Definitely a lot easier just to press a button with a device, then running metres of more cable and rewiring the locking system for the van!

A cool solution... But I still think you should be able to control the central locking and the alarm independently of each other. If they are activated by different RF signals, maybe one could copy and code one's own RF fob and put them on separate buttons.

I’m not sure if the alarms are different signals from the remote or not. I think the van itself controls the alarms automatically when it get a signal to lock the doors. The alarms can be permanently turned off but I don’t really want that.

Nice solution to an annoying problem! I had to use those door buttons to lock my Transit for almost a week & in just a week it had become annoying. It must feel good not to have to faff on any more!

Yeah, I agree, anything possible to remove faff in my eyes it’s a good! It’s nice to have the added security option that you don’t have to get up and make yourself visible to lock the doors in case you forgot and you start hearing noises outside

Loved this video and laughed through most of it. My wife & I have the US version of a Ford Transit, and it has no cabin sensors, but we've still discussed not using the key fob many times. So, like you, one of us would go to the front and lock the doors from either side. But then again, we were wearing clothes, it was very chilly! Switchbot is an interesting company with some cool gadgets - like the curtin gizmo... :)

Yeah SwitchBot do make some pretty interesting bits of kit. In the uk it seems different spec of the van have cab sensors. Some do and some don’t.

Great news the SwitchBot mini hub works with Maxxair fan. So far I’ve got on, off, open & close. Off to work now I’ll see if we can get more control. At least I can turn it on and off now from the front of the van without the remote control.

Hi on my van you can turn the cab sensor off but lock the doors by pressing the settings menu scroll to reduced alarm then pressing ok and it'll stay on that setting until the ignition is switched back on .

Yeah I can turn off interior scan / Alarm when I leave the vehicle via the drivers door ( for when the dog was in the front ) and as you rightly say it rain gauges next time you start the ignition. But most of the time when I’m wanting to lock the van from the inside I’m in the back of the van, so I don’t want to have to go into the front to turn the alarm in settings. I’m sure there is a key fob button combination which is meant to do this, but I’ve never been able to consistently get it to work or figure it out.

Thankfully my old 2003 Primastar doesn’t have that problem and I can lock the doors from the keys while in the back. Probably don’t have much security though when I’m not in it though 😮

I had a 2010 trafic ( Renault version of the Nissan ) for 6 years mine unfortunately did! I still had to get into the front to lock the doors at night

I haven’t checked on purpose for the point of checking. But I seem to frequently forget to unlock the doors before I try and open them and find them locked. Thank you and I’ll definitely to testing more often

I don’t know, I had my previous van for 6 years before this one and I still had to get out of bed and lean into the cab to lock the door every time I forgot. Wish I had thought of that then back then

This issue i have found as my van has sensors in the cab if I use the Key fob to lock the van ( single or double tap ) I always set the alarm off. Second. I’ve have had a few beers I’d rather not have the keys near by incase the police come knocking.

If the remote turns on the alarm when you use the key fob from inside the van why is that a big deal, you have the alarm on for extra protection while you are locked inside? 🥶🥵

If the alarm is armed / on when I’m inside the van then alarm then goes off. it’s will go off with any movement from me! some of my friends with the same van but a lower spec don’t have the sensors in the cab and are fine with using the key fob. mine has the cab sensors which are set off with movements

Definitely. They come with a little sticky tab ( the one I used as a spacer ) designed for the arm to attach to pull a normal house switch back. I just have the SwitchBot set to “press” mode. There is another mode where the arm remains out until you press it again to retract the arm.
