Thx for video Mate. I watched this stream and your video is just a nice summary for me. First of all, the new "living workers" system is something incredibly exciting for me and for every RP. I've seen the opinions of people who are afraid that it will burden the server and that no one needs it. In my opinion, they are wrong, this game needs a "revival" of thrals, I hope Funcom continues to follow this lead. The new building set, for me, at first glance is something that my Argosian cities cannot do without, so I blindly buy it. When it comes to the two special NPCs, I'm super fascinated because I remember from Age of Conan and The Secret World how great Funcom can handle the story and quest layer of the game. Unfortunately, one thing in the stream really outraged me - when they talked about Bazaar, they didn't even mention that they knew that the prices there were astronomical. This makes me believe that Funcom will not change its policy of extreme prices, because people simply complain about them, but they still buy everything as it comes. Finally, I hope that the time Funcom has to refine the changes is enough for the update to launch without major errors.

Thanks Piotr! I'm a big fan of both companions and living settlements, I've seen some saying that nobody asked for Living Settlements, I don't think that's true at all. Concerns about performance are warranted though, it won't be too long until beta testers can get their hands on it and see what state it's at right now, hopefully it's better than expected. I don't think they've mentioned Bazaar pricing specifically on streams before, though I might be wrong, I've watched too many streams at this point 😂 I imagine the pricing choices are out of the hands of Dennis, Andy and Nicole too. Prices have been mostly settled for a while outside of some outliers (Arcane Revisited @ $5 and Celestial Observer at nearly $30), and I imagine it will stay that way for a while. If that's their sweet spot for now, I take the opinion that it's a battle for another day. I think it's more important to put pressure on to fix bugs and improve quality, it's far higher on my pyramid of issues. Not that it's wrong to complain about prices of course, I do it in most reviews, I just think that quality control & bug fixing is a more foundational issue that should be fixed first

So long as performance isn't an issue, it's possibly one of the best roleplay-centric additions they've added, and makes things feel far more dynamic for standard PvE too. I am concerned about thralls wandering around with the current falling through foundations bug, but hopefully the failsafe system of the tavern that teleports thralls to their seat after a while of trying to pathfind will be here too, at least while they're trying to fix the foundations issue

Mounted archers and warriors are needed. You need armies of Thralls grouped into 10. You need tactics. Like "phalanx", testudo and schiltrom for Thralls.

I was worrying about this when a tavern system was introduced, and I have to repeat it here as well again: players should have the options to set some pieces of furniture (beds, chairs etc.) as "private" for their characters. When I build a base, I always include "private chamber" for my character, which includes bed and at least one chair and table. I really don't like the idea of one of my thralls or even stray visitor of tavern makes themselves comfortable on those.

I agree, the ability to restrict thrall access to certain areas would be very nice. I get the impression you can do that by building their amenities close to their crafting area so they never want to go further away, but it would be nice to have a solid way to just prevent them from ever accessing certain items/areas

@@Eradicati0nn Well, since my characters are also artisans, another part of their "private quarters" is artisan bench (usually Turanian, although Argossean is nice as well), and as they are mostly settling on IoS, delving bench is ocassionally present there as well. These thralls might became a bit problem.

About the worker thralls, will be nice if hava an option to turn on/off the needs of them be or not cosmetic, thralls really needing food will be a plus on the challenge of the game, and if put the needs relative to the culture of the thralls will be interesting. About the companions, funcon open the door, the modders will full the mods page with companions, no doubt. I like the way that funcon is inproving the game.

Nice video. Interesting information. Well done. One little piece of constructive criticism, though (unrelated to the narration or theme of the video, _per se):_ You made "spiral staircases" while building your palace where people ascending them turn left as they climb. This goes contrary to history. Spiral staircases were usually constructed to make people ascending them turn _right_ so that in case of invasion, those who were upstairs could easily swing their swords right-handed, while those ascending were made to swing them "backhand" in their right hands or left-handed as they climbed. This was designed into castles, forts and palaces in order to give a "home field advantage" to the existing occupiers of these edifices.

