On a recent podcast Jordan revealed how he felt in that moment, and that he didnt ultimately care about the trivia because it didnt take away his appreciation in japan. No, in that moment he was actually dumb founded that Conan had taken this much effort to debunk his trivia, AND that he had held off for the entire trip. What you see on that face is not sadness, its confusion and awe at conan's patience lol

Always really, really, really enjoyed this duo but just now asking myself if they may infact be the best comedy duo ever, across a relatively much smaller sample than some other great duos. To their credit, I think there's an even higher potential to their comedy in the stuff we don't see, or that they're even funnier just naturally interacting without the edits or putting on a show for the camera, as much as that last part might diminish Conans driving these interactions in such a wild, showman fashion. Anyway, like 99% of you weirdos watching these on repeat like me, I think these guys are just the funniest thing. Happy holidays, nerd. Stop reading and watch more Conan.

Definitely. It should be noted that Jordan wasn't allowed to explain (or it was cut in editing) that the launch of his fascination with Japanese culture did not hinge on whether scenes were *_actually_* shot in Japan or were simply made to look like they were (although included in the edit was when he said he understood movies are make-believe at 05:58 - probably only because Conan cross-talked with his "you fraud" bit). Either way, KK2 attempted to convey Japanese culture, and it obviously resonated with Jordan. They edited it to look like Jordan was blindsided by a revelation that was not germane to his fascination (although it will likely cause him to do a little more research on similar things of his interest in the future). It was certainly Conan-funny and Jordan-awkward.

Considering the fact that Conan graduated with a degree in History at Harvard, I like to think that he actually researched the significance of this traditional tea ceremony beforehand and wrote this sketch as both an informative piece on Japanese cultures and traditions while simultaneously making it enjoyable to watch by subversing how it is usually done. If this was true, and I wholeheartedly believe it is, then this just proves just how much of a genius Conan really is in terms of being a comic and an academic.

I don't think Japanese people would find it as humorous. To add to that, a lot of clothes with English print don't make sense in Japan anyway. They might see Shinto and think it's related to the shrines and temples. Oh god I'm Jordan.

I had a vegetarian version of this type of meal when I was staying at a Buddhist monastery in Japan, and it was weirdly one of the most memorable experiences of the trip. The meal was a scheduled part of the package, we went to an assigned room at the monastery after a full day of exploring the mountain town and the whole meal arrangement was prepared and waiting for us. It was a cold rainy night in November, and we ate sitting on the tatami floor of a modest private room, with the hum of a space heater in the corner. Afterward I took a hot bath and went to bed. That doesn’t really have anything to do with the video, but it just brought back a really good memory for me.

I had a faux pas with "Buddhists" before. Well, more than one. One time, I was teaching English in the night shift for some insane reason(since then I lacked almost any free time). My "friend" dumped his students in my class, and I was drawing picturesof things with their names written on the board as well. I talked about chickens, and said that they're delicious. The "Buddhists" didn't eat meat. Another time I threw my baby's clohtes over the head of a sitting lady ("Buddhist") to my ex-wife. I knew that even if I missed, and the clothes hit her head, it was just cute baby clothes, not any bit damaging, but the lady complaied afterwards to my feminazi ex-wife. Sheesh.
