I am a 70-year-old man at 5'8" tall. I purchased my Kodiak 10x14 Super Deluxe VX with the Vestibule on 9/11/2019. I did install the additional grommets onto the vestibule. Makes it tighter and I like the additional overlap. Love using these during the Fall and Winter since the canvas retains the heat inside a lot better. I always stake in the 4 corners first and then erect the center ridge pole with the wings and the end upright poles. Then I stake in all the rest points around the tent. I recently purchased the Top Cover (7/6/2024). I really struggled getting the wing tips into its Velcro pockets the first time. It will stretch a little over time. I purchased an outdoor carpet that has a waterproof underside for use inside. Feels great during the cold months. Recently (9/25/2024) I also purchased the 8.5x6 Kodiak Canvas tent with the new Top Cover. It's a breeze putting it up in about 5 minutes. It has just enough room inside for my Cot, a side table, and folding stool/chair. I can sit on the cot and still have a little space above my head. Both of these tents will last me the rest of my lifetime and for my family years to come!

Hey, i got my first child and getting back into camping again, it was fun for me growing up and as such I want camping to be apart of our family tradition as well. Is the ground tarp not staked?

If you erect the tent it makes it easier to pull the roof cover over the ends. Allows you to pull down cause the upright pole keeps the bow area in place as you pull down and gives you the leverage. I Have this setup and love it! Enjoy your videos😎

I purchased this same tent with the bundle last November 2023 from Competitive Edge and have taken it on 8 hunting trips. I love this set-up and highly recommend it to anyone that is watching this video. It is easy to setup by yourself, 2 people makes it easier and faster. Holds heat very well, my coolest night was about 30F and my buddy heater kept inside between 75F and 80F. Hadn't used it in warm weather yet. Its rained on every trip I've taken this tent and never seen a single drop of water anywhere inside. Just an amazing product!!!

Great Job! I am going to order that cover top for my 10X14 Kodiak Flex Bow tent. I like the functionality of it and added security for sever storms.

I love my 10x10 VX with the vestibule and canvas floor liner. The only fight I have is getting the upright side poles onto their pins. I've tried various staking options - tight, loose, in between and the second pole is always a challenge. Any tricks or suggestions? Recently went on a weekend camping trip with the men and boys from church and it was the windiest conditions I've ever experienced, howling through set up and all night. The next morning only two tents were still up and unscathed my Koiak was one of the two. I enjoy your videos. You see ageless Mr. Charlie.

Thank you! You tried staking down the second stake loop for the second upright pole and that didn't help?
@GuyGorney-ir7zx3 ай бұрын
@@Competitiveedgeproducts I have not tried that yet. It's on my list now

Love this review. Though, It’s really a shame that kodiak hasn’t just added extra reinforced grommets on the awning right from the factory. Such a small thing that they could do. It’s the 1 thing that keeps me from buying this tent bundle. I prefer the overlap on the vestibule and have seen too many awnings ripped at the grommets where they were installed without reinforcement like the standard grommets.

That's a good point. From my experience, they've been super solid.

I think you bought smaller size cover top! I bought Kodiak 10X14 and installing cover top was very easy I could do it with only one hand.
@Competitiveedgeproducts14 күн бұрын
That's a good observation. I know that the covertops were a tight fit during the initial production runs. I think Kodiak has relaxed those a bit. I know they did with the 9x8 cover top specifically. My demo may have been an anomaly for the covertop because each person I've spoken with who has one said they could easily get theirs on with one person. Good feedback. Thanks for chiming in.

If camping in excessive wind, are there places on the tent to add additional guy lines? Anything wrong with adding a couple of lines from the T-bar junctions?
@Competitiveedgeproducts2 ай бұрын
T-bar junctions are a great place to add support! If you have extra guylines having extra support can definitely add to it's strength.

Would the 12x9 be better for 3 cots?
@CompetitiveedgeproductsАй бұрын
Good question. Do you know the size of your cots?
@aotec89Ай бұрын
@ I meant the 12x9 cabin tent. I should have been more specific. The cots are 75 inches long and 30 in wide. I usually fish or hunt with two buddies so 3 cots total. Thanks!
@CompetitiveedgeproductsАй бұрын
@ I think the 12 x 9 might be cutting it a bit too small for you. If you have three cuts and they are each 30 inches then you have about 90 inches of space those cops are taking up. If they are all together even touching that 7 1/2 feet.That leaves you one and a half feet of wiggle room so it might feel a bit tight. The 10 x 14 would give you about 2 1/2 feet of wiggle room which might make a bit of a difference for you. I hope that’s helpful.
