Auto Crossbow is 160 per target. The new Heat Blast upgrade, Blazing Shot, is 220 to a single target, and then it also adds half of the damage of both Checkmate and Double Check, which is 160 to the primary target and 80 to secondary targets, for a total of 380 primary and 80 per secondary. So let's examine total damage: 2 targets Auto Crossbow - 320p Blazing Shot - 460p (+43.75%) 3 targets Auto Crossbow - 480p Blazing Shot - 540p (+12.5%) 4 targets Auto Crossbow - 640p (+3.23%) Blazing Shot - 620p 5 targets Auto Crossbow - 800p (+14.29%) Blazing Shot - 700p So Auto-Crossbow is worse at 3 or fewer targets, roughly equal at 4, and only clearly superior at 5 targets. Seriously, this is ridiculous. Auto Crossbow needs the CD reduction on it.

It's kinda funny because mch and brd both had aoe/single target disjoint issues but they only addressed bard. MCH is such an easy fix, too.

Not just easy, but _blazingly_ obvious, now that _both_ of the Overheat oGCDs are cleave attacks. Just add the CD reduction to Auto Crossbow, boom, done.

they should really make flame thrower useful in aoe. make it give you stacks of overheat, and then you can use it as if you had 50 heat gauge. so you can spam auto cross bow. basically you would use it when you have nothing else to do in AOE.

The damage it does right now really makes it too limited for using almost ever. All they would need to do is allow you to use it while moving and it would fix 90% of the issues with it.

Disappointing but unsurprising to see Flamethrower untouched for yet another expansion. Barrel Stabiliser changing to a buff combined with an extra Drill stack are wonderful QoL for heat management though.

I think they should change Flamethrower to a turrent that shoots it's flames out and is available after using one of your heat moves. And by pressing the button again you can switch between aoe flamethrower and single target laser or something and as long as the turrent is there you get a enhance version of your aoe skill and single target combo.

As someone who plays LoL, i quite frequently see people saying "Turrent" instead of "Turret" and im normally not a grammar nazi but for some reason league has made me hate turrets so much i now have to inform people its turret, not turrent... and no im not diving under the turrets. I honestly dont know if its "turrent" in some other language if so my bad.

@@chstens Disconnected aoe rotations vs single target, Wildfire being an awful 2 minute(it didn’t even get a second added to the timer you can put skills into for those weird fights like top where you have to manually wait to activate it as a second Ogcd just to fit 6 skills into it), ping issues for some people, flamethrower being nothing more than a emote and a meme

Not mentioned in the video from media tour build. Both double check and checkmate are AoE. Hopefully they give more AoE to skills in the final build.

One note you missed is that Double Check, the upgrade of Gauss Round, is also now an AoE cleave the same way as Ricochet/Checkmate. So now _both_ oGCDs enhanced by Overheat are cleaves, and yet somehow, the devs _still_ missed the SUPER DUPER HOLY CRAP OBVIOUS change of adding the CD reduction from Heat Blast/Blazing Shot onto Auto Crossbow.

It would be cool to see every class universally get movement skills and speed up the mechanics at times so things can be a bit more fast paced at times, i think the movement in this game during combat really makes it unique but sometimes it just feels slow at least for basic stuff idk about ultimates and stuff

They just need to make Queen attacks/Wildfire do AoE damage, even if they don't make Auto Crossbow reduce gauss/ricochet timers or keep Flamethrower in its shitty state. Using your battery on trash pulls to not overcap while it still does single target dmg genuinely feels bad. You'd think judging by the animations for Pile Bunker and Crowned Collider being impacts/explosion that it'd do AoE dmg...nope.

I think they probably don’t have guass and ricochet reset during auto crossbow for balancing reasons. The updated Guass round actually does aoe damage now though! I actually like flamethrower because you don’t always use it but it feels good when you can throw it in near the end of a pull. I would want to be able to move slowly during it though

I like that full metal field is a weaponskill and can be pumped by reassemble. I never like new big abilities to be ogcds because that usually means clipping animations and less feelgood (for me)

I think they should change the animation for Full Metal Field so that it shows the whole thing even when you use your next skill. having it show up for a second, disappear, then all the missiles and bullets come out of nowhere looks so unsatisfying

With the potency of Double Check and Checkmate, it would be a DPS loss to use Auto-Crossbow over New Heat Blast assuming those charges were already spent. Should still be fun, but man they need to fix our AoE mess.

