Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

Yep, in the '70's the local blacksmith made anything you needed to get the work done. And yes, that's the 1970's. We still had horse-drawn equipment rusting in the fields when we bought the ranch in Utah. Dad had a Ford '40, and a two bottom flip plow, and putting in metal head-gates for irrigation was apparently a radical departure from canvas dams thrown across an irrigation ditch. It wasn't until his yield was 30 to 50% greater that people started paying attention to what he was doing. He'd taken soil samples to the local county Agriculture office and found out what the soil actually needed to grow different types of crops. Locals had been doing it the same way since the 1800's and hadn't taken advantage of how things had progressed.

from 80 F to rain - hard times :) here in Norway - north - were from 2-30s to sleet and 40s. were still waiting for tundra to thaw and to run tractors on the field without sinking yards into the bogs when spring arrives fully. This is why so many of us migrated to Minnesota some ..... years ago. KUDOS. However, there is still farming here - albeit small compared.

My Grandfather had a hobby farm so big new equipment wasn’t an option. I will never forget riding on the back of the grain planter which had steel wheels. You had to be on the back continuously watching to make sure every row was sowing. It was extremely dusty at times but it worked extremely well. I’m glad we only sowed a small amount of acres lol. He also used a wooden separator that stayed in place even tho combines were readily available, he loved doing it old school. I’m glad I got to experience all the old equipment in use.

Call me crazy, but after watching "umpteen" videos from Zach, Cole, Nick and Legarms, I still find it ASTOUNDING the amount of "behind the scenes" work that farmers do. As a non-farmer, it's so easy to think, well, they just go plant and then go harvest. But the amount of maintenance and upgrades, and other general work that gets done is absolutely amazing. A HUGE hats off to these guys, who do this day in and day out, to bring people all over the world their products. I feel proud of these guys!!!

I love proper engineering, this is great. I love workshops like yours Zac, not going to lie as a small land owner (10 acres) I aspire to having a nice workshop like this (much smaller) to keep my little machines in and let me tinker on stuff. Edit - School is like a veneer of education, very specific and very limited, cut into it and realise it isn't very deep. At 41 I've done alot learned alot, got 2 Degrees (one accidentally as it was part of my military training so i had no choice) the older I get the more humble I get as I realise i will never learn 1% of the knowledge out there. School, is just a venue, life long learning is about attitude and curiosity, skills and doing things for yourself.

Our forecast in north central ohio did a 180 too. We had a whole week of highs in the upper 70s, one or two little light rains which we needed, lows in the upper 50s/low 60s.. to now we barely have gotten out of the high 40s with some lows in the teens. Slowly we are having temps go up but man am I sure ready for that warmer weather. Gave most the Farms time to turn their fields though so that was nice. Planting in no time

What I like to see here, is he's not afraid to spend some money on things like rolling chairs to make the job easier on the human body. There's always going to be grunt work. But you'll be around a lot longer if you have support systems in place like tools fitted to the job at hand. Work smarter, rather than harder. Don't get me wrong, it's a brutal amount of work, but the production they're able to put out, reflects the care taken on the front side of the project.

What a great setup all around!!!! Shop ,equipment , work crews especially Master Jim , kids, dogs videos. Zach you and Mrs Zach have things going well in a world that seems so crazy 😜 Your Dad is probably happy now he let you buy those video games all those years back. So much technology involved and you seem to enjoy it so. Hope that your business continues to reach all your goals. Seeing that articulating tire tractor reminded me of the seven short March thru November seasons I spent in a 9340 helping a local dairy farmer. He was milking around 1100 three times a day. Two years ago the family farm went out of business. It’s such a hard life and if you’re not on the top of your business well...... it’s a tough life . He lost his Dad who was 91, who he spoke to every day even by phone during the winter and I think his focus fell off. As I ramble..... just keep your family close ,your love for technology high and the equipment green!!! Thank you and all our farmers for the long hours and hard work 🧐🧐🥴 Joe

@@markmcculfor6113 I thought they were homeschooling to. I would home school, because just wearing that mask all day is dangerous. I notice worker's who have the mask on, and their skin is very red in the face and neck, as well as their arm's. Breathing the bacteria from your mouth is causing strep throat, my sister teaches second grade, and they shut the school down for two weeks. There are several disease's people are having just from the mask. The scary part is this vaccine that has not been tested on animal's, and is not FDA approved, and if you have any health problems, you can't see. The rna vax is not like the other yearly flu shots, and it could take a couple years for any health issues arise. I have MS, and got it after the hep b vax, about 3 year's later I was misdiagnosed for another 7 years. I joined several MS groups, and found out that many people like me got the MS after the hep b vaccine. I started researching the shots and found out they have Mercury, PEG, aluminum, aborted fetal cells, and cause many autoimmune disease's. Go to the CDC website, and also a you tube channel called herbsplusbeadsworks, has a lot of good information on this. God bless, and be safe.

"Looks like a meeting of the minds.....and Jim too" .... haha. Poor Jim. Such abuse he takes!! Oh, and I got my Millennial Farmer hat and T-shirts today. GREAT QUALITY. Keep up the great (well, pretty good) videos. Blessings to you on the farm.

Sweet, those roller wheels for the planter have sweet rims. Also, is it ok to ask how long Jim has been working for you guys? He seems like a really cool guy and like he's known you guys for some time.

Thanks for a very interesting video. Thanks for filming the process to update the planter. Takes a lot of work but is surely worth it. All of you put in the hours to get it done. Tons of connections and wires and hoses to make it work. Very interesting Zach. Will want to see it work in the field. Quite an upgrade project. Like a new planter now. Looking forward to seeing it all work. Thanks Zach. Iowa farm boy from years ago.
