Fair too, my bff and co-d on murder case went in front of him on a gun case, gurus dad lambasted the lying cop. Guru went to real good private schools, like clarence on 8 mile. Advent on beacon hill and either beaver day or g&n. Then i remember watching rap city one day and who do i see guru with gangstarr posse. Then got w premier, hands down best that ever did it and the rest is history.

Thank you once again for a job well done. I love your humble attitude and great respect you show in all your content. I remember our city during these turbulent times. These were the darkest days. I’ll never forget when they stormed Morning Star Baptist on Blue Hill Ave. I knew then our city had took a turn for the worst. The church was always so sacred. The OG’s would never… however the younger gangs could care less. I’ll never forget little Tiffany Moore getting shot on that mailbox. I lived in these neighborhoods during that time. I honestly walked through a war zone everyday. No one ever bothered me, but boy was I close to the fire. I had friends n family lost to these street wars. I never knew how bad it was until I watched your content. Please continue to tell these stories. The younger folks need to know what we lived through back in the day.

Thank you so much 🙏🙏 I really appreciate your comments your always so articulate and I feel I get a sense of your personality through them. Thank you again for all your kind words I’m glad that my attempt at humility comes through to you I really do enjoy talking about these sometimes controversial issues but I try to be respectful and tread lightly . I can’t imagine what it must have been like I try imaging bringing my daughter to the bus stop with shots going off no way for any child to live. That is a big part of why I do this I don’t want this history to be lost. Things are changing so fast I feel like I could blink and something will be gone, I’m doing my part to keep this stuff alive. Thank you again so much for your kind words and support so greatly appreciated 🙏🙏

@@jasontrimmins8264 We love n appreciate the way you “tread lightly”…. but still manage to “go in”. Your humbleness allows you to bridge the two without offense. There will always be haters n those easily offended. However I believe they will always be outnumbered by those of us who love, appreciate n need to hear the history of our city. No one else stepped up to the plate.

Great narration as usual. I was born in Roxbury in1947. And spent most of of my childhood in Roxbury, at the Orchard Park and Mission Hill projects, then moved to Fields Corner and Neponset (Port Norfolk). It’s so crazy to hear this breakdown on the hood and the project/street alliances cuz for me it was just normal and natural and the bonds that were once strongly built back in the day are now broken due to the youth and the worst part about this all is that everyone’s related to someone from a rival hoods💯

Lemme start off by saying: I’d usually have a problem with someone from outside of the hood and culture, commenting on it etc, but I actually appreciate the way this Cat approaches the subject with care, thoroughness and respect. The comment about the perception of why there aren’t many big name Hip-Hop acts out of Bean is spot on. I speak from experience, being from an underground Hip-Hop group outta Roxbury, back in the late 80’s-90’s. I grew up on Hutchings Street (one of the “H-Block” streets associated with Humboldt) in the 80’s. I’m 48 and I moved to Tent City at age 15. I was actually outside shortly before Darlene Tiffany Moore was killed (Bless Her Soul). The mailbox is on the corner of Homestead and Humboldt Ave (a fact that only those in the know, know.) So many years later, one of our well known locals named Bernard was killed on that same corner, just across the street (Bless His Soul). I even got into some sh!t on that corner myself back in the day. Side note: there was a “Junior Humboldt” gang that I was somewhat being recruited to join but opted out. I’m grateful to have survived and to have a clear retrospective view on the ‘hood sh!t that I grew up with. There are a few important things to name when talking about Boston ‘hood sh!t, for example: differentiating between which hoods were in Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan and Jamaica Plain etc for example. It’s also important to frame that the ‘hoods throughout the U.S in general are not only a result of poverty etc, but the overall legacy of slavery and disenfranchisement of Black, Brown and poor folks. I’ll sign off by saying again that I salute this Cat @jasontrimmins8264 again for his efforts and I’ll be keeping an eye on his channel. 🫡👊🏾 1L

This is exactly the response I was hoping to illicit from someone who actually lived this in real life. I really just have always been incredibly interested in the whole situation watching it, growing up outside Boston. Thank you for seeing that I mean no harm or disrespect I’m just trying to accurately describe a unique situation that was transpiring in the city that maybe a lot of people weren’t aware of previously. This video is very accurate about the lack of information out there. I grew up in Highland Black Hawk territory and the rival neighborhood was and is Orchard Park. It’s rare that I hear about all the murders that went on back then. The Highland Ave gang has been around since the 1960’s.

@@jasontrimmins8264 I made a typo I meant to say the 60’s and not 1969. This is tricky. One of the founders was a big drug dealer in the 60’s-80’s and retired a wealthy man. He and his family own many businesses in the neighborhood and try to remain low key. He’s considered a legend and to my knowledge is the only one still left from that time. Everyone from the 90’s and 2000’s are still around and possibly willing to speak