IDK if that's the right way to do it, but I just feel like on trash pulls, that it goes much faster if I just use the single target to get back gauss and ricochet and use those more.

These numbers confirm that flamethrower is dead, right? It was already marginal when compared to spamming the aoe and then doing the aoe hypercharge, now that the hypercharge has got a boost and flamethrower didn't, the aoe is now, bio, spam aoe, do a burst, bio?

It's obvious why the AoE combo doesn't build battery. Why would AoE build battery when everything the Queen does is single target? That would make no sense whatsoever.

I was kind of hoping we'd see what you talked about with the dungeon with more fights having adds phases. I feel like if they did this regularly it could allow them to do something like "melees are better at single target, ranged are stronger at AOE"and balance raids to account for this by having adds phases with mini DPS checks to give all DPS roles a time to shine in fights

Gauss round actually does get an increased functionality when it upgrades. It gains an aoe component just like Ricochet. The upgraded abilities are identical. So that’s kinda cool!

Honestly, I'd like to see them drop the Heat Blast/Wildfire spam in favor of reworking the non gun attacks into a ninja TenChiJin style combo system (which you can move during). Use heat gauge to switch on your multiweapon thing and then fire off three tiered attacks of escalating potency from three different button options: Single target, Line/Cone AoE, and point blank AoE. Afterwards, a big follow-up attack will occur, based on how many similar types of attacks you used, kinda like a cross between Monk's beast gauge with Samurai's Iai skills as finishers. -Single attack button: T1 Heat Blast (from the weapon thing) > T2 Drill > T3 Air Anchor. -Line AoE button: T1 A smaller attack, like a laser blast > T2 Chainsaw >T3 That new excavator attack -Cone AoE button: T1 Auto Crossbow > T2 Bio Blaster > T3 Flamethrower (Non sustained version) Each time you press a button, it advances to the next stronger tier, but you can only press three. To give you options, the detonation effect will vary in effect and intensity depending on how many similar types you did. So whenever you build up meter, you can just blast out flashy attacks with a big finish each time, rather than WIldfire's anticlimactic nothingness.

They are STILL trying to figure some of these Stormblood job HUD gauges out... Still no AoE battery gauge or Queen or Air Anchor is unforgivable at this late date. Scholar fairy gauge still seems to be mostly pointless. And now Barrel Stabilizer, Manafication, and Living Shadow don't even interact with the job HUDs at all now. I'm starting to think maybe those people who said job HUDs were holding the game back in design were kinda right on some aspects, in retrospect. I'm still sad about Wildfire seeming like a vestigial organ now, when that was once the machinist's Fell Cleave dopamine that they lived and died for. They should have leaned into that, and they still could, but now it's multiweapon/tools and flashy satellite lasers at the expense of all else. I always wished Scattershot combo'd from Spread Shot too.

MCH will forever be the weakest raid job if it cant synergize with the 2 min windows. What’s the point of a 1440 potency wildfire that can’t be enhanced by my raid comps crit/dh buffs? Wildfire needed an animation change as well. There’s no visual reward for a skill that requires so much input. Wildfire detonations are hidden in flying text.

AoE phases in dungeon bods fights always come across as lazy to me. Every Dungeon is basically two AoE pulls and a boss. A 3rd AoE pull says to me that they ran out of ideas.

They need to go back to their dungeon layout designs like ARR. They had multiple hallways, directions to go, many mobs scattered all over, interacting with the environment to get a key item to unlock some place else etc. Expansion dungeons just linear path 2 mobs until boss, repeat two more times eh.

That's why they got rid of those designs in the first place. Instead of the ARR design, the should introduce more unique mechanics in dungeons, like Aurum Vale but less annoying

Basically: A) Their entire pipeline is based on a formula (2 trash -> Midboss -> 2 trash -> Midboss -> 2 trash -> Final Boss) and changing it would mess with their development pipeline and resource allocation B) They're worried that dungeons that take longer or shorter than a set amount of time will upset people. The second of which is ironic given he kicked off the interview talking about how they need to get rid of the "fear of failure" (fear of upsetting players) when it comes to designing content. But it becomes clear throughout the interview that's very specific to 8 person raid content only. They can't change the way they do dungeons because it might upset people. They can't change the way they handle new jobs because it might upset people. It's frustrating, because the guy knows his game has gotten stale... But doesn't seem to have a path forward to get out of the rut.
