Games definitely not dead but it could have been so much more and had an even bigger fanbase had they directed the game better and weren't so scummy both inside and outside the game Also people still emulate overwatch's gameplay because design wise theres nothing you need to change when making a class/hero-based shooter they already have the base formula down perfectly all other developers need to do is add onto that idea so its not that overwatch is being copied because its good its being copied because it already perfected the base formula don't fix it if its not broken

Agreed, but there is a massive content drout, way moreso than other popular fps games. Not just with new content, but also their plans of fixing and tuning current stuff like maps and heroes. We've been hearing about a reaper rework since the end of last year, where is it? We get one map rework every 4-5 months, there are heroes that came out a long time ago that still have little to no additional skins. We're still getting sourveniers in the battlepass, we don't get any new arcade modes (just the rare event modes).

Hot Take: The problem isn’t that Blizzard wants to monetize skins, it’s that they just suck at it. Fortnite is what inspired the FTP model yet it seems companies are so dense that they can’t see what makes Fortnite’s model work, which is affordability. If you make 1 10 dollar purchase on Fortnite you can theoretically FTP the entire game whilst still earning vbucks and skins you like. And those skins are also usually only like 12 bucks. Meanwhile OW2 is selling recolors for 22 bucks which has absolutely no integrity

what epic games are good at are making a game which gets content updates very often alongside all the skins and cosmetics, whereas with overwatch we get overpriced skins often and "content" updates very very slowly

@@FishyTheKid The content quantity and quality differences bewtween Fortnite and OW2 is massive. Out of all of the issues OW2 has, I think if they fixed this content drout, the game would be received better and we wouldn't complain as much about not having 6v6 or a netflix series.

Hot Take: bring back/do more Overwatch themed merchandise like shirts, figures and so on, so that we can support the game without spending 20€ on colored pixels. I know there is some merch going around but its often badly promoted or not at all. The revenues might cover a possible future cut to in-game prices (which would lead to more skins sold) and then everyone wins!

Toasty has either never played a F2P game besides OW or spends all their money in OW. There's a reason why they got sued because of their initial shady business model when OW2 was launched with the new shop. And the fact they started changing how the battlepass works. People who only play OW for comp don't care enough about it to make a "hot take" against people that complain about skins. My dude forgets the majority are casual players and thats where the money is.

Hot Take: The best part of the old 2 CP game mode wasn't actually that it was 2 CP but that the asymmetric maps allowed for more hero diversity to be played. Now in OW2 almost all the maps feel similar and enable similar heroes/comps leaving a lot of slower or more static heroes behind. Having a game mode like 2CP (but not exactly 2 CP) with an asymmetric design would allow for heroes like Sym/Torb/Junk etc... to have a place without having to be buffed and give people a chance to play something different every now and again.

It's not about how strong or weak Sombra is, it's about how annoying she's to play against. Especially in QP, when people swap to Sombra almost every time after losing a fair duel.

Hot Take: My take on skins is yes, its optional. However, its become extremely overpriced. Like to get both ana's mythics plus levels is like $140. It's outrageous. Most skins should be around the $3-5 and make the mythics plus their levels like $15, there's a reason walmart is so successful, because if you undercut the competitor, more people will buy your wares. I think it's a win-win, people get more skins and blizzard will make more money.

On the first point. Blizzard removed much of their staff recently, cutting back on costs. They are trying to maximize profits with as little expenditure as possible. Not a bad thing in itself, but they are relying on expensive skins for their income, not creation of new content. They even cut back on pve and other content they promised in their new overwatch game. The take is not hot, because its completely missing the point of why skins are bad for the game and it's players rn.

That take that mentioned that OW should stop shilling to casuals and low ranks really needs to learn that A LOT of multiplayer games would be ghost towns if it wasn’t for casual players. The high rank/pro players are honestly a very small part of the total community. This is not to that some companies over tune it sometimes, but if you want to completely cut off the casual market, you are basically asking that game to die. It’s a very fine balance. Also you never know when a low rank actually has a good idea to improve the quality of life.

