Oh my, I can see where this will really come in handy. I have a bad habit of following instructions one line at a time from top to bottom, much to my little brother's dismay. So, I am going to go over this video a dozen times before I create my library. I just realized I only have to create the various settings for whatever materials I use. It is going to take me a bit. But, that's okay. My car is under snow and ice so I have nothing else to do. Thanks for sharing.

I am just now getting back to your Generating Materials Library video. Today I downloaded from the Internet a 100w Materials Library. I am hoping it will it give me a ballpark idea as to etch/cut/engrave settings that will work on my Rudia 100w laser (my brother restored and has it in my garage and operational). I am going to generate a Materials library while following your video. I have an extensive Art Library, thanks to another of your videos.

Hello. First of all my compliments. Best Laser Guru I've met on YT so far :-) In step 4:12 of the video, you say that a thickness is not specified for the engraving, which is generally correct in my opinion as well. But there are cases where in the same work session it is necessary to carry out both operations, namely the incision and then the cut. How to manage this in the material library?

because the library is completely customizable just indicate the difference in your description and generate a separate setting. thanks for the comment

Great explanation and demonstration of this Lightburn tool. It does require a set methodology in your naming convention. In your personal preference, how detailed do you go. i.e. Do you have a setting for different line spacing in a fill, or one for a line after fill, and how about just a line, no fill. Do you call that a line or engrave? Curious as to what level you do it. Thanks again
@computercreationz2 жыл бұрын
I will have several engrave setting like on wood, one would be general, one for photo, and so on. The Lpi and other details are so specific to each job I don’t get that granular. With the exception if I doing that exact some product over and over. Most all my work is custom but for someone that makes the same thing all the time it would make sense to generate and save setting for that product

@@computercreationz This works well for Art Libraries, on a one-by-one basis, and is very inefficient though. For Material Library - this is even more clumsy. Definitely an area for Lightburn to improve, by using e.g., PC's Copy/Paste function. Thanks.

I am using a Rudia 80 watt laser. I am not sure what the minimum settings are. Do you use minimum power settings for engraving. I am working on a chipboard file with two engrave settings. One for Line and different setting for Fill so I have in my descriptions Engrave Fill (the icon is filled ) and one for Line (the outline shows not filled). I have Cut under the engrave descriptions. Why does the Material half of my Library box keep disappearing? I will have to wait until I get to Makerspace to find out what the minimum power setting and thickness should be. I am still tinkering with filenames but getting close.

The library’s are a stand alone file and not part of LightBurn. Find where you library is located and copy to the other computer. Or better yet if you two machines are networked use a single file and load the library on what ever machine you using. I haven’t tried this but since it a stand alone file it should work.

@computercreationz3 жыл бұрын
not specifically, line is cut with just different setting, scoring or marking your wood but not cutting you have high speeds and low power. for cutting it’s just the opposite you will need slow speed and high power. hope that helps

Poop, since working on the laser my sister and I use whatever scrap wood we come across from the trash others leave behind. Or, we go to a craft store, using coupons, and purchase any thin clean wood we can find. Using your file note tip, I we have good documentation on the settings for our last few projects. I can show our brother the wood we did these on to find out if birch, plywood, sanded plywood or whatever. We can enter information in our new soon to be library. I plan to never cut/engrave unless I know what it is we are cutting/engraving.
