I enjoyed this video but could not see the names of the people being interviewed or their companies, so I had to Google them phonetically. The start-up that facilitates accessibility for the visually impaired is called Key2Access, but the host sounds like he's saying "Q Access", which is a different company. I've never seen any serious interview program that does not indicate the name and organisation of each person being interviewed.

Thank you! I had trouble finding this so i had to get help from comments. KZbin subtitles were "Q access" and "pina access"

I've lived in Montreal for 15 years, now I'm in Shanghai and Montreal seems like a medieval city compared to Shanghai... Shanghai: - all services (water, electricity, gas, etc) connected to ONE phone app - pay your bill in under one minute by scanning the code on your paper bill or logging into the app - pay in ANY tiny restaurant with only your phone in under 30 seconds (scan QR code, pay merchant) - send red pockets (money) in under 1 minute - Most apartment door locks switched to password/NFC locks (use your phone to open) - Tracking for any package delivery (which is free 80% of the time) - all packages arrive within at most 4 days (from anywhere in China) - Packages either delivered to your door or dropped at a drop spot where you can pick them up with a password sent to your phone - Recharge your bus/metro pass from your phone, no need to go to the metro station - NO PAPER tickets in metro - you get a one time plastic ticket that you have to return into the machine to exit the metro - no waste at all - Bike sharing starts from 0.20 CAD per 30 minutes - not 5 CAD for 30 minutes - Groupon-like coupons super easy to redeem - All metro cars (on all 16 lines) tracked in real-time on screens in stations - All buses/trolleybuses tracked in real-time - Make appointment to any specialist in any hospital from your phone app - Last week I went to do medical tests, I had 10 tests done in 1.5 hours and got the results the next day on a phone app

Daragon Technology . That is the good side of Shanghai! But you should look at the daily life of the normal people .

I came back to Montreal after four years. At least in the schools they are smart, but the city is so far behind that any efforts will make a difference.

Too bad Habitat '67 didn't become a template for modular architecture instead of being left as a freak of nature. With vision comes a serious responsibility. We can only cherish intelligence by utilizing it, not gawking at it.

The host is a little uneducated for a show about smart cities isn't he? " It's snowing, that's what it's like here 5 months a year right " ? Same person who comes to Vancouver and comments on how cold it must get with the feet of ice and snow we face half of the year. I actually believe that some people honestly expect to see a drop in temp. once they cross the border into Canada. Its summer then winter then summer then winter jumping from one foot to the next. I was in a Gas station in Kelowna a few years ago in July ( it was hot as hell, +38c +102F ) and this jackass comes in with snow pants and gloves on. He says, " Radio said highs in the upper 30's but it feels fair bit warmer than that". Trying to explain the difference between celsius and fahrenheit took over 2 min before I gave up & just said he better get going because once the nightly blizzard began he could be stuck here until the Cavalry came through to save us & the other pioneers.

They're only starting to implement sensors on traffic lights like those that are already in place in every other major city. Montreal a smart city? Not until they get those sensors installed! Because at the moment traffic flow management is antiquated and you'll end up having to stop at EVERY single intersection for a red light for no reason whatsoever (i.e. no cars or pedestrians going through on the cross street). Once your light turns green, you'll make it to the next intersection for another red light. Rinse and repeat. Now Vancouver is an example of a smart city, but not Montreal!

Montreal is anything but a smart city. No roads, no infrastructure, no services, no political will to kill the corruption. What is smart about that? Highest taxed, and least serviced or developed. FACT!
