Comparing the DNC and RNC roll call process

The roll call process at the Democratic National Convention featured music by musicians from each state being called out. Some are comparing that process with the Republican National Convention roll call in July. CBS News campaign reporter Aaron Navarro has more.

When I was a kid in the 1960s, I used to watch the Democratic and Republican national conventions. I can't remember details but don't remember the RNC being particularly boring. Is the 2024 one an anomaly? When did it get boring? I didn't bother with the RNC this year, because I'm really angry with the MAGA Trumpian infestation of the GOP. The Republicans need to split into MAGA and the rational Republicans. The Democrats need to win Congress and the White House for as long as it takes for the Republicans to regroup and remember how governing works. I actually searched KZbin so I could watch the full DNC roll call, because they were always fun to watch. They went all out this year at the DNC, wasn't expecting a DJ! The crowd so far seems like a pretty happy bunch, which is how I remember conventions being in my extreme youth. The DNC seems packed to the rafters, and apparently the same was true for the associated event in Minnesota.

DNC brought the fun, joy and optimism back. They raised the bar for the delegate roll call part of the event,- what a blast that was to watch! That part is usually the most boring part (like what you saw at the RNC here) but betweeen the hype songs, the enthusiasm to speak/pledge and the diversity represented across the delegates, the presentation was something special this time.

The DNC roll call was the perfect representation of who the American people truly are.....empowering, fun, diverse, energetic, determined and full of a desire to enjoy life. We as Americans love to get up and dance, love to cheer each other on, love to hear each other laugh and sing. Instead of just waiting to talk, people were enthused to hear what their neighbors had to say. In America we get up and dance, we wear cheese hats, we boast about the great histories of our communities and love to have a good time!!
