You really did a beautiful job on this kit. I love the paint work and the decals look really really nice. Thank you very much for the compliment on the board. You are the first on to use it in a kit so we get to really see it working which is awesome! As always an inspirational build :)

Your models are always gorgeous. I would love to be half as good as you. I'm working on my 4th model now and having a blast, but unfortunately may have to take a long break from modeling. My being on disability mixed with this economy is not mixing well with my new hobby. I will continue watching and learning from you great builders though.

Good luck, brother! We're all suffering thru this horrendous economy, but those such as yourself being on a fixed income, are really going to be hurting! It's going to get to the point to where we have to ask ourselves, "Do I fill up the car this week, or do I buy groceries"? God bless you and everyone in this country, that we can weather this storm out.

Very nice Boyd. I can say, this model has very straight lines, not much bending is required to apply the decals. I think a lot of these companies have trouble making decals for models with tight corners and divides, that create a lot of stress on the decals. I’m 51, I’ve been building for years. I can agree, that they don’t coat their decals properly, they are too thin sometimes, and if you need to add a decal softener to them, they fall apart. I make a lot of mine by myself, so I don’t have many problems with them.

you never seen the movie era Tech manuals apparently Boyd there are several ships based just on the upper section of the class. one has a Reliant style torpedo pod located where the secondary hull is. the other is just the upper hull section. they both are called light and heavy class Corvettes. they also have several Tug designs based on the upper section as well. Very nice model as well as always.

As a model builder myself, I found that this ship waas the most troubleso e to paint and light! But my 2nd attempt was satisfactory! I lighted the warp nacelles with blue led strips!

Great Video Boyd. I believe it was Lou Delmaso from Aztec Dummy was the guy who complained about that front decal. He just built his and issues that you didn't have. I beleive he was building a test shot version of the kit. Looks great and plan to build one soon.
@666styxxx6662 жыл бұрын
I believe that the test shot was actually a 1/35th lost in space chariot ( Lou KEPT mentioning test shot on that build ) his grissom was stock ( he was waiting for both the starship and hawk hence the chariot build ) and he mentioned that round 2/mpc were aware of the decal issue

Looks fantastic. Star Trek 3 was a very underrated film for the TOS crew but it had a lot of solid scenes. Christopher Lloyd really set the bar for what a Klingon commander is like and how they would act.
@TrekWorks2 жыл бұрын
I totally agree, it's a great movie and has a lot of important pieces of Star Trek lore in the story. For me the original cast movies in order are: Wrath of Khan, Undiscovered Country, Search For Spock, The Motion Picture,Voyage Home and The final Frontier.

I did a vac-form version of this ship some years ago. Hard work but came out OK. She came out as the USS Bonestell, in deference to the artist Chesley Bonestell. I probably need to build this one by way of comparison.

Beautiful work! Thank you for this series. Just finished my 1:350 "Copernicus." Seeing your process and choices was very helpful! Very nice build Boyd. Gettn ready to do my own. I still struggle a bit with the posts I use to mount them. I notice yours is unglued. Do you ever glue them to the ship itself?
@TrekWorks2 жыл бұрын
Sometimes yes if it's not fitting well and too loose. I use CA glue so it's not permanent if I ever want to remove it later. I find that the plastic mounts they put in these newer kit's are not very strong so I usually beef them up on the inside with some epoxy and wood if needed.

Watching your videos has taken my love of scale military models and passion for Star Trek to begin building what has always been what I called "a foolish dream of mine" to reality. Hi Boyd...one other question for you. Looks like you did some seam work around the front of the saucer. Was that difficult to do? What is your favorite putty for those types of seams? Model turned out great
@TrekWorks2 жыл бұрын
Hi Oggie, I prefer the perfect plastic putty that's water based. I put the putty on, let it dry and then take a damp rag to wipe away most of the excess and then final sand after that.
@InterstellarModeler2 жыл бұрын
@@TrekWorks excellent, thank you
@forthwithtx58522 жыл бұрын
Really nice, and you seem to knock these out so quickly. I agree with you on the saucer windows. They are a little “too much”. At the angle you were shooting they were also pretty bright. Maybe tone them down a little on the next one, unless you didn’t glue the saucer down, in which case you could do it on this one.
@Emtbtoday2 жыл бұрын
Our decals are printed by cartograph for the armour model's there the best quality the decal sheets are stamped in the right bottom corner if from them so double check the decals as alot of companies now even airfix have stopped the in house decal printing and started using cartograph decals! Maybe Polar lights are doing the same it'll be on the box or the actual decal sheet airfix like to remove the name from the decal sheet but they have to have it by law on the Box but like miniart, meng, afv club, takom etc etc they all use these decal printers now there lovely it's like they manage it without the over lapping Carrier film so the things are harder now to silver on matt coats laying them down on paint works just as well with them!. The aztec aftermarket decals are cool for it!

Too many windows? Never enough windows-- on such advanced space going vessels there should be loads of them, everyone fighting for more windows. Now, where the bunks are is another matter. But those scientists want to be able to look out. I also think about engineering... of course back in the day, it was hugely expensive to install lighting but I always thought there would be some windows on the pylons and nacelles. Even if only lit in red.
