And that is what's wrong with it! Conan is NOT about a boy growing up simply to slay his boogeman. Rather Conan is the ebodiment of "high adventure". Go and read Mr. Howad's origanl stories and you will see what i mean. Only one man alive could have pulled off this score--Joseph LoDuca!

Because his music wasn't about adventure, but more about destiny and a kid who finally manages to kill a boogeyman from his childhood. Tyler's music showed that really good. The problem was that Marcus Nispel didn't know how to show that shit and it ended up being clunky. Conan 2011 could've been better than even the original, if they'd put more work in it. I'm not a fan of the original either, the only good thing about it was Basil and the Frazetta inspired set design.

I read his original stories. But he didn't think about high adventure from the beginning. It's like saying SUperman wanted tto be a savior since he first landed on earth. Any hero has a journey. At least I didn't get any of the "Jew killed my fatha, jew took my fathas swooood"

Basil's music elevates it a bit, but it also doesn't fit too well with it. Not the music's fault though. The music is flawless. I think it has to do with how fast the trailer is edited.

Yes, a hero has a journy, but it is that journy that brings us adventure!--and the music needs to be fitting of that adventure, or else it does not fit. it would be like trying to watch the origan conan with the theme to "The Hunt for Red October". while another briliant peice by Mr. Pollduris, it simply does not work. See?

Tyler Bates score sucks, he has no consept of "high adventure". the music from the cartoon is more badass than his!!!!!

I respect your opinion, I just found it the kind of movie you enjoy only if you accept that an invading army would kill adults and turn only children to slaves, a barbarian apparently is shaved on his whole body and has the body of a bodybuilder, not through labor, has a VERY fake wig on his head, the villain has no background story whatsoever, the gore of the movie is fake as hell and 20% of the movie they just run around to "supposedly" kingdoms that are actually just Jerusalem. Dunno...

Razvan Dragu I understand that people don't like the movie, but to me it seems that you are too concerned with realism in a movie which isn't too important really. Any movie can be picked apart for that. I also think the movie is more intelligent(ly crafted) under the surface than one would expect it to be. Not like a movie of the great masters, but in quite many little details. Just saying, because I know this normally doesn't do much to change someone's opinion about a movie and I respect that.
