Only the Interstellar Modler could make this unholy union of a hospital plate warmer and a canoe look this good. I'd have paid you 500 for that Mando painting in a heartbeat. You are now officially and forever an actual card-carrying "Fine Artist". You've sold a painting for money. No small thing at all.

Sort of having a revival in my head of this ship design, found your channel. Best look I've had at the ship's general layout thanks to your footage, and the assembly challenges you face made for interesting viewing. I sometimes wonder if the lower half and the pylons were removed if it'd still seem like a viable ship :) Thanks!

I think you did a great job. To be able to critique yourself does help others who are going to build this model. The running lights are difficult. The green, to me, appear too bright. Not sure if there are other options to reduce the glare. I look forward to your next video. Have a great weekend!

The registry decals that you talk about for the Grissom are correct and screen accurate. If you check out still shots from Star Trek 3 they are exactly the same as what's in the kit.

Yes that’s right. I was just pointing out how they’re oriented top vs bottom (which is also correct). I had thought the case would be the same with the Pegasus. I can email u a pic of what i was eluding to.

Can you share with us the base that you have? Is it a simple plastic box with an open bottom?? It's absolutely beautiful and lightyears better than the plain dome ones included. The use of the ship's dedication plaque is a beautiful touch. Also I had a question about the decals that I couldn't find addressed elsewhere. It looks like the inboard and outboard nacelle have different decals. The inboard ones have the TNG-style delta shield with the oval-shaped backing. The outboard ones have the TOS-era round backing. Was that something that was included in the instructions, or a design choice? Thank you for a beautiful build!
@InterstellarModeler2 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks so much for the kind comments. The stand was made using an old optical lab tray. I actually work in optical but u can find the exact same tray if u go to ebay and search optical lab tray. You can buy bunches of them, i saw a single one on sale for $3. As for the decals, you are correct. Unfortunately the decals instructions on the box are useless. The silver arrows go on the outside, white on the inside. I’ve added a link to the reference pictures of Pegasus. That’s your best bet to help. Thanks
@jeanmalo71732 жыл бұрын
Given your skills at model building, it would have been cool to see you build the Pegasus stuck in the rock-face as on the episode...said rock-face would have become your model support...just a thought...thanks for sharing and stay safe!

Hi Jean I cannot begin to tell u how many have asked about that lol. I did give it some thought but the display would be too large for me to put anywhere. Perhaps it’s a possibility at some point with smaller model. Thanks for watching

Looks really great! I'm not sure the port and starboard running lights are supposed to blink. Only the top/bottom center and aft running lights blink. All Starships in Star Trek are based on US Navy regulations according to Gene Roddenberry.
@InterstellarModeler2 жыл бұрын
Actually you are correct, the ones on the Grissom did not blink but the HLI board included the effect so i decided at the last minute to add it. The Pegasus was never seen traveling through space but I assume it would have been the same. Also it was brought to my attention that there should be no running lights facing aft on that section of the primary hull so that was an error. All that effort to get the fiber optics in those two pieces.....oh well. Thanks for the compliments though. I really doo appreciate it Michael.

Nice work on the Grissom Orlando. I hate to do this to you but those clear plastic parts that go on the rear bulkhead only light up on the underside of the hull. There are no lights where you talk about scraping off the paint. You'll notice the lighted area is where the pin pushes through the bottom hull part. I just removed all my paint masks and am ready to start giving everything my light blending mist coats to tone everything down.
@InterstellarModeler2 жыл бұрын
Lol....you're kidding. I did it that way based on the build I saw on Trekworks channel. Oh well.
@JimPaulJr2 жыл бұрын
Don't take my comment wrong. Also I don't usually knit pick others work but his build is way off. Anyway despite all of your issues your build turned out great. That back opening on the pontoon was missing the cover on the studio model as you could see the wiring inside. The cone shaped one slides in and then snaps down. Thats the one they show on the Grissom in some of the movie stills that I downloaded. You mentioned using Tamiya sky grey for all of the grey areas. I used 2 parts sky grey and 1 part flat white and I still need to do the light mist coats to tone it down. I've been doing day to day progress videos on mine as well as sharing tips and issues that I come across as I build it. Everybody sees things in their own way so there really is no correct or incorrect way to build this. Especially since there really aren't any photos of the Grissom available. I don't recall what the Pegasus looked like on screen but if you pull up some movie stills of the Grissom you'll notice that the entire ship is Azteced just like the Enterprise Refit. Have a great week and keep up the great work on your paintings.

@InterstellarModeler2 жыл бұрын
Hi Randy.....thanks for the compliments and for the reassurance that I'm not the only one who makes mistakes like that LOL. Sometimes I just don't pay close enough attention. Oh good grief. Pesky Oberth-class: I realise, naturally the the eponymous episode pre-dates the BSG reboot, but naming the Oberth the same as a Battlestar? And then, *then* the utterly gorgeous, completely cool Mercury-class turns up on the BSG reboot. And the Oberth looks even bloody worse. Which is very, very difficult. Rant aside, nice work with the model… 😎

Thanks Jeff. Lol....it's kinda funny how some people just hate the ship Lol. I can see why it isn't everyone's cup of tea though. I remember seeing it appear on screen and thinking how odd it looked. @InterstellarModeler2 жыл бұрын
Hi...thanks for your comment. I always assumed this was automatic and that the viewer would simply click on the cc button. I looked into adding the captions and followed the instructions for formally activating them on the Grissom build videos. It's a lot more involved than I had anticipated if one wants the punctuation and spelling to look right. It requires a complete edit of the entire dialog. I did go through the process of what was suggested for publishing the cc but didn't have the time to edit all of the dialog at the moment. Will eventually do so but you should be able to see them for sure now. One thing that confuses me though, is afterwards I went back to a few of my other videos and was able to click the cc button on the bottom right and the captions still appeared without me having to do anything else. Although the spelling and punctuation are terrible since no editing was done, they're still visible. Was this not possible with the Grissom videos? Appreciate any feedback you can give.
