There are a whole lot of grey nomads who travel and follow the sun or wherever their hearts take them and do most of the funding via their pensions , 2 single people = about $950 per fortnight each or somewhere around $1450 for a married couple , that is very do-able . The rig itself is the capital investment , that could be anything from a $10,000 used 2 wheel drive van to a $300,000 van / tow vehicle combo . It's a different viewpoint depending on where you are in life , when young the prospect of raising a family may be in the background , when older , as long as the health is good then the limits are only those you set for yourself . Jack and Megan , I really admire you two and thank you for sharing this journey , you both have brilliant personalities that shine through the camera , you had like 1500 subs when I found you and in a few months look how the channel has grown , fantastic ! It sort of feels like this journey is starting to wind down as you get closer to home but from what you've said a new journey is in the cards , I look forward to that :-) I can't do anything for a while personally because my dad is 90 and is not well , I'm needed here for now but on the next lap I'd like you go out whale watching on one of the charter boats out of Hervey Bay , ( where I live ) my shout . July to September is whale watching season if that fits in when the time arrives . It's a pretty awesome experience , trust me . Cheers , guys , stay well , stay awesome :-)

Hey Guys, We did 7 years on the road full time in our Single Cab 79 (towing). Forget those expensive toilet chemicals. Try using Woolworths brand Nappy San. It’s cheap & a container of it lasts months. Everytime you empty the toilet just mix a spoon or two in a cup (not ur drinking cup) with some warm water. Mostly dissolve it into the water then tip it into your toilet cassette. DONT Spill on the seals as it will be a bit gritty. THATS it 👍 If you find it’s smelly (just mix a bit more). We all have different diets & body processes so what works for 1 might need a stronger mix for others. I don’t eat dairy…….people that eat more dairy & cheese etc will find they need a stronger mix. Seriously, try it, it’s much cheaper & works well & you will save a small fortune. PS; You don’t need to buy special toilet paper either, the nappy Dan will make normal toilet paper mush in no time. Shitty subject I realise 😂

Awesome tip, we will definitely give that a go! Thanks heaps for sharing!
@GR8Tmate
@GR8Tmate 3 жыл бұрын
@@itsJackandMegan Thats okay, but word of warning. Make sure you really rinse out your chemical toilet before giving the Woolies Nappy San a go, as those chemicals will really destroy the nappy san. Maybe after rinsing it a few times, put a scoop of nappy san in and fill the toilet cassette with water and let it sit for an hour or two, then tip out (you can tip that under a tree or in a hole away from any water source of course). Then do the trick. Also, if your diet is dairy rich, cheese, milk etc, you might find you need a little extra Nappy San, everyones body is different. Anyway, if you get the balance right, you won't look backwards. enjoy ur travels and keep the YT's coming 👍

Guys very helpful putting realistic numbers on things. . . . Just a couple of questions. 1. Fuel economy of the troopie per 100km and 2. Roughly how far would you move/travel in a week (distance)? Cheers Stu
@itsJackandMegan
@itsJackandMegan 3 жыл бұрын
Hey mate it Varys hugely in Queensland it sometimes took us 2 weeks to travel 500km then in the NT we would travel 1000km in 2 days! As for the Troopy we get 500kms to 90lt of diesel. It’s pretty much stayed the same all the way round Australia.

You guys are awesome, realistic budget! Fuel and time is the biggest killer, some travelers only do 300km a week but they have no time restrictions. That keeps weekly costs down. I average $1000 a week (17f Offroad van with 79 series v8 ute) but……. I’m time restricted due to work. One day when I can travel full time, I’ve budgeted for $700 a week to be comfortable. Keep up the great work you guys do 😎

Excellent video as always. We're gearing up to go for 1 year at this stage. Date is set, have done a thorough budget/costings sheet. Renting the house (has a mortgage) which will only just break even in rent. But outgoings will be water, rates, home insurance.. so around -$4,000 but in-turn tenants pay off a small portion of the principal of around $20,000 that year. Van and vehicle fully owned, no loan, no c/cards, no kids or pets so simpler and cheaper than many I guess due to the no dependants part We came up with a total (minus the break even mortgage so no mention of that here) of $78,000 which includes: Fuel $8,000, rates $2,000, water $2,000, home insurance $1,700, van insurance $1,600, car insurance $1,500, misc $4,000, van parks $18,000, storage shed $3,500, alcohol $3,000 food $15,600, attractions $12,000, repairs $4,000, rego $1,000, private health $1,500, phones $400, starlink $2,000, eating out $3,000. Minus dividend income, Flybuy points accrued, some business income of around 30% total spend. If any shares look to become overvalued while on the road it's possible this figure could come down further if taking profit before reinvesting the money back into something undervalued for the dividend. Options to do some trading also if anything presents itself as fairly certain but never guaranteed. Total cash saved equals 4 years of expenses at the moment and would be too scared to go with much less so take my hat off to those who do. Could possibly look to stay on if we really like travelling, but it wouldn't be a nice feeling to see all your hard earned going out the door either without any replenishment. I'm hopeful opportunities will arise within that time, be it stocks or work
