I wish, as other person said in the comments that more had been said about the inertia factor, C2 is forgiving on that you can pull hard and take a second between pulls at mid range damper settings but likely on this machine, given how magnetic resistance works, should not be as forgiving (if any at all). More details about the actual experience of using it would be great. As for price point, it depends on the need: If you care for your wall and floor space (most garage gym owners) and don’t care for the workout data storage, then this is a great product idea. C2 doesn’t make this cheaper really, if you want to open the wall space you need to pay also for the stand, which is very expensive IMO. Also C2 charges 100 for shipping, when all is added C2 ends up being more expensive than torque even when including the wall mount because shipping is free on this item if you don’t care for wall space and don’t want to move it around, then C2 is a no brainer. It is a cheaper option and well known. If you want something you can move around, the only option is C2, but it is not cheap really. Also consider with the stand not only takes wall space but now also floor space (if not space constrained then who cares, but if you are, then something to consider). I own a C2 skierg and it is mounted to the wall, I wouldn’t sell mine to buy this really, but if I was in the process of buying, this would have been a serious option to consider to get back that space in the wall to move other machines closer and open more floor space, or put hangers under it for storing bands and other stuff which doesn’t get in the way of its use

I’ve been waiting for a review. A bit expensive but worth it. I understand the Ripper isn’t an end game to C2 skierg but as a 2 car garage gym owner, floor space is a premium. I don’t like clutter. Im already rocking a Jacob’s Ladder 2, Rogue echo bike, and C2 rower. I’m good with the Ripper being an excellent alternative to the skierg. Torque Fitness is making some quality equipment. The design looks pretty sweet to me.
@andersbjrnsen72036 ай бұрын
With those three options already in place + walking, biking and running probably being an available option, what do you want a ski erg for anyway if space is scarce?
@laspaceboy6 ай бұрын
@@andersbjrnsen7203 The Ripper will be installed on my rack opposite side of the Tq Fitness endless rope. I recently sold my C2 Ski erg on Offer Up to purchase the Ripper. I enjoy switching up cardio workouts to reduce boredom. I did enjoy the ski erg though. 😎

It was about $400 more than what I was expecting lol. I could try to justify the price but there were so many reviews about the rope wearing out (fraying) that there’s no scenario where I want it in my home.

For what goes into building it and the relatively low volume, shipping, etc the price seems reasonable. The issue is that the Concept2 has a great price for what is arguably a better product.

Excellent, honest review. I actually am surprised skierg is your favorite machine. I have one and the C2 rowerg and much prefer the rowerg. I do use them both, but average 100-150k a month on rowerg and only 10-20k on Skierg. I have mine on the stand and in a garage gym where space is at a premium, I like the idea of the Torque a lot. I have their sled and love it. Great company.

Good Lord, the stickers. Everywhere. Whomever was in charge of the stickers was working overtime. Such a shame--it's a nice piece of equipment that looks cheap due to the stickers. A few more stickers and they wouldn't have needed to paint it...

I wonder if you could swap those pulley brackets with each other, so the rounded side of them is facing out. That might fix the rubbing issue on the rope without having to cut anything.

Looks like you need a pretty high rack for this thing not to get in your way. And I'd be leery of mounting it on a 2x4 wall given the dynamic horizontal loads it creates.

Normally I'd dismiss Skierg competitors out of hand, but rackmounting might give them a reason for being. Although your suggestion at the end is spot on, if there was some modularity to keep the cost down if you get multiple Relentless machines. Titan was protyping a rack-attached endless rope at HGC and you have to think their price will be competitive.

great to see more rack attached cardio pieces in the industry. Excited to see where it goes as not everyone can get the space for a C2 bikereg, rower or Echo bike. Although ofc the jump rope is a great alternative

How heavy is the flywheel? I generally dislike magnetic resistance (even in high-end rowers and bikes) for two reasons: drag is constant regardless of speed; inadequate inertia. Together, I find the experience as pleasant as ploughing through wet sand by foot or bike (i.e. not). The latter is mitigated by a large flywheel. It looks like there isn't space for a large flywheel in this setup. How long does it spin after you pull? It would seem to me that for the rope application, you would not want any significant inertia, but for skiing you would.

99% of people who really know C2 SkiErg would buy C2 unless this version had a price was 1/2 that of C2. Space saving? I guess it helps but if someone who has a large weight rack in their gym AND still wants a SkiErg in their gym, would just find a way to squeeze in a C2.

To each his or her own. However, in my opinion, the best way to do cardio exercise is to do something that you enjoy doing, which includes playing ping pong, basketball, or using a Fitness First medicine ball rebounder. I had a Nordic Track ski exercise machine before. I got rid of it because IMO exercising on a ski machine is boring.
