I’ve had the sog for at least 10 years. It’s been sitting a while but I remember beating on that thing, chopping ect and it held up nice. Primarily use it for digging at the beach now, sand get all in it but it’s easily enough maintained. That being said I would like to get one of those usmc surplus ones but 50 buck seems a lot.

Great video. I've used the SOG for quite a while, as a truck shovel it's held up well.

SOG has 2 open positions (90 and 180 deg) while Glock has 3 (90, 135 and 180 deg). 135 deg position gives more comfort when digging sand or snow.

I have the Glock e-tool, prefer the larger head on it compared to other e-tools because it can move more snow and the larger surface would help if I had to put it under a tire for traction if I ever get stuck.

The smaller head concentrates the force for harder soils.

Sog looks more compact and would be easier to carry. If I need something bigger I would use a regular sized shovel.

I am actually thinking if trading out my SOG for the Glock. Ive had my SOG for YEARS and its helped me before/during my military time.

I personally prefer the Glock but I also see value of the smaller head of the SOG that makes it more useful for smaller digs. So it really depends what you will need to use it for.

I’ve been looking for the one I used in the early 80’s, while assigned to 1/75 INF. It had the pic axe too just like the SOG. I believe it was made by AMES, however, I can’t find one with the pick axe.

My 2 Ringgit's worth. Get the shovel head, fashion a handle in the jungle, when you're done, remove the handle and save yourself space and energy. "Knowledge Before Gear".

@MultiThunder1234 Thanks. In the case of these specific shovels, I don't think the time, energy, and safety considerations are worth the 200grams saved. But I agree if it is the old style ET plate heads.

The SOG looks cheap but has more features. As for the Glock, I hate anything by Glock. It's just my thing. I can't stand all the Glock lovers drooling over anything they make. I don't want a water pistol that shoots bullets, I want a metal gun.

lmao I hate shooting glock pistols but even I know you're a moron. Id take a glock over any other pistol if I just had to grab one and go or get issued one.

Yout thing is your thing. Glock pistols are durable and leightweight. You don't have to love it, just use.
