Compassion Prison Project aims to heal, transform incarcerated people's lives

Donovan State Prison is the next stop on the map for the Compassion Prison Project, a nonprofit geared toward promoting trauma-informed communities inside prisons.
CBS 8 spoke with the founder about the healing that's inspiring real change in and outside of prison. The Compassion Prison Project has worked with thousands of men and women and has hosted the Trauma to Transformation workshop at 17 California prisons.

And that’s what this program is all about. Breaking the cycle. Becoming self aware. If you ever have time, read actor Danny Trejo’s book, free at the library. It’s very inspirational. They don’t ALL recommit. The CA recidivism rate since 2012 has held steady at 44-46%.

That is absolutely not true! I have known quite a few former inmates who have left prison to go on and lead an honest, law biding life.