Hot Take: Hanzo lowkey needs an ability rework (and maybe significant primary fire changes to go along with that, too). Storm Arrows are fine and functional, but it's just boring and I think Hanzo should fit more into a trick arrow archer archetype, rather than just a more versatile yet inconsistent sniper than Widow. Whatever new ability it could be, it should give Hanzo more utility rather than just more raw damage (so basically, don't give him back his scatter arrow), in order to balance out the fact that he's a projectile hero that can be quite inconsistent. And to compensate for this, they could reduce the damage and charge time of his primary fire.

People don't hate Sombra cause she's OP or even strong, she's just annoying and the fun police. It gets magnified if your focused for the match since she can basically instant transmission to you. It's like someone sitting behind you & flicking your ear every 2 minutes, it's irritating and sure you can change seats but they'll just follow you.

Hot Take: Pickable passives would work wonderfully on the base game, but only if these passives are hero-specific, have downsides (so not selecting a passive is valid), and change the playstyle of the hero itself. Generic passives dont need to exist except the healing over time one.

Also what high risk? She tp’s into perma invis for FREE. Over and over. The second she’s in danger she will tp out and then be right back behind you then do it again and again. Or wait till your engaged in a fight and hack you will you’re fighting someone else etc. you’re really not getting it

My hot take is that OWCS or whatever’s replacing the League should do more than 5v5 Role Queue. Make them play some matches in Open Queue, some in Mystery Heroes, some in Low Gravity. Maybe not Total Mayhem but I think that changing the game mode once in a while would lead to more interesting matches.

Hot take: buffing characters with high skill ceilings like Doomfist, genji, ball, tracer, etc makes the players who have mastered them earn insanely more value compared to casual players. For example I remember that one time Doom got a slight buff for a week. One tricks were damn near invincible and it wasn't long until he was nerfed. Every game had a doom in it, even people who have never played the hero I think buffing characters like genji makes the game alot more annoying, all these characters should stay in a decent category and should never be meta (besides tracer because shes always s tier)

I COMPLETELY get being bummed that the game is balanced around comp. As someone who got really good in competitive fighting games, it sucked seeing fun mechanics/tech get nerfed to try to reach a "balanced" state where nothing could be too much better than anything else. It feels like it homoganizes playstyles

Doesn't matter how good sombra is, her kit is just annoying to fight against. She could be the single worst character in the entire game, I could win every duel against her, she could have 0 kills, but she'll still be annoying just because invis + hack + dot is not a fun combination to fight against

Sombra and widow stand out to me as the dps heros who demand the most drastic playstyle changes from the enemy with just their mere presence. u still have to be good to win with them but there’s a more noticeable non active pressure thats applied from someone picking them and its frustrating for most ppl to play against, similarly to roadhog. I personally feel like playing against a widow feels way more “fair” bc you can actually see her but sombras perma invis playstyle revolves around her being a near “omnipresent” threat in the minds of ur enemy without having to actively do anything to achieve that like every other character. even if shes not that strong shes annoying to play against and not as engaging as she should be to play i hope the stealth rework strips away some of that power and puts it into her abilities skill expression

Hot Take: Metal players often benefit from playing like their rank instead of a rank above. Example: metal lobby never takes high ground but you think to do it to gain an advantage. You hold improperly and gave the enemy team the idea to do it and they hold it better against your team than when you tried it.

Hot Take: Quick Play should not have 'Skill Based Match Making' because that's what Competitive games are for, matches based on your Skill Level. Quick Play is supposed to be like a Quick Match where you will be matched up with anyone who's queuing at the time, regardless of skill level (eg. Bronze and Masters on the same lobby)

Hot take: Dps should be the weakest role because they do not have “responsibilities”. People will also play DPS regardless as they have the most fun heroes. (Genji, Widow, Tracer etc…) Having strong supports or tanks encourages team play. The community just needs to learn that it is okay to shoot supports when available. In no world should a tank lose to a DPS 1v1, unless they are outranged.

