insane and she kept using their mind against em to cause insanity which made em the way they are. In re7 u the protagonist only suffers from her mind affects during late game note unlike the rest of the family u urself are completely dead I’ll give u an example in re0 the antagonist is a leech queen who devoured her creator and gain his memories/ everything to the point she is an exact copy of her creator however she isn’t rlly him just rather a clone. Ethan was killed which means the mold consumed him and reconstructed as him in a sense he is not ethan. Re8 explains this when the 1st game’s antagonist states u are nothing but mold it’s not her saying u are infected it’s her basically stating u are not Ethan but a mold who spreaded throughout his dna and became him.

But sadly this entire story tho re7-8 is not consistent and has a plot hole. There are massive cases that proves that Ethan is just a mold replica but the thing is the antagonist never controlled him when she had direct control of pure molded creatures. What’s worse is none of the re game viruses can revive the dead they only make a replica or keep said individual Alive until zombifying is completed. If u get infected by the t virus but aren’t killed before the infection entered ur nerve system the t virus will start its mutation with ur brain putting u in a vegetable like state to prevent u from dying then it will zombify u. As far as I know the mold in re7 has no reviving effects which just further proves Ethan is not the one we play as in the beginning of re7

@@somethingelse1388 okay I’ll put in short terms. Re7: Ethan is a mold replica u play as the original Ethan at the beginning of the game. Re8: the antagonist of part 7 explains u are a mold replica not the original Ethan u were killed by dad , and the mold reconstructed ur body becoming a replica.

@@somethingelse1388 and for some Easter eggs: this kind of feat was done for the antagonist of re0 James Marcus both him and Ethan share the same fate that being 1: both of em were killed 2: both were cloned by a virus Marcus was copied by the leech queen and Ethan was copied by the mold that reconstructed his body.

Yo, they actually explained why you could just “staple” a hand back on. At one point, jack baker can cut off your foot, and it was the first aid juice that regenerates the tissue
@SeventhheavenDK4 жыл бұрын
The "juice" works, because he is infected, it is not the juice alone. Still, very lame.
@KitKatWiffleBallBat4 жыл бұрын
I also inferred it was the fact Ethan was infected, just not 100% infected. He hallucinates Evelin, which means he has it. Having the mold in you, allows light regeneration. Combine this with the herbs and the fact it was freshly severed, it was able to be reattached. Later Lucas gets his hand chopped off by Jack and grows it back. They grow back fingernails. Hell, even Jack can regenerate flesh after being burned alive, and shot in the face with a pistol. It's all there. One just has to be observant and connect the dots.

I enjoyed the review, although my opinion wasn't seamlessly in line with it. Re6 doesnt get appreciated for what it is because of what people feel it should be, and I think that's fair enough, since it's an RE title and should be able to be judged as such. fun fact: many people criticized the fact you have to replay the crossover sections, but what they don't realize is: A) most can be skipped by exiting to the menu and moving one chapter section further B) the campaigns aren't supposed to be played in order, but in any order and any way you want. if you wanna play Leon's first chapter and then 4 of Jake's and finally all of Chris's, the game just gives you a thumbs up. C) these crossover sections allowed players to actually crossover with other players playing the other campaign. for example, in the Leon X jake section, you could be playing with a buddy on Leon's campaign and play with someone who was playing Jake's with their own buddy, effectively making the player count 4, and it could be brought even higher if you had agent hunt on (upon looking it up, it says that 4 players can join at the same time. EFFECTIVELY MAKING THE CAMPAIGN A 4v4/2v4 GAME WAT), which in it of itself is an AMAZING addition. i actually was playing once and had someone join in as helena, only for then 2 players to join as creatures. it was really fun actually.