@@jasontrimmins8264 yeah sure no problem, you was very respectful in your video so I'll ask one of my uncles or mom to see if they know more or who to point me to but I know personally that I can't ask my grandmother lol she is deep in to religion now and doesn't like being asked or talking about the events of her time that involves drugs or gangs. Though I might be able to get some info from my grandfather but it might be more hateful information towards them than anything, recently learned from my mother, that my grandmothers family or just her male cousins (the Johnsons) didn't like my grandfather and even went as far to try and jump him. But I'll still ask maybe he be interested in sharing some stories from that time. I mean He do love telling me his old Vietnam war stories so might get lucky lol Also I showed this video to more of my family and a lot of them are happy you didn't paint Angelo as a monster, he was a close friend to my family(best friend to my mom, aunts and dad) and the godfather of my little sister. Grew up seeing him as my uncle. My mother tells me stories for days about him, one things I remember her saying was when her girls and herself be on Humboldt, he would be very protective of them and give a warning to everybody around that he would F them up if they touch his sis lol every time she brings that story up I see my mom smile. @@joka10155 Wow that's amazing someone else commented about Angelo and said he had a tough childhood I really empathize with him. It's really awesome to hear about the other side of someone's character and life from the perspective of friends and family. Most people have people that they open up to and show the real person they are the media always wants to portray the negative side of people especially gang members or people associated with them. I'm glad no one took offense I really really try my best to be respectful and get the information correct. I would love to talk to your grandpa I'm really interested in the late 60s and 70s don't know a heck of a lot of that time period that sounds like it was his era. And of course I would love to talk to anyone in the family about the Johnsons. Honestly anyone in your family just to get the perspective of how things have changed what it used to be like, just kind hear their experience and perspective. Oh yea 100% I’m CV and we been killing each other out here since the late 80s. The beef started back in CV with 2 big families, it got started out here after someone got killed back in Cv. Now it’s just crazy, has nothing to do with families. CV dudes have serious tempers, it’s ten different islands and most of the ones from Boston are from Fogo. We have a joke saying are you crazy or are you just from Fogo?! They’re known to be kinda of dumb, crazy and violent lol. You can ask any CV dude and they’ll tell you the same. Each island speaks different and sometimes look completely different. I’m from Brava they’re very light skinned green and blue eyes sometimes. We are know to be more snobby and educated. Most of people from Brava say they’re Portuguese not African 😂. My dad says this when he’s drunk. Just thought I’d tell you a little bit about Cv history. Pretty interesting.

Thorough breakdown on what was going in our city. I remember when it started not being safe going outside. In the late 80's by the time 90's came it got real crazyyy. Especially in Roxbury ( Brunswick/ Interval/SouthEnd / Tin cIty / The Villa / Franklin Hill / Castle Gate / Humboldt / Corbet ) ... Most of us went to The Burke. It was a very dangerous time. They we had to endure which the city never gave two shits about. Until it was wayyyyy too late. By that time, we started saving ourselves. By curving the violence with Hiphop n Sports n Gang prevention programs ( Gang Peace in Roxbury ) set up by us through the city. I was apart of all of that. Even though I have mixed feelings about you as the poster posting this info. It should of been one of us to actually narrated that lived thou this. Im still some what appreciative because I forgot about most of this. Especially Columbia Point. Thanks for posting RIP to Todd Holiday n The Holiday Family.

When I was a child, before all the beef, the older teens were wearing Miami Hurricanes. In the early 2000's, the Minnesota Twins 'TC' hats became popular by those who were claiming Tent City. Ironically, some Hornets were wearing Minnesota Twins hats, but with the 'M' on the front.

Love this video but u missed a lot of hoods just so they don't feel left out like the Charlestown projects, cathedral, villa Victoria, Forest hills, la paleta, seaver st, fidelis, faneuil, Franklin Hill and Franklin field, geneva ave, ect... People don't realize Boston's nothing but hoods everywhere you step out here your in someone's hood but if you keep to yourself like how I did then your golden just don't get caught in some B's at the wrong time #comeinpeace or #leaveinpeaces

I agree with you I told other people I had a page of all smaller hoods I was just going to read off but I chose not to. I should’ve done that so many people have said the same thing. I’ll just have to do it in a future video. But you’re absolutely right and I was trying to stress that point. There are so many hoods almost every st is a different hood. If you’re not from here it’s very confusing. Thanks for the comment I appreciate you taking the time thank you!

I was in Roslindale and Harvard Street DYS. Metro Gym was like 2-3 years before my time but that was no joke from what I heard. BST-MDU in late 90s early 2000 etc. was no joke. Me being a white kid from Dorchester I knew I lot of black kids, but I was outnumbered like 30-3 at all times. So I had to fight a lot before I wasn’t fucked with. Some won, some lost, but necessary there. I’ve done the tour and I have retired as said in previous comments. Life is precious. 💯👌🏻

Some of the biggest and baddest were castlegate , Humboldt, intervale and X-Men and Blue Hill Ave Chargers OP Trailblazers , Franklin Field Giants and they all would be seen shopping in downtown crossing, you would get jumped for your starter jackets and sneakers. They only wore Adidas and if you had Nike, you could be beaten up .

Great video man. Would love to see this done about Fall River. Even today there’s times when I see Boston/brockton guys getting caught up in the good ole Riv. If anything it might be even more active today than it once was. Just the other day someone was caught in New Bedford with 35 pounds of coke. Most in the cities history, supposedly.

I'm not from here but have lived here for almost 11 years. A few years ago I was rockin a Detroit tigers cap for a minute, just cause i liked it but i got told to stop wearing it cause some street in Dorchester would rep the D caps. I can't remember if it was Dorset or Draper street but it just shows you really can't wear anything in ignorance in this city.
