M.D. Corrosion-X is the bomb for rust prevention. It even stops my needle nose pliers from rusting while wade fishing in salt water. It's safe for most plastics also. Academy has the best price that I've found.

I bought one on my own. It seems pretty good from the revuews. The sheath is pretty bad. But, if you're just throwing in the back of your truck or backpack, it'll work. The bugest negative is that it doesn't have a handle that allows you to twist it back and forth. I wish Glock had put a T shaped habdle on it.

Great honest review. The problem with the saw is it cuts on the push stroke it should cut on the pull stroke.

I think this saw is more for cutting below-ground roots (like near a tree for your Dakota fire hole) and in that regard being able to use your body weight on the push stroke is helpful. For cutting above-ground from the waist and up the pull-stroke teeth like the Silky Gomboy are better. Should probably carry both :)

Love yer website! Great content :) I'm partial to the cold steel shovel but I do like how that one folds to be pick-like. I like the true-temper picks. The ones with the spoon shaped heads. I think the glock digs well because of the spoon shaped and pointy tip. The size is good.

Good to see an honest review of a tool that could get some serious abuse in the field. Thank you for the video MD. For me, this is a tool to keep tucked away in the truck just in case. I could not justify the weight in a pack. Back home in central New Hampshire, you could dig a few inches in the topsoil and then you hit a hard packed material that reminded me of cement that was almost but not quite fully cured. You had to chip it out in small pieces and then it would break up in your hand. Here in the Philippines, at least in my area, we have very rocky soil that is again, very difficult to dig into. No sense in packing a tool that likely will not see any use on a hike. I do see this as a great and reliable aid in the event the truck (or another's vehicle) gets stuck on a back road so I am up for one to keep in the emergency kit.

Yes, sir... as Bruce Lee said use what is useful... that's why everyone's survival kits, bug out bags, and plans will be slightly different... because situations and locations are different.

Much of the review has the parts you're talking about and work being done off camera. Most shovels that contain a saw call it a root saw because it is intended for cutting of roots - not for cutting tree branches. Roots are held still in the ground while cutting but tree branches are not held steady.

Thanks for the review. I have one that I have not used. It may still have a place in my GHB.

It digs and shovels great... the saw isn't all that useful... but might work better on dead branches...

I have a decent folding bow saw for that; might just pull it out to save weight.

That was a 10/8 round for the tree, lol. Was expecting you to pull your sidearm to finish the job. Enjoy your content.

There's so much moisture in the air in the UK rust will get to every metal thing that goes outside even if it is never in the rain. I usually WD-40 everything when new, let that dry for a day or two before I oil it. Outside of carbon or chinesium steel most never need WD-40 again.

Not much experience, not real review.

LOL. Yep, you caught me... I don't have any experience using a shovel... not a real review... despite the fact that there it is a real review.

@@MDCreekmore Great review!! Always good to have one in truck, car, ATV or back pack. If needed to use one time, it pays for itself. I like the Glock style shovel better after seeing this. Thank you!!
