I never smoked weed (or anything) until my mid-30s, and just starting smoking the straight herb deep-inhaling has yet to make me cough. It was vaping (supposedly easier on your lungs: Don't Believe It!) that not only made me cough, but cough up blood. As long as the weed is clean, not filled with pesticides or sprayed with some accelerant, there's no reason it should make you cough unless you hold the smoke in your lungs too long.

What I appreciate the most about this clip, is that Seth told him to only take one hit, and see how he feels in a little bit. That's a genuine friend there. He wants you to be able to enjoy it, instead of having a panic attack, and thinking you're gonna die. I remember watching Jack Black have a panic attack on 'Getting Doug with High', and I just felt really bad for him. You could tell he didn't really want to do it in the first place, and it just did not end up being a good time. And what's the point, after all, if you're not going to have a good time, right? Anyway, Seth seems like someone you could trust in that situation.
