I used to be a thief! I used to think I was “professional” and no one could catch me. I began VERY young. In middle school in fact. I stole to give things away to friends and associates at school, I looked at it kinda like I was a Robin Hood of sorts! Then I got pregnant and then I had a baby! I had a prescription for pain medicine because I got a tooth pulled one day and as I was waiting I stole stupid stuff like hair pins and cologne- stuff I didn’t use or want. I knew the store was onto me and so I ditched a lot if the product in the bathroom and so they did not find most of what I stole and since I took everything outa the packaging it could not be verified as stolen so basically I got caught with the cologne. I walked outa the store, some senior citizen was at the door as I left and the alarms went off… I made it all the way to my car and she couldn’t keep up with me… but for some reason I turned around and and walked back into the store like I didn’t hear her saying “maaaame…” over and over and over again! So I went back I gave her the cologne and got a citation. I was banned from the store and the worst part is that I used my baby’s stroller as a tool to hide the stuff… Anyways that was twenty-eight years ago and I never stole again… it matters WHAT YOU TELL YOURSELF! HOW???? Do you stop???? You JUST STOP! And over time… paying for everything becomes the new you! Thank GOD I stopped myself! I love me better the way I am now! I’m NOT a thief!

Omg thus was my life back in the 90’s as well! Young mom, and I justified it to myself that I was “stealing from corporations and not people” It started out with stuff I needed then I realized how easy it was to get away with. Until I got caught…with a bunch of stuff in my stroller. I never stole after that again. The embarrassment and humiliation and theft charges set me right.

This is incredibly disturbing. I actually feel very sad for this individual. I'm really sorry for him. I can only imagine how lonely and depressing his life may be. Often times when someone is high functioning with a mental illness (if that is what he has) they may come off as more in power of there actions then it seems because of there ability to clearly communicate what's going on in there head. it still doesn't mean they are able to overcome it any more than a lesser functioning individual especially on there own. I'm sure that when they delved deeper into his situation it would appear that the thievery and risky behavior overall was just a symptom of a much greater issue. Its a great sign that he was willing to come on this show and totally open himself up to humiliation and intense scrutiny. I hope he has gotten help and accepted it.

The saddest point is ine which Dr Phik makes at the beginning of the programme - that is that con artists and thieves do not want therapy. They like the way they are, it works for them. My person was imprisoned for teo years, for behaviour, for deception, for disregard for the law, and for affecting so many people. Sadly, in the UK, my person served 4 months. They refuse all interventions, and hold the view that prison has tough credit. This perso has dual diagnoses of mental health snd addiction, and does not cope well in daily life. Yet, ar the same time, is able to manipulate many, and live life largely on their own terms. Highly intelligent and once privelliged. My dearest friend for almost 10 years.

I guess that it is called, "tough love"..... Sometimes as parents one has to do that to wake up a wayward child ( no matter how old they are). I wish that she would have had time to turn her life around!

You let her sit without Bail for a year? Idk I believe in tough love but if she wasn't convicted I wouldn't have left my child there

Casey has some serious issues. Is he lying about EVERYTHING? Why does he NOT look at the camera? Is he merely looking for ATTENTION or more like FAME? Its difficult watching him disassemble!!

Yep! Micki is awful! I cringed when she said she can’t go to jail because “My kids adore me!”… saying something like, kids need their mother would have been far more appropriate.

I'm surprised that Dr. Phil didn't address the first thief from the kleptomania angle. It sounded to me that he wanted to stop but could not.

Id like to meet Dr Phil for my experiences with people. I believe it's my personality for which Im either vulnerable, or I play my part in becoming a target. Thank you, Dr Phil, for your content on this subject. Prayers for all who encounter this kind of thing in their lives, and thoughts for all who are going through something at this time. Psychologists and counsellors - Psychiatrists can truly help you to guide you through some ways of thinking. Techniques which truly work. Therapies and groups are also useful. I believe the United States lead in offering Psych support, but I do hope they are accessible to anybody who needs them. We live in a sad and troubled world

My niece was called to be on the show but turned it down. Her sister had sent her story into the show. My one niece is mentally challenged and has a husband also mentally challenged and he is abusive. Dr Phil wanted to help her, but she was afraid to go on, and share. Would have probably helped her get out! 😊

@@Suzi64grad hi, I am so sorry it didn't work out. Dr Phil takes firm action to help people. I am on the Autism Spectrum, so I understand your niece a little bit. She's afraid Dr Phil will be harsh to her, in front of an audience. I wonder if there are support services nearby you can speak with about your niece and her husband? Is this available to you? Be keeping you and yours in my thoughts

@@JoanneMaher76 Thank you for your sweet words. She is getting care from the state, and I think you are right. She was afraid for people to know her story! Her hubby had actually moved a girlfriend in with them….she didn’t know how to handle. Her sister tries to help and as I shared she wrote to Dr Phil. The state helped them with housing and so she at least didn’t have to move. Thanks for understanding! ❤️

The 1st guy opened up the doorway to demons, left it open, is now letting them lead his sickness & is clearly unable to repent or feel sorry for his actions. He is only crying for his "lack of happiness," not bc of his actions. This is situation he needs Jesus for.

Ehhh... I dont think the first guy is remorseful, I think his brother is right when he says he is a sociopath. No genuine grief or remorse, his emotions change way to quickly - I think the thrill for him is teying to fool Dr. Phil. This guy is going to back to stealing as soon as he is out those doors.

I am a thief too (not a practicing one, but once a thief always a thief). The first man has a point. If you want to steal anything from a store just act like you aren't doing anything wrong. I have stolen fish from a pet store by just asking the employee to put it in a bag and just walked out the front door. Who steals a fish? Most of the time if you don't act like anything is wrong or you own the place no one will question you. I am glad I am not like that anymore.
