Journey is one of those games that on paper they don't seem like anything special, but 3nd up being a unique experience. You just can't appreciate this game until you play it yourself blind
@warriorofsunlight13 жыл бұрын
The visuals at this point in the game combined with the music literally brought me to tears the first time I played through Journey. It's weird how a game that doesn't have any vocalized storytelling can evoke so much emotion. Even listening to it again now, it makes me a little emotional. I can still remember the unknown companion I had throughout my entire first playthrough, and I think part of that emotion/sadness comes from knowing that I would never see them or play with them again.

Ah, this one's my request! I'm glad you enjoyed it ATLAS; it's worth mentioning that this is the first track in the game that uses the full orchestra, and it takes place at the end of your journey (no pun intended). I think it's also worthwhile checking out how Apotheosis syncs so well with the final ascent in the game, either by playing through the game or just looking up footage. Thanks for doing my request, looking forward to your future requests!

I was going to say this myself. It's impossilble to listen to this track without playing that ending scene in your head. The two just go together so well. You should totally just play through Journey, it's a very short game that you can play through in just one sitting.

i never knew about this game for over 8 years. finally played it blind without know ANYTHING about it or seen it before. was a mistake. hit me like a skyscraper in the face. i sobbed like a schoolgirl towards the end and felt redemption for the first time in my life. what a life changing experience... words are not enough to describe all this. it is one of those rare games which makes you realize your life will never be the same and it can never be unheard anymore. if this is what heaven looks like i am not scared to die anymore. cheers from china - 41 old male here°

42 old male here from Mexico. I played this game in 2020 and it made me feel a lot of things. The area with the shiny golden sands, where you slide from right to left in a side view sequence, that was the first and the strongest punch, so to say. The music and the color were like a revelation or epiphany. The ending, when this one song plays, was overwhelming, I felt I couldn't hold tears any longer. I finished the game, read the names of the people I met during muy journey, and cried.

Taken as a whole, Journey has one of the best soundtracks in all of gaming. And not just as a stand-alone piece, it simply is incredible at how it enhances and becomes one with the gaming experience. I think I would compare the effect to that of Dune's soundtrack (2021). Utterly seamless and breathtaking.

Journey is a fantastic game and I recommend everyone give it a try. It's a fairly short, but incredible and unforgettable experience. What this soundtrack does not show is how each of the sound cues (e.g. the bells in this track) match perfectly with what is happening in the game. What's also missing is the context of the song. What part of the game and music came before this song, and the utter release and freedom you feel when that song comes on. The soundtrack adds so much emotion to the game, but you need to experience it in the context of the game.
@Mandraxon13 жыл бұрын
You've basically said everything that I would say, the game's attention to detail and sound design are phenomenal. Journey's one of the few games I can point to and say that it changed my life in a meaningful way, and while I can't claim everyone else who plays it would feel the same as I do, I can at least say that it is an experience that everyone should try. It's that good.

Aaaah I left a comment about Apotheosis too, so glad you made a video about it! Journey is such a special game with such a special soundtrack, Apotheosis is one of my favorite songs of all time. It plays after you lost your fight against the forces of nature, but the spirits of your ancestors give you a second chance. (spoilers!:) Using it, you reach your goal of ascending a mountain where you don't reach godhood per se - you get reborn! You slowly march towards and into a bright light while that final piece of Apotheosis plays, indeed a solo! Either Tina Guo on the cello or Rodney Wirtz on the viola :) I hope you can play it one day, hearing the track in-game (it's dynamic, certain progress triggers certain parts of the song!) is an incredibly emotional experience!

Day 36 of requesting House of Sacred Remains from Castlevania: Lament of Innocence. Beautifully atmospheric track and one of my fave's from video games in general. It'd be awesome to hear what you think of it. It's the theme of a level set starting from a cathedral and ending in the crypts through lots of library areas, it's not a particularly significant or infamous level at all but I think the track really reflects the hallowed grounds housing sacred relics beautifully. The 4 minute upload from the Castlevania Sound Team is the one to listen to.

Good reaction! Journey is one of my favorite games ever and i love the ost! If you want to rock out for a bit to get your blood pumping with adrenaline i'd recommend something from the semi-realistic cart racer Jak X. "rev-up" "steel" and "hybrid" are all worth checking out but my recommendation would be "ancient" as it really makes you feel like you're in a life and death situation, it shifts between pure chaos and the zen you feel when in the zone driving hundreds of miles pr hour. Might be a bit generic but i promise you a good time ;)