Am looking forward to this. A lot. I used your suggestion when placing my tavern barkeep to get some NPCs wandering about the base. Really looked good. Will welcome more immersion, and really welcome the new heroes (guessing/hoping Conan pops into that list as last Hero possibly?) Will also be fun on PvP servers as infiltrators can sneak in by walking in and pretending to be one of the thralls. Will be a lot of fun. (of course, we will have the slew of glitches on Update release followed by subsequent patches and hotfixes, but I think it will be positive overall) Also will look forward to see if/how Modders could incorporate similar using the mechnics. Live in hope. New build pieces I may finally buy should it only be via the Bazaar (urgh)

They're both Pippi tools. Camloc is in number 2, and the mask icon is a Thespian, basically a placeable decorative actor that can be dressed up, made to emote etc

Bazaar prices are indeed pretty high outside of building sets. Even something as simple as "earn this amount of XP to get this reward for the week" would be a good idea I think, nice and simple with an easy reward

I agree. I for one am going to miss the battlepass. It was basically 60 fun items (mostly arbitrary) that sometimes had some great pieces, for practically next to nothing. Each battlepass just got cheaper. after 4 it was like getting about 3 of the old dlc's for the price of one. It also gave me something to actually log on and play for on a regular basis. I can see my playing drop off significantly after the novelty of getting the two new thralls is over.

If you have to "place" a crafting thrall now, will you be limited as to how many you can have like combat thralls? My current combined count would exceed the maximum allowed on the official servers

Yes, but all crafting thralls on benches will remain as items until they're placed, so you won't suddenly log on over the limit, they only count when they're placed. That being said, if you can use one crafting thrall on multiple benches, like a single smelter across 4 or 5 furnaces, it might help to cut the fat in your ranks without giving up important bonuses

I've loved this game since the beta. Hands down my favorite game. I recently hopped on wanting to play some pvp, and was shocked at how empty the pvp servers were. Is this game going to pivot towards purely a creative sandbox tool, where building cities and even things like npc wars become the focus? If so, I would LOVE that, and have no complaints. I for one am glad bazaar prices are high. I've bought every single DLC because I feel every new 3d asset they make is a work of art.

I can definitely see where having the worker thralls counting against your thrall count is going to be an issue. Consider you will have three thralls on many benches, the damage thrall, the weight reduction thrall and the decay thrall. That one bench has reduced your fighters by three. Now add in all those other benches, and your fighting force is down to the squad level. This is going to be an issue for the purge on PvE servers, but a major issue for life in general on PvP servers. Hopefully, this will be adjustable on private servers, but life on official servers is going to get complicated.

Unofficial servers do indeed have control over their own follower limits as far as I know, Dennis also mentioned that on stream. One thing that might prove to be a benefit is if one thrall can work multiple benches, like 1 smelter for multiple furnaces. If the system works that way, it may reduce the impact of workers now being counted in the follower limit

@Eradicati0nn True, but the main reason most people have multiple furnaces is to increase production output. My clan had 8 furnaces, 4 dedicated to iron/steel production and 4 to brick production. And yes it's primarily a builder thing, but I'm guessing most people have at least 2. But in any event, I am looking forward to having the base look like it is inhabited. Can't wait to start digging into this on the 22nd.

The problem is you can only operate the one station the thrall is at, and in the case of running furnaces, your output is a single unit, not two units if you are running two benches each with its own thrall. I'm also unsure of exactly how thralls will be counted. If you have, for example, an armorer's bench with 3 thralls, which you can select based on what you want the armor to be like do all 3 count or only the one you selected? From the sound of it, you place the workers like you place fighters, so I'm guessing all 3 count all the time. I can't wait for the 22nd to get here to start investigating. ☺️

For now, yeah. I wouldn't be surprised if patrol routes come at some point, but I think it's the best more for now to keep fighters and archers static, they have a more important job to serve in terms of defence

That would be a great feature another would be to allow bearer thralls to go out and gather resources you can chose what resource you want them to gather and they teleport away then after so long they come back and automatically put the resource in the appropriate storage container then do it again. To keep immersion they don't automatically just teleport instead you will actually see them walk out of the base and once they get out of render range they disappear.

the crafting thralls update is almost great, but instead is terrible and for 1 reason only: thrall limit on official to be great: both the old and new system should be usable at the same time or have crafting thrall limit be a separate number and counter from current thrall limit or a npc say in sepemeru or the northen camp on siptah that can convert a following thrall/pet back into token keeping lvl, stats, perks

I've not experienced it myself, but I hear undermeshing is a massive issue in PvP, and I imagine it can cause problem in PvE too if clans are just building enormous bases below the map. The inventory issues are also a major bug, I'm not sure why it wasn't mentioned, but I think falling through foundations is probably the biggest issue there is right now

Speed hacks, Hitbox pulling, Pulling stuff out of benches outside your base. Its destroyed the population on PVP but seems they pretend it doesnt happen even though people are reported daily

Of the companions? I think so, the way Dennis phrased it, it sounds like either you can repeat their quests to get different perks, or level a new companion entirely

So now I can lose valuable crafting thralls to movement glitches and anyone who wants to train a load of enemies into my base or I have to close everything off super tight and allow no one to see anything. What a delightful idea for pve that's going to not at all make the game unplayable for months. Got to love that putting out new content to make money is priority over fixing bugs.