Well I agree Tank and support should be more the stronger, Dps still has responsibilities, they are about pressure, distraction and picks. Tanks are about space creation, generated damage for your dps to get picks and getting some picks yourself if you are someone like dva for example. support is about being the glue, you are there to help where its needed, whether it be healing, pressure, or picks. it is the all around role (which is why its my favorite role, i only play the heros i love on the other 2, but support ill play who i think is needed because i find being a support is fun no matter the hero, because i just love what supports do)

He is right though. I’m assuming you’re in a lower elo because in higher ones, sombra does not hold an entire game “hostage.” Learn to play around your team, don’t run off solo. You’ll be fine

It's just a hidden rank with a looser system for matchmaking. Placing people of a perceived skill together in a lobby, but there's more allowed variance

Let me fix that title… Comp and QP should be balanced by fixing matchmaking. Tweaking numbers on characters shifts who we play as but doesn’t actually make the game balanced. If the 2 highest ranked players on either team are on different roles, the match itself cannot be balanced. Specifically for tank. You can’t have the tank as the lower ranked player. It does not work and is frustrating af as a support player. If my dps or fellow support is lower rank, that’s fine. That can be overcome. Having your tank not know how to take cover while spamming heal me is ruining the experience for the whole team.

It's also that there are less tanks so in turn less good tanks. Ranking up as tank has the least competition so in theory when you are say plat in tank your are probably still gold level in reality. The tanks inherently are less good in their rank than the other players.

Hot take: there should be seperate skin design teams for casual players and whales. Say 5 times as many people buy skins if they are 4 times cheaper, that's a profit. Then you have skins that appeal to only 10% of the playerbase, but they are wiling to pay 100x more than anybody else (the Mercy/Kiriko crowd). That's a profit too. Just partition the production side to reflect the consumer base.

@@Woopinah but I’m not even doing that. I’m playing once every 3 months to play the new seasons and they aren’t ever worth playing more than a couple times and then not touching. I have played a collective 3 times this whole year and all at different times. I don’t care about balance I don’t care about what micro changes they made. It feels like the same game with the same characters getting the same-ish skins. I’m bored. My friends are bored. No one I know is playing this game for more than a week every few months. And now with the new skins coming out looking trash or giving them to the same characters as before, it’s not even worth that. Idk maybe when we get next season we’ll get a fun game mode or something.

Hot Take I think people have always exaggerated the size of Hanzo's arrow hitbox just out of frustration of getting outplayed and not wanting to give any credit to the Hanzo. The problem has always been that the hitboxes of heroes in general (specially their heads) are huge for some reason, Hanzo arrows are actually quite small.

Recently when giving his one-shot back, they reduced Hanzo's arrow size to pre-season 9 projectile size increase so right now it's smaller than it was for the past couple of seasons

Hot take: Return the loot boxes of OW1. I know, I know, loot boxes suck. But it was better than what we have now. I never spent a dime on overwatch, except for the Illidan skin for Genji. Because I love WoW. In OW1 I played enough, which wasn't a lot, to have every skin I wanted for free from those lootboxes, and most skins I didin't want in the entire game because of the amount of loot boxes, and I never had to spend an irl money for it. I had so many emotes, voicelines, etc. Plus my neurons activate whenever I saw the legendary glow from a box.

Just let it go. We get 600 premium currency and over 1500 normal currency. That means every other season you can get a free seasonpass and with weekly challenges you can have over 3250 credits by the end. Lootboxes just make it so you get random stuff instead of getting what you want. Not only that but the amount of people complaining while you had over 8 years to buy the game before and get every cosmetic within 1 month of playing is insane.
