@@Muzikrazy213 The "gray on gray" quip led to an attempt to add color to some office buildings. I left the company a couple of years after that so not sure how well it took hold. Friends who stayed said it didn't work out too well but it's been years since then (Conan did this bit in 2007).

But i like the interviews too, thats how most of us non Americans find out about him. He's definitely a great interviewer, as seen on his podcasts and whenever decent guests come on his show. He's a great writer, as evidenced by his time on the Simpsons and SNL, and the Late Night show, and he's the complete package of physical, absurdist and verbal comedy as evidenced by his remotes. The man's a modern comedy legend, definitely one of the top comedians in the last 30 years. America's lucky to have him, hope they show him the respect he deserves, but he's def an international treasure too.

I was at Intel when this was filmed and air back in the day. Wow I even recognize some of the faces in the cafeteria. These cubicles look like a different world now--not sure what Intel has changed to now but I have switched to a software company in 2014 and it's been open office space for me ever since. Equally depressing. The no individuality part is also the same across tech , software or hardware.
@zzoinks4 жыл бұрын
That sucks. I think there'd be more creativity and innovation if everybody could express themselves. Plus, if it wasn't so serious there than people would have a nicer job (I think). How are the bosses at tech companies? I really love all the funny teachers I've had because everybody always laughs and still wants to learn. I think a funny boss would be a lot better than a scary or serious boss, because they could cheer everybody up and just be nice to everybody.

@carlotta4th3 жыл бұрын
Open office space is even worse than cubicles. At least with cubicles you can visually tune coworkers out, and maybe have a figurine or cute picture to make it feel slightly more custom. Open office space is just SO distracting and I'll be glad when that corporate trend finally dies down.

Thats why he got into Harvard because This is a perfect example of logical vs creative/ critical thinking ... conan really put that guy in his place with his quick creative repartees ... Einstein was right when he said -"logic takes you from A to B but imagination takes you everywhere"............
@vizn91184 жыл бұрын
Apply that logic to a company trying to do the next big thing with what they got and the former part of that quote makes a lot of sense. Honestly, without A to B thinking do you think "everywhere" is even possible given the laws of physics the human race knows about? Imagine it: Person 1 says, "Dudes, imagine all the things we could do!" and Person 2 says, "I can. But how do we get there?" Person 1 says, "I don't know. Be creative!" and Person 2 says, "Let me think on that." Stupidity is thinking that there is only one way or answer to questions that one doesn't even know to ask yet.

Something cool from social psychology: actually enclosed cubicle is better for difficult and novel tasks, and a open office layout (i.e. there are mere presence of other people) inhibits performance for abovementioned tasks, but is better for simple and well-learned tasks. For reference, see Robert Zajonc's experiment on social faciliation and countless experiments after him which backs his theory.