A lot of people criticised RE6 and that makes me feel bad for the developers... The game is far from perfect, but it's enjoyable and gamer's double standard irritates me tremendously. Let's rewind back to the context of the game: RE4 was a huge success, back when it was released it was a successful transition from the older formulas that PEOPLE COULD NOT BEAR ANYMORE. Nowadays it would be considered too similar with the wave of gritty TPS but back then it was what people wanted. RE5 was then made to build upon that success with the added co-op. It received a lot of criticism for sticking too close to RE4 formulas and to paraphrase "still having sort of outdated tanky controls". Buy a lot praised the co-op. So RE6 was the natural evolution, the answer to RE5 criticism from the press but also from the gamers. Even if you hate the game you can't deny the amount of work that went into it. From the numbers of playable characters, the lengthy story mod, the pretty expansive and technical gameplay and all the side content, it is simply incredible. Nowadays half of this would be lock behind some DLC. Yet the game got murdered. And honestly, RE story was always B movie stuff, why even criticize something that was always part of the series and arguably made its charm?
@redplanet6676 жыл бұрын
I've often thought that developing RE6 was a difficult task, RE5 was the biggest selling game in the series so what do you do next? Go back the survival horror? RE zero was the last classic style Resi that they made and it was a commercial flop and was also heavily critisized so what do you think the higher management of Capcom are going to tell the developers to do, make a Resi zero style game that will probably flop or make another Resi 5 style game that has a much better chance of making lots of money, obviously they tried to replicate the success of 5, who wouldn't, as for 7 I'm not a huge fan I agree with this review it's very generic and feels like a spin off game that was made purely to experiment with vr, they should've just called it Resident evil vr and been more honest, I am hopeful that Resident Evil 2 will be much better

I agree with the double standard being annoying. They put so much content, and if it is fun, which it most certainly is, then THAT'S A GOOD THING. Even when you have made some amazing points for 6, I can't bring myself to like it. As you said, it's insanity, but a funny insanity. It's a call of duty mod with the characters we know and love. It lacks the essence of a RE. In the original trilogy, the insanity was meant to be disturbing. Even the action packed 4 used the craziest shit (like Salazar's fight) to put you in a situation of "how the hell do I get out of this one". RE6 just uses insanity to not repeat the same character models from a previous game. The lack of atmosphere and fast paced gameplay disrupts the story progression. RE7 on the other hand... Yeah, it's scarier but you made it perfectly clear. It's too watered down

I was totally surprised and confused when at the end of RE 7 the man who just descended from a helicopter and took off his helmet introduced himself as "Redfield". Firstly, I wondered if that was actually Chris Redfield and secondly, if he was then why did he look so much different? I guess Capcom changed his character design once again for RE 7.
@blueblank82875 жыл бұрын
I've got to admit, while I agree with or at least empathize with most of your points (though I'm also admittedly just plain speaking as someone whose current favorite RE game is 7 - 4 and Code: Veronica are right behind - and whose second least favorite after Revelations 2 is 6, though I still understand the appeal), I disagree about the tone feeling confused or like it was struggling with itself in 7 - heh, I was honestly worried the first time I played it that it /was/ going to be too grimdark-serious, but I felt like the campy cheese you expect RE to have was there as soon as I saw a guy respond to getting his arm chopped off with a whiny "Not /again!/" I get how that... might have been thrown off for you, though, by... what you mentioned about how the first section of the game is really intense nonstop /without/ any of those campy elements apart from, maybe, "pick up your severed hand"; the fact that the game was still going to be kind of tongue-in-cheek probably could have been "baked in" more thoroughly. The fact that you bring up that "people love RE for the characters" actually... also weirdly makes me realize another reason 7 grabbed me better than 6 did - personally, I never really cared that much about most of the series's mainstay characters. Like, in 6, Leon is a cool and likable dude, and all, and I was happy to see Sherry again (partly because, man, how often does RE bring back non-main characters, where the hell has Billy gone, I liked the guy) and was interested in seeing what her dynamic with Jake would be like with them being the good-guy kids of two evil screwed-up-best-friends, but apart from that? Chris is just a dang action-hero archetype (also a reason I can't help but... not care about the different look he has in 7; wouldn't be the first time by far an RE character's look got tweaked just "depending on the game"), and I couldn't help but not be invested in or curious about Piers and Helena because of my usual lack of interest in the RE series's player characters. The whole multiple-campaign structure then... kinda I guess subconsciously like it was trying to make me answer and therefore put emphasis on the question of "which of these people's stories do you care about the most?" and the ultimate answer was "none of them" - and yet it /is/ still true that my favorite part of RE has always been the characters, except in my case, I've always been most interested in and curious about the /villains/ with how weird they get and how prominent their schtick gets, while still understanding that apart from Wesker, they've always been kind of... monster-of-the-week. There didn't really seem a lot /to/ the villains of 6 to me - more did indeed feel driven by "HERE, LET'S TOSS AN AWESOME MONSTER YOUR WAY, NOW KILL IT" when it comes to the horror (and pff, god, fully admitting also that a major weakness of 7 was the ridiculously-limited range of monster types - each is effective for the first leg of the game it's introduced in, but it's easy to "learn your way around them" really fast) - while... 7 seemed "about" the Bakers in a way I don't really feel like any other RE has been in the past except for, like, C:V (which, pff, might be another reason it's in my top three), with not only how present they are but how much they drive the whole aesthetic and atmosphere of the game. ...Also saying outright that I liked them enough that I did pay for the DLCs to spend even more goddang time with them and said DLCs are a blast, but 'ey, I also get criticizing... DLC tactics for things that aren't just blatant fun fanservice like some of Mass Effect's DLCs instead of just making minigames "unlockable modes". TL;DR, but anyway, yes, interesting analysis and discussion! I apologize for the length of that, and you're always very witty!

