Thanks for this video. I ordered new brake pads for my craftsman lt2000. I made a mistake when I was working on mine, I didn't put it back together or take a picture while waiting for the pads to arrive. Once I went back to the job I couldn't for the life of me remember or figure out how to get it back together. Thanks for taking the time showing how the brake mechanism with the springs work. It saved me!!! God bless!

Great job George. I had to do the same thing to my lawn tractor the brake was seized and stuck on. Seems like you have it all set now. Cheers, Jeff.

My brakes haven't been good on my 2013 cub cadet ltx1040 since i bought it 4 years ago. I figured the pins were stuck in the caliper,but they weren't. I took it apart and cleaned it up and reassembled it and now ive no brakes at all. The pucks are really worn,but they had been kind of working. I can turn the adjuster all the way tight and still has zero stopping power. I think i may try shimming behind the pucks until i can buy some.

Make sure your brake rod is adjusted properly, but new pucks will certainly help. Hope my video was helpful for you. Thanks for stopping by the shop.

george you did a great job on the brakes i have found sometimes after you get the mower on the ground and on a slope sitting on it that you may have to tighten the brake a little more so it holds on a slope not always but sometimes i have had to do this. Stay safe and have a great weekend.

This one has worked very well on the slopes/hill at the back of my property. I need to do a little more adjusting on the drive belt so it completely stops the transmission. It is hard to shift between forward and reverse some time. Thanks Bob

Thanks Roger. I hope it will help someone on down the line.

Great video, but I'm little confused because according to MTD manual, on 3:13 you put disc wrong. Thicker side goes away from transmission.

Not on my setup. It wouldn't have fit in the other way around...I tried it both ways...LOL It is still working great! Thanks

Cool . You are right , with out the metal backer , the pins will break the pad up .
@doughboy19664 жыл бұрын
I learned that from one of my used mowers. Had to order parts to fix mine. I have owned many of those mowers. Wish my zero turn was as simple to work on as these mowers are.

@@doughboy1966 if missing when i take one apart , i just cut a small piece of sheet metal , if it is missing .
@TheShadeTreeFixitMan4 жыл бұрын
I figured so as the pads are quite brittle. Thanks Terry

I always set mine without the brake on and run the shoes in until they touch then back them off where there not rubbing. On mine from the factory the parking brake always had resistance when engaging them. I have had many of these MTD style mowers. I like them as their easy to work on. Don't forget to check the bushings in the bottom of the steering shaft and the bushings in the steering spindles and wheel hubs.

Hey George, how old is that can of Marvel Mystery Oil in the background?

Good question Matt. I have had it for a while and wish that it still had oil in it. I like the graphics and colors. Thanks

The brake assembly is quite a little mechanism. I couldn't dream it up if I tried.