I have about a dozen dogs, little bears, rabbits and a rat giving my base life, that coupled with the bar is enough for me. I'm afraid this is gonna be lag city. Which is why they're lowering the thrall cap. Lowering the thrall cap cheeses me off. Talk about moving in the wrong direction. Umm, suppose I could give up my 3 year old official server and find a good private one. Would definitely like to see them bump up some officials to barbaric as well. The game had almost zero risk and now with thrall revive there is zero risk of losing thralls. Take away the edge you take away the fun

They haven't confirmed anything with the thrall cap yet, it's in testing and Dennis said something along the lines of it would be announced beforehand if the thrall cap does move. It's very possible that Living Settlements could be rough on performance, hopefully this is a good chance for the QA team to prove they can do good work with the changes to update cadence. I'm optimistic, but yeah, there's definitely potential for some hefty performance issues

Yeah. My official servers can crash in a morning purge with just a few people online. Wish they'd just remove some more of the dead servers like they did in the past. But take the savings and actually upgrade what's left.

The ideas are good indeed... but I fear that all will end in a chaotic mess... specially with all the crafters wandering around the base "minding their business." 😬 now the game is barely playable because of the lag, I can't even imagine what will happen after this new "update".

I generally like the idea of thralls walking around your base. I do not like that the crafting thralls will count twords the cap though. The developers should make the fighters and performers walk around and leave the crafters at their stations. I'm also worried that this will lead to more lag. Lag is one of Conan Exiles major problems.

To be fair, I don't think there's any way around the thrall cap that makes sense. It could lead to more lag for sure, I'm hoping it'll be no more than having crafting thralls animating at stations would, but I'm ready for it to cause more. They mentioned the QA team testing server performance a couple of times, so I'm hoping it'll be a good chance for the QA team to show they can do good work with the extra time they've gained from the update cadence changes

Aside from the stuff in the Bazaar section, everything else is a free gameplay update The Argossean extension is most likely gonna be 1200cc/$10. The other bundles? Well, that's anyone's guess 😂

I feel the lag already when thralls exit their boxes and begin roaming around. As for the companions, let's see how it works after the boredom of the wild hunt in AoW4. Bazaar since it was introduced, I completely ignore. Should they bring back coherent and complete DLCs back, I will buy out of game, never in. Crafting thralls in purges is the only feature that sounds possible for them to implement successfully and needed, since their AoW chapters were all incomplete and introduced ridiculous bugs. Falling through foundations will make players die at random spots in the map... wow, how bad is their codebase?

DLC's will never return because of the development model, it just doesn't bring in the money needed for development. Also, the dying at random spots was in relation to if they try to aggressively patch undermeshing, nothing to do with falling through foundations 😂 The last time people were dying in random spots was because they fixed a few undermeshes too aggressively

Undermeshing is too complicated for the devs to fix too. That said, I'm very worried about how this will impact performance. Also, it is going to be ruinous for PvP, but that's it's own can of worms. Already followers block doorways constantly, it's only going to get worse with this... I'm also mildly irked that they have gone back to ignoring Siptah. Hopefully they add at least one companion in a future chapter.

So we are continue sponsoring and playtesting their new game/milking machine's features in Conan Exiles. At least they can not really cannibalize all the elements like they did before from Age of Conan. They do not care, and it is clearly shows. Their body language is wrong (quote from Razma), they won't addressing the real issues, the stream purpose was only creating hype and showing their incompetence: lack of ability to create a coherent presentation, or playing the game, hiding the clearly unfinished features (my favourite is the 3 thrall in the same spot stuck in eachother). It will be the same, all over again.

Genuinely couldnt care less about the "living settlements". Im so glad they focused 90% of the stream on what amounts to new bazaar purchases and poor server performance. Companions only coming to Exiled Lands? So everyone who bought and likes playing on Siptah can just go shove it. Goes to show Siptah was an afterthought during and post release. God I hate this company. Looking forward to uninstalling the game.

Summary - Funcom removed Battle pass ( only value for money components left in game ) to move more resources to work on overpriced Bazaar item development. The game is still plagued by bugs ( old and new one ) and focus is still on paid cosmetics. New content / mechanic looks unfinished and as usually is unsupported on 2nd map ... Funcom milking hard Conan IP ...

Personally I think it brings very little to the table. All they did was make tavern ai work on all "friends" not to call them the T word. I'm just saying, prepare for some huge NPC pathfinding issues. They might even be funny in some cases. I'm not saying it's bad (yet), i'm saying they didn't add anything new, they just expanded on existing feature. oh and prepare for them 40 dollars bazzar prices.