RE6 is amazing, the first in a long time to allow a player to play as multiple characters and this time the stories interlock, the characters we know are now seasoned the new characters are brought into the world of bio-terror, and the amount of call backs to previous entries is beautiful, it's such a fun and we'll made game, so what it's not survival horror, the characters have evolved and so have the games to suit the protagonists, how many games do that? RE6 tried a lot of new creative ideas, and though not all of them worked Capcom still made a very good game that was enjoyable, due to how unique this game is it has become one of my favourite in the series and games overall.

I haven't actually played either game (love the series though, thanks to KZbin), but I know that shooter games are not my own personal style. I like the slightly more laid back, slow on action style you've described RE7 as having, while RE6's consistent fighting sounds really frustrating to me. I do definitely agree that it gets really boring to see those goop monsters Eveline makes over and over again; even that felt like too much shooting for me, if that explains my game style well xD Honestly, that might be one of the reasons why I fell completely in love with Outlast when I first discovered it- zero player controlled fighting, which keeps me much more immersed in the story
@TheRewinderCC4 жыл бұрын
Very true! Possessing a gun in survival horror games gives you a reason to feel LESS scared rather than being scared for whats to come. It gives you a reason to fight and be more defensive rather than running away and being scared for your life. Outlast does this perfectly. You only have your camera and your navigation wits to get out alive which make it terrifying.

To be honest, if you were to ask me about RE6 when it came out, I would agree with the majority that it was the worst in the series, but after having re-played it this year with my best friend, I can't do but totally disagree with my own opinion from a few years ago. RE6 honestly isn't as bad as we made it out to be. RE7 is amazing too, but I feel like it's trying to use what RE once was, instead of something new, which ends up making it not have it's own identity. That doesn't make RE7 inherently bad, not at all, but it's just so much more fun to play the, balls to the wall action-shooter that is RE6. On a side note, playing RE6 with a friend, truly gives some awesome gaming experinces that other games can't do, and especially not RE7. But at the end of the days, both of these amazing games can be summarised up like this: RE6: An amazing action-zombie shooter game RE7: An amazing survival-horror game
@Goblin_Hands5 жыл бұрын
The fact that you didn't even play it co-op before tells me you never gave it a fair shot and "agreed with the majority." The bad title at the time was Operation Raccoon City, not RE6.
@jannik26815 жыл бұрын
@@Goblin_Hands I've practically only played it with a friend, although I have played it both with my friend and a few times alone, to the point that I have around 90% achievements for it. So I would say I gave it a fair chance. Considering I've almost done everything it has to offer. I've replayed it co-op again this year, both me and my friend just this time around came to the conclusion that the game is great in of itself, and it's a fun, chaotic shooter, which makes it so much more awesome. So replaying it just changed our point of view on it. I don't agree with the majority just because it's the majority, I actually review and think of games as they are, and at the time being back then, I just had a different view point on it, but have grown into loving it, for what it is. Also what gave you the idea I've never played it with a friend? I didn't say that, I said I replayed it this year with a friend. That doesn't mean I didn't play it co-op back then, for a fact I only played it co-op back then. Only this year I gave it a shot playing solo, and of course replaying it with my friend.
