i love my concept 2 PM5. absolute bullet proof machine.
@petertu7748

These things are bullet proof. We put one in our police station gym over 10 years ago. It’s been used daily, multiple times a day. It’s never broken down while everything else has (like our commercial quality treadmill, elliptical, recumbent). We don’t even maintain it. They are so reliable and such a complete workout, I bought one for home

This is an awesome review, thanks for posting it! We have a Concept 2 Model D at home as well. We’ve had it for just over 3yrs now, my wife and I both use it twice a week, it has over 900,000 meters on it and we’ve never had any issues with it. These rowers are truly built to last.

@@rogersmith7808 Definitely worth the money! You get what you pay for and Concept2 delivers the quality. I had no issues with the Model D and I had some really great workouts. And being able to do workouts indoor during winter is such a blessing. Enjoy!

My model C is 20 years old, still works great though I am replacing the PM2 with a PM5 later today. Wondering if I need to take apart the fan cover and get rid of any dust and such. Guess I'll find another video on that topic.

Just got a used one but when taken apart to transport I noticed corrosion on one of the stainless steel connecting beams. I’m planning on sanding it down and lubricate to prevent from reoccurrence but is that an issue of concern?

To be specific the monorail is aluminum not stainless steel and the brass ring is in fact bronze

Silicone based lube in the chain works?
@Mitchell-b7d
@Mitchell-b7d Жыл бұрын
Totally get that, but is there, like, a simple accessory or method to make rowing machine chain maintenance easier?
@concept2usa
@concept2usa Жыл бұрын
Hello, we don't have a specific accessory. A second person to hold the chain, or pulling it out slowly and guiding the oiled cloth over it tend to be the easiest.

Dumb question here: when not in use, should I leave the handle on the rest as you have done here, or take it off and let it rest up against the fan wheel?
@concept2usa
@concept2usa 4 жыл бұрын
We recommend leaving it on the rest. There were rumors flying around years ago (maybe flying is an exaggeration) that it wasn't good for the chain or cord, but that's false. The rest is the right place.

Anyone have a recommendation for a non toxic or perhaps food safe oil? I don't understand why the manufacturer recommends 3 in 1 when it is toxic to inhale...

How often do I need to replace the wheels under the seat of my concept d-2?
@concept2usa

There isn’t a set duration, the short answer is as needed. If they feel okay they don’t need to be replaced. Feel free to email us info@concept2.com with any other repair questions.

The buttons on our YMCA erg with PM5 monitor are sticky or don't respond at all, yet the monitor comes alive once you start rowing. Also, the ErgData app connects OK, and I never saw the CONNECT function on the monitor. I suspect sweaty fingers, dust, and little maintenance on the monitor. What do you recommend for freeing up the buttons?
@experimentalcyborg
@experimentalcyborg Жыл бұрын
I doubt they're going to respond but just treat it like any other battery powered electronic device that's past warranty. Remove the power source, take it apart, and clean it with mild soapy water and a tooth brush. If that doesn't work, you can use rubbing alcohol and a q-tip on the circuit board and its components, and potentially on the plastic housing but any paint or printed lettering might come off. Then let it air dry thoroughly (make absolutely sure there is no moisture trapped underneath any of the components), reassemble and put in fresh batteries.

I would avoid using windex or other window cleaner on the screen. It can damage plastic. Eyeglass lens cleaner is safe.
