@GameTechTalk i know your tier video is coming, idk if you want to include this there or just a separate video, but maybe comparing the s9's dpad to other telescopic controllers and the different solutions used like membrane vs mechanical and testing it with some fighters and platformers to show the differences, i think it would help many decide because i just saw one of the other reviewers video of the s9, actually the email abxylute sent linked me to it and he freakin says don't get it for the dpad! almost shattered my world until i saw he didn't really test any of the extra ones that come in the box and he only did a short test with contra and it seems to me like he had to be very deliberate to make it fail the contra test, plus i thought a little give u do want? maybe u can shine a better light...he even replies to one of the comments under his video, that the dpad is like the g8, there's no way that's true, i saw you easily do shoryukens, g8s dpad is too freaking hard/sharp for that lol

I bought the Gamesir G8 a few weeks ago and I like it however, I think the Dpad needs some work. I notice you mentioned this gamepad has a the best dpad so far. That being said, would be possible to make video about which controller has the best Dpad for fighting games. I know you showed yourself playing SF2. That's awesome and i appreciate that. I tend to play alot of Fighting games and would like to play CVS2 and Tekken with a good Dpad.

I bought the G8+ and it was neat, until the left trigger had no sensory and would press all the way down with no tension, as a result the vibration went crazy left side of the controller. - Got the SCUF Nomad, but the face buttons too small, almost ordered the M15 when I watched your video on it, but not connecting to the Switch made me wait for this, Currently using the Kishi Ultra on iPad Mini 6th Gen but no rumble for some reason when connecting to PS Remote Play ..
@GameTechTalk2 ай бұрын
@@PN-92 That G8+ anomaly you are describing, in their app, there is a feature to test your rumble. It locks in one of the triggers (user choice I believe) and when you actuate it, it makes the rumble work. If you still have it, I would go in the software and try ticking that feature on, and back off to see if that fixes it. Apparently, Abxylute are considering making a solution to shield the USB-C and be able to use it wired on the Switch while also slotting in the Switch in the controller. That would be neat if they could sell/include something like that. Otherwise, any wizard with a 3D printer could easily fix that but I'm not that guy. Never owned one! :/

Great video! I just backed it. I have a Galileo G8 and its great BUT I had to modify it to get my s24 ultra to fit with a case and the worse part is that the Dpad is not good at all (not sure if it's just my unit), for some reason it does not always register when I press down (I have to press down with more force than any other arrow) which has been super annoying when playing platformers and metroidvanias. so that plus the Bluetooth, solid ergonomics and $50 price tag (super early bird) made this one a no brainier.

I think the number one question you want to ask yourself with the G8+ is, do you use it as a Switch controller? Because if you do, I think that warrants keeping it as it is a VERY SOLID solution for Switch. If you don't, then that's up to you but as it stands, the S9 does have advantages over it, but no bluetooth PS mode for Android. So there's that too to consider.

On modes: I have the EasySMX M15, and this one on order. Now, on the M15, I've only used Android HID mode exclusively, and I haven't found a need to switch modes. I've only used it for a few Android games, Winlator (for Pico-8), and various emulators, and I'm curious - what are some specific scenarios might require me to switch modes? Also, did you do polling tests on the M15, and if so, is X-input mode notably superior like it seems to be with the S9?
@GameTechTalk2 ай бұрын
Some games are finicky with the modes they support, but indeed, emulation would probably never require that at all. COD:M is a very notorious one, so is Honkai: Star Rail. PS Remote Play only works with PS modes. Android HID is not supposed to support rumble nor gyro, though that may potentially be addressed with a second layer. The reality is some people won't need that at all, but I would hope people still know about this because there may come a time that they think their controller don't work when in fact, it works fine, just maybe not for the game (or even worst, on the mode with X device) that they are trying to play with.

Great vid, thanks for all the info. I think for this to be worth it over the g8+ the usb-c connector needs to be able to fold away or removed. Not sure of the benefit of including bluetooth without that ability. Does the controller have an internal battery?
@GameTechTalk2 ай бұрын
It does not have an internal battery. The reason for bluetooth is because some games lock their compatibility to a single manufacturer, like COD:M with Backbone. So the other solution is to be connected Bluetooth where PS and Xbox controllers are almost always supported. This way, you can "have you cake and eat it too" even if companies like to make back alley deals that mess up with gamer's owned hardware.

This is disappointing, the analog stick on the right side is the make or break for me and that’s terrible for comfort things I can conclude with out picking this up is you’ll have dead pinky after a bit of gaming, and your thumb will be contorting while trying to be competitive in first person shooters or any game that you need to control the camera. This is TERRIBLE DESIGN why do all telescopic controllers continue trying to cut down size instead of making an actual comfortable controller.

@@ivan-j4l9x Over the G8, yes. Over the G8+, I'm still forming my opinion and I will lay down my thoughts on my upcoming tierlist video! :)

Looks nice but I think I'm done with telescopic controllers for right now. I recently picked up the G8, G8+, and M15. I'm just wondering what's stopping manufacturers from putting the USB-C port on the left side instead. This wouldn't really harm regular slab phones. Yeah the power and volume might be on the bottom but I think this is still fine. Foldables will benefit the most tho. I will wait for that as my next telescopic controller.

I think it's more of a software issue. Not sure about iPhone, but with Android, many, MANY games are forcing the phone rotation with the usb port on the right side. If you turn it with the port on the left, you are going to play with the game upside down. You can use some apps to override the forced rotation and make it rotate the other way, but it's not something intuitive to do, many people would likely not think of this solution and would probably just return the controller.

🫡 Let me first throw you a salute. MY GUY, I get it. I totally do. Why need 4 when you can really only use one at a time. However, I must honestly say that as I was talking about the D-Pad in the video, you crossed my mind. Dead serious. You are the guy that likes the G8 D-Pad (how could you?!? 😆). Jk jk of course, but hopefully, you get your hands on one eventually and if you do, I'd love to get your inputs because we seem to like very different d-pads (M6-HD also comes to mind) so I was literally wondering what you would've said, not even joking. You're not in Montreal by any chance, I'll have you try it! 😅 @volcalstone

@AndreaB6 You are absolutely right about the rotation aspect, in fact, I would always use a software called: "Force Landscape" many many moons ago, and that was one of the reasons, that and forcing landscape in non-landscape games such as Mario Run.

@@GameTechTalk haha I thought you said the G8 was S tier when it came to the D-pad? The D-pad on the M6-HD is ok, not the best functionality. I prefer a membrane D-pad personally. This one in the video looks interesting tho. I ended up picking up the G8 again recently as it was only $40. Gonna test it out again. 😁 Nope I don't love near Montreal. I'm here in the States where Cali is at. Our D-pads over here hit a little harder you know. Hehe.

@@volcalstone Ahaha, quite the opposite, it was my only con on the G8! 😅 Dang Cali uh? Gonna need to have that 1v1 one of those days! 😂

:( I wanna cop a razer edge but people are saying the heat is insane and fan is loud. I’m gonna get the ally instead I can’t go back to 60hz

The chip on the Razer Edge is clearly designed to work with active cooling, as was Quest 2. I wouldn't go as far as saying it is loud, but in contrast, a lot of devices use passive cooling and when comparing one to the other, yeah that can take one by surprise.
