I am a little confused? Why does the compressive strength based on cross-sectional area i.e. N/mm^2 ? if the volume is not a factor in determining the compressive strength, then why the test is performed on a cube? Why not perform the test on a flat concrete such as 150mm x 150mm x 10mm ? Can anyone explain?
