They sound about the same. In a blind test, it'd be hard to distinguish them from each other. That said, I did prefer the Marshall AFD 100 because it was slightly darker and tighter than the others.

I would be happy with any of them....

2555x 1:05 Really warm. The Ceriatone 2555 was next and a toss up to the AFD100.

thanks for posting 👍 I was actually thinking about Ceriatone but it sounds like Ceriatone just doesn't have that Marshall's punch, clarity and body

Ceriatone '67 modded Superlead sounded the best to my ears. Great recorded tone. What mods were done to it? Was it done by Ceriatone or afterwards? Thanks for the comparisons!

I'm thinking of building an AFD. I currently run a Silver Jubilee and King Kong 50W for Marshalls. I was using the same 2X12 & 1X12 cabinets loaded with 2X 30W Greenbacks or 1x 65W GB for both amps when playing at home or recording. I've been using the Jubilee as a base amp for running a multi-amp setup (using the Jubilee for everything and layering a Dumble clone/ Plexi over it, ala Joe Bonamassa). However when I was using the Jubilee on by itself with the band found that it worked much better with Vintage 30's. The Jubilee is a pretty dark amp, and with the Greenbacks I had to use the bright switch or run an EQ in the loop to get it to cut through the mix, or else it got lost. I find the Jubilee is my favorite high gain Marshall, ESPECIALLY with single coil Strat /Tele's. The darker tone with the brighter SC's just complimented each other. in regards to the JCM 800s, I really like the early 80s single channel amps over the later amps with the pull knob gain boost. I find the later ones to be too brash, and were just too bright with Vintage 30's with the higher treble response.

Which mode did you used for the Yeti btw?

The AFD100 sounds the closest to the AFD sound, the Marshall 2555 & Ceriatone 2555 sound closer to Slash's live rhythm sound from 88-93. I have an AFD100 myself, and it's great when you're jamming by yourself. Haven't tried it live yet, unfortunately. They all sounded good, except for the 800. I love the 800, but it sounds too fizzy for me with a GNR type sound dialed in.

Thats cuz the 800 wasnt meant for gnr sound and more of early maiden and priest!

You have to say that cause you bought one. But really, you liked the ceriatone 2555. We know.

Wow, all those Ceriatones 👏 2555 sounds phatest to me... They all sound fantastic...which is your go to Amp? I have a 100w Leviathan that kills and an OTS 20 that's amazing, I can even metal that Dumble lol... Great tones man, Ceriatone rules

Ceriatone's are built better. I mean hand wired on a turret board. Mine is a King Kong with one channel wired as '67 plexi, and the other a Yeti. Love the tone. It's dead quiet too.

2555x and AFD100 sound like pro recordings, no comparison.

Fuck that Ceriatone 2555 is close! What settings is it dialed in on?
