Alice in Videoland is my favourite cinema here. They frequently play the smaller hits of the year and are home to some of the great festivals that play too. My partner and I have had an account with them for years and James is always a pleasure to interact with.

Best video store I've ever been to anywhere in the world. Been going there since I was a kid in the 80's. Completely introduced me to the world of film. Remember my Mum renting the entire Marx brothers catalogue from there when I was about 8, and was totally obsessed. It's been a while, so need to pop in.

I really feel like we've lost something special with the end of the video rental store. I used to live in Portland Maine over here in the states and we had an absolute gem of a video store called Videoport. They had a massive collection of obscure foreign and cult movies and I loved browsing through the selection and getting recommendations from the staff.
@culwin15 күн бұрын
@@mikesanborn4541 I don't know about Maine but the public library in my state is a great source. Probably 95% of obscure movies I've been able to find, and of course they are free to borrow. Republicans are at war with the library system and education of course, so watch out for that.

I wasn't the biggest fan of either, but at least MM:FR was visually inventive and pure kinetic fun... Something I also thought of while watching this. Also about the Bluray, at least here in Finland, it never really killed the DVD, mainly just resided alongside. I dunno almost anything about the collectors/movie buff scene but I reckon that most of the films they have are in DVD. Also what is Betamax? Was it something superb vs VHS? edit: I just checked that my "DVD" player is an actual Bluray player but I'm pretty sure that I don't own a single BR-disc. Tho I own like max. 20 DVD-films.
@ChrisAlders-eh7cq14 күн бұрын
@@jerekorva Thank you for commenting. Many people got rid of their DVD collections and regretted it because streaming services are truly unreliable. Many films from even 20 years ago are not available on streaming so from my perspective it is not worth the time of day. Far better to have a DVD/BlueRay library!

Conan, I like you, we grew up together, except I stopped at 32. Anyway, you must be a horrible person to work for. Sonya has such a, and I like her too, she adds a lot to the show. And yes, I can be a huge penis although I'm a helper of mankind at heart. Back to my point. Sonya has such a bad fake laugh at stuff that ain't funny. Conan, your super power is you're very likable. And funny, but most funny when scripted. And she, and the fellow on a lesser scale, fake laughs at unfunny guest also. She is Ed McMahoning it. Now I'm a human, my greatest weakness, so I fake it to get along. But take a lesson from me and Casablanca.... Stop caring so much and it will be great. Conan, don't try to be funny every minute, stress your superpower, likable sageist. Or I could be 100% wrong.
