Adobe subscription just ended, so I'm on the hunt for an alternative to premiere. Just wanted to say thanks for the clear overview, really helps with my decision. This looks shockingly similar to premiere pro, which is awesome, I'm actually really excited to try this out. Thank again!

Wanted to thank you for showing me how to use this free software. Using your tutorial I edited together a small family vacation memory trip and it was easy enough and the end product exceeds expectations.

Great video thanks. I’ve been having some issues with kdenlive lately, missing portions of audio after render. Olive looks great, and I love the direction they’re heading with 0.2. I look forward to that release when it’s stable enough. In the meantime, 0.1 looks like it can easily handle everything I need for my KZbin videos.

Great to hear! Good luck with your KZbin videos!

I had issues with Kdenlive also recently, (clips changing position between sessions and fades not rendering). In the end I recreated the project in Olive, and apart from a glitch in the interface which was corrected by going to 'Window' > 'Reset to Default Layout' , it got the job done without fuss.

I appreciate you posting this tutorial for the 0.1 version. I just installed the 0.2 version from Synaptic Package Manager in Ubuntu and am trying to make a simple 4 minute music video with one image displayed during the duration of the video. I thought it would be a fairly simple project but that was an unrealistic expectation since the program is so complex and un-intuitive. The function buttons don't tell you what they do when you hover your cursor over them. The magnifying glass only zooms in, not out. I couldn't find any setting to adjust the volume of the audio track.
@VideoPlastyOfficial Жыл бұрын
I haven’t seen v0.2 yet but I’m sure it’s quite similar to this one. I go over everything you mentioned in this tutorial. To use just one image you extend it by grabbing it at the corner

@@VideoPlastyOfficial I just installed from the package system on Debian, and 0.2 is what I got. I was pretty surprised. Could jump through hoops to install 0.1, but I gather it's fairly out of date now. Since I left that comment I've moved to kdenlive, but would still be interested to see a video on 0.2.

Where is auto silence cut in Olive Editor 0.2?
@LivSmart12 жыл бұрын
You did not show how to cut out video silences. I want to know how to delete the spaces left behind after the automatic removal of video silences
@enermaxstephens10512 жыл бұрын
The explanation of the razor tool and the trim tool is unclear. Or Olive has changed and no longer functions that way. Could you please go into more detail on how to cut out a certain section of the video? And how you can create small portions of the video to work with. For example, if you wanted to cut out a portion of the video, and rotate it, and then do it again with a later portion.

How does trimming two clips give a transition more time between the clips? What if you've got dialogue there that can't be trimmed? The preview of my transitions looks absolute poop. I'm hoping it looks ok once the full video is exported. :/
@VideoPlastyOfficial2 жыл бұрын
Preview in most video editing software can look a little rough as it's hard to process all of that in real time. So sometimes they do 1/2 or 1/4 of quality
@Wimpoman2 жыл бұрын
@@VideoPlastyOfficial Thanks for the reply bud. ;) Yeah, the exported video looked better, although still not perfect. This is the first time I've used a video editor (aside from the default Windows jobby that lets you haphazardly cut bits out), and it was my first video using Olive too, so I'm still an utter newb.

thats easy, that pointer tool, click on the video where you want cuts and right click, select 'Split' and after you make a start and end split, right click on the unwanted middle parts and delete, or ripple delete if you want everything after to pull back into the deleted space.
