I love this animation style, but ... Why is Conan slender and boyish? He's younger in this tale, but he should still be a big man with a deep voice. Why does he have this cool, smirking, calculating air about him? That's not the Conan I know. He's sick with a hangover in prison? What? And what the hell is this white knight crap about, "where I come from, we defend a lady's honor"??? This is Conan the Barbarian, not Sir Dandy Wanker from Lord Hufflepuff's court.
@morgandahlberg92129 жыл бұрын
***** I think the artist was more going for how Conan was described in the original stories, than how he's more commonly portrayed in art and more recent tales - I don't have any quotes to pull up, but I do very much remember that Robert E. Howard described him more as being wiery than anything else - still filled with a great strength, but not an over-muscled body-builder. Same deal for the white-knight thing. To be honest - I was actually more thrown off by his voice, than anything - Vic's is one of my favorites, but you're right in that it doesn't have the power in it that Conan's voice should have (that, and I can't help but think of Edward every time he speaks).

+Esper the Bard Robert E. Howard wrote Conan as a "Genius Bruiser" type that was just as well read as he was strong. And he often spoke in an articulated way. But you are right on the fact that this Conan needs a bulkier build to pass as Howard's Character. Though he is wearing the clothing that he usually wears in the books.
@esperthebard8 жыл бұрын
Weird Tale I have read most of the Conan stories, and I don't recall him ever reading. Didn't he say books are for weak men with skinny arms? Conan was more cunning, perceptive, bold, and of quick wits than academic and articulate.

FYI this motion comic is based on the very story where the real Conan says "what is best in life": "Let me live deep while I live; let me know the rich juices of red meat and stinging wine on my palate, the hot embrace of white arms, the mad exultation of battle when the blue blades flame and crimson, and I am content. ... I live, I burn with life, I love, I slay, and am content.” Queen of the Black Coast (1934) - Robert E. Howard

This is one of the two comics I regularly pick up (the other being Mouse Guard: The Black Axe, when it does show). The stories have been great, I love Becky Cloonan's artwork, and James Harren's fight scenes in #4 to #6 are fantastic. The art really suffers in #8 and #9 (Vasilis Lolos), but it's definitely a worthwhile series overall.

This is awesome :D I like this story. That society sucks ass in the worst way. Go Conan. Btw I was in the exact same situation when this girl that I kind of knew had this dude beat up her boyfriend for cheating on her. So the Union Beach cops were all over the place because this dude kept beating him and then they ran away and hid somewhere. So this cop stops me on the street and keep asking me where they went but I kept telling him that I didn't know because I really didn't. So the cop drags me down to the station and slaps me with "Obstruction of justice" charge, but I beat it anyway. Sorry for the long comment, but I'm just saying I can relate.
