Great video, Dāv! Heather's dragons are fantastic, and I'm VERY happy to hear that some of the bigger breeders are dialing things back a bit on the multi-gene combos in the interests of the animals well being. Looking forward to the next one!

Hello, love her creatures.. They are BEAUTIFUL.. My sons school had one as a school pet the secretary had him in the office during the day... he is the reason we started looking into reptiles... when I was a teen some family had green iguanas, My sister had s pair of 4 ft long green iguanas looking back I am sad by the way they were kept.. But my son and I got ourselves a tangerine (carrot tail) leopard gecko at a local reptile expo last year (waited for ever) did my research. Got everything set up tested and running.. passed them by over and over at petco... and got Ember this tiny orange hatchling looking leo at an expo.. The breeder said he was about a month, I KNOW he lied... it was touch and go... critical care for a few weeks then he took off.. now I knowing nothing but what I could scrounge on line (thanks to all you reptile people) he is about a year and 3 months... and healthy never a problem after the first week.. I would love to get something similar to a beardie but don't have the room for something that large... and it would be nice to see something during the day... I absolutely love Ember he stole my heart with his little leo face and additud.. but I only get to see or interact with him when he feels like it... a few times a week for about 20 minutes... the he wants back in his terrarium...

What does the expression(high expression) mean for the bearded dragons? Is it like the pattern of their colors? And what does hypo mean? One thing i wish she would have mentioned is that its not good for bearded dragons to mix visual morphs to visual morphs or visuals to hets. When breeding bearded dragons you are only supposed to breed hets to hets or a visual to a normal to produce hets. Breeding visuals to visuals and visuals to hets causes tons of issues in bearded dragons.

Thank u I'm new here and I'm still learning the basics of breeding I started not really intentionally but it is absolutely something I now know I am capable of doing I had only 1 egg not hatch and oddly enough it went perfectly full term I'm guessing got knocked around maybe by siblings in container or tried but couldn't get thru the egg idk either way my question is what do u think causes half my clutch to have been big and half to be small they were all similar as far as all the big ones are all fucking big lol like double the size almost tho of the lil ones and when I say little I mean Normal size for there age lol
@caterscarrots34073 жыл бұрын
Might be a sign of some German Giant genetics in there, but it also might be just variability in size. To know if it is German Giant, you would have to keep at least 1 of the big babies to see if they end up bigger than your average bearded dragon as adults.

Don't know why you mentioned duner but didn't explain what it is
@fairytaildragons99873 жыл бұрын
There was some background noise disruption during filming. That may have resulted in the need to clip that section of film. Dunner is a scale mutation. The scales are conical rather than more “teardrop” shaped. Scales are more random and unorganized rather than laying flat in a uniform direction. This impacts appearance and results in a dragon feeling a bit more like sandpaper. It is thought by some in the community to be an incomplete dominant mutation with a lethal super form. I have crossed Dunner x Dunner and did experience egg loss but it was very minimal and loss occurred too early in the incubation process for me to be able to determine if it was due to a lethal super-form or if those few eggs were nonviable for unrelated reasons. Interesting observation, as generations distance from a high expression animal the expression is reduced.

So they got rid of colors as a kind of morph in Dragons? Only things like Hypo, Trans, LB, Dun and so on are what they consider to be morphs, am I understanding that right? Sorry its been over 15 years sense I was in the Dragon game. Please tell me that hybrids arent a big thing. It would be better to import from other countries and export to said countries to widen the gene pool then to breed a P. vitticeps with P. barbata or henrylawsoni, minor, nullarbor and so on.
