Joe's exactly right. A "true" artist would never sell something they didn't put their heart into. Once you begin to sell out, you no longer care about making true art.

Cool discussion. But Joe said, "Michelangelo ain't give a fuck what niggas (people) thought when he was drawing..." That's not true, Joe. Michelangelo was a great artist, yes. But he never slacked with the business, ever. In fact, if you studied your history, you'd know that Michelangelo is like the earliest paradigm for the 'Prosperous Artist'.....he was one of the first to find that sweet balance between catering to an audience, and still keeping it true. Joe would have been better off referring to Leonardo Da Vinci, or Mozart....those are the guys who really didn't give a fuck....and of course, they died poor. Michelangelo didn't.

His art was not dictated by what others said unless he was paid, you seem to just be looking for an opportunity to provide an unneeded history lesson.

So Joe admits Cardi b has no creativity, sees nothing wrong with her having ghost writers and still loves her because she some how works hard but she admits her team do it all for her, by that logic he should love Kodak because that guy drops an album every month, Joe so selective on who he chooses to like or dislike and whos damaging rap, Cardi b a cancer to rap the only good thing she's doing is adding competition in female rap. but I still fuck with that bodak yellow track hard.
@zingGodin7 жыл бұрын
Era 404 I think it comes down to expectations, which is super subjective. If you expect Kodak black to display true artistry and be creative and he doesn’t he just makes something that sounds good and rides the wave of whatever’s popular. THEN it’s trash. But if you DONT expect cardi b to forward the culture and be innovative but rather just make something that sounds good, then when she comes out with a banger that sounds like everything else it’s ok. I don’t agree with how he determines what’s trash and what’s not, but I understand what he means.

The only “loophole” to this conversation is that if you as an artist are putting out stuff that... stays in the same lane, for lack of better words, but it’s honestly what you’re feeling and what you want to put out there - then you can still be a true artist and do that. Ur TheDuke but if your so into the love of the art why are you so worried about if it sounds the same or not? Clearly there is an audience for this music that sounds the same.I see what logic is trying to do by tapping into the whole biracial,suicide shit which makes me question is that really art or just convenience to try and be heard?

Music is 100% samples, dubs, remixes, remakes and reboots. We used to pick bits and pieces for inspiration as a platform to mold our own work from. Now they saturate within the pool of resources instead of making new shit. The problem is the money. The more you focus on material shit, the more your focus and interests are exclusive to current or up and coming trends as opposed to what music comes from them. Mumble Rap is THAT the same way Gangsta Rap is THAT.

@zingGodin7 жыл бұрын
MrRebo early mixtapes were battle raps with sharp lyrics, under pressure detailed his life growing up when he was in a darker place and was much deeper lyrics, The Incredible True Story was a more upbeat album about how he was successful and also a conceptual album with the space travel theme (which he came up with), bobby Tarantino was turn up songs meant for having fun touring and live shows (and also bangers riding around in my car lol) and Everybody was a statement album that even I as a fan doesn’t think have a lot of replay value but he got a point or a subject across that means a lot to him. To me I think that’s pretty diverse both lyrically and sonically.

Zero Cooper he really dont
@leftynineteen39847 жыл бұрын
Theres a difference between saying it and making a whole song based on being bi-racial. So if you’re saying he’s making songs all about bi-racial then you’re saying that every other rapper today is rapping about the same shit because there’s NO DOUBT they all talk about “fucking bitches and drugs and money” in every single song.

Jay Castor Have you listened to 5 A.M.? He doesn't state that he's biracial but he says it in a different way. Essentially it still makes the same point that he's biracial so two songs? Yes and no.

God Logic annoys me. Who he really is will come out sooner or later. He has to know he's biting ideas constantly. He's too smart to believe this after school special shit is deep. He saw Macklemore fall off and saw dollar signs.
@pcharlie36267 жыл бұрын
Logic is being a hypocrit becuase as much as he would want to deny it, he is just a copycat of other bigger artists like Kendrick, J Cole, and in interviews he tells everyone how big of Cole fan he is or how he loves Kendrick. he is basically just the biggest fanboy of rap more than an individual artist
