If you wanna have more than just a normal vacation, then you need to be prepared as much as possible for extra stuff. Furthermore, many people often become too afraid when they here stories about people getting scammed by pleasure services, so they back away from it completely. I say that sometimes you need to take some chances if you want to have different kinds of fun. Just do your research carefully on where you plan to go, what you plan to do, and use your common sense all the time. Do these, and you’ll have less problems.

Japan is no different then anywhere else. People get the false since of safety because of the low crime rate. That doesn’t mean you shouldn't watch out for shady practices. I come from a small community which has had huge problems with trafficking. Never thought my sleepy boring town would have such problems like this. Which is probably what makes it an easy target. These kind of services come with considerable risk to ones personal safety. Not to mention their pocketbook so best to avoid them altogether. Good info here as always. :)

Most of the peeps that get scammed (or worse) in this scenario are desperate peeps wanting to get laid and are not thinking properly. I've known a couple of guys that have got beaten because a hottie asked them to go with them to get laid but instead they just get jumped. Just in Japan recently. I had Chinese/Taiwanese girls trying to get me to go with them in Kabukicho, and they were pretending to be Japanese. They just straight up tell you that they are offering sex. I engaged in slight conversation knowing a little of both languages. But I found it funny, a girl would speak Japanese to me, and then Mandarin to another girl, and I would talk to her in Mandarin, and she'd say something "like Ohh you been to Taiwan?" then continue with Japanese. Like I already know you're Chinese, what's the point? That said, the Chinese girls, and the African dudes, just avoid them.

The only difference is, in my country it is legal, but illegal in Japan. Frankly spoken, we met a couple of times during my frequent visits to Japan. I asked her, why she was dating foreigners, especially from western countries, and she told me that the majority of those men were very kind and friendly, doing everything to make her laugh and feel comfortable, and that some of her friends would also like to meet a western man, but were afraid because of the language barrier.

I was exploring the Godzilla area in Shinjuku and I was approached by a foreigner who was selling me a pleasure experience with a Japanese girl but I told him multiple times I wasn’t interested. Honestly one of the downsides I've noticed going to Tokyo and Osaka is the constant barrage of women asking if you want a 'massage' or some will say straight up s*x. In the US prostitution is illegal so when I saw this video and the title I had the expectation that people were coming to Japan for these services and that the government was trying to crack down on it. I’ve been to Japan a handful of times and I know that this is one of those gray areas where it isn’t fully legal in most places but you can find it. It’s like anything in life. That if there is enough demand for something people will find a way to get it. Doing it this way at least makes it safer for everyone involved. Similar to weed in some US states. I personally wouldn’t use these services but it’s interesting to see a different way of handling it. My biggest concern is the age of consent. Each country has its own rules and laws, but underage people need to be protected from this kind of thing. It’s no secret that this is an issue in Japan.

i speak japanese and me and my japanese friend did nanpa in tokyo for 2 weeks. many fun stories. whatever: multiple times we met 20 year old girls who work as delivery hookers or soapland. and almost EVERY girl at night we met works in kyabbakura (it’s hostess bar, but in the end it’s luxury prostitution. my friend worked in such establishment. if the customer puts the right money on the table he can take any girl home). also fukuoka is FULL of kyabas and sex workers. many were recruited when they were working as innocent students in maid cafes. we also met some that have male hostess bar debts and need to work off their debts. okinawa also full of that shit (lived there for 2 months). what’s going on in japan is AWFUL and extremely sad. i love this country a lot and like everything of japan. i have lots of japanese friends and also had a japanese girlfriend (who got abused in her life and shit). the last 25 years due to corrupt politicians this country is really going DOWN. this is extremely sad. i’m studying economics and also writing a book. i’m extremely sad what’s going on in Japan. i have met so many japanese students who tell me they have no good perspectives on life. this is soooo damn sad. i may be denied for the rest of my life for visa’s but i’ll speak out anyway when i’m done with my book. working a normal job here won’t get you anywhere. it’s really horrible. japan has a unique culture, people’s ignorance for democracy and politics make these problems even worse. also the lack of full democracy is a huge problem (japan is an incomplete democracy as every country on this planet except switzerland). most politicians here suck anyway

Interesting thoughts, esp. about kyabakuraa. As far as democracy goes, the problem we need to ask is: "Who is the majority?" If the answer is "intelligent people like us" then we have no problem. If the answer is unemployed single mothers who don't care about politics, OK then we have a problem. There is no way for democracy to succeed in this case, because the voters are going to work against mens' interests. Women live longer than men... So we're basically kinda screwed. Of course, women need to learn to placate men at some point, but that typically won't happen without a collapse. I left Norway, allegedly great country, to pay lower taxes in the poorest country in the EU, i.e. Bulgaria! To me, this is a far, far greater country than Norway. Suppose my income in 80k USD, here I pay about 10k in taxes + tax consultants, while in Norway i pay about 40k. In addition to that, the living costs are twice as high, so effectively I could save 40k+ USD in Bulgaria vs. about 20k in Norway. Ther age of democracy is over, the age of impending collapse... partially due to an aging population, causing taxes to increase even further. Most democracies are communist wrt. their tax policy. A few exceptions exist, so we should live in those countries, etc. Switzerland is an interesting model, but I am not rich enough to live there without paying a ton of taxes. If I were rich I may choose to live there for sure.

I remember when I was in JP and I believe we somehow ended up in a red light district or something in Tokyo after going clubbing, remember being surprised that there were massage parlors every 20-30 meters or something. It's funny the way people judge something they never tried. I used this kind of services 2 times and I don't regret anything. Every big travel destination has scammers that target tourists. Afterall if you just suffer "small" loss many tourists will not go to the police, because who wants to spend their limited holiday interacting with local justice system? Especially if there is a big cultural and language barrier. Just going to report a crime might be very daunting affair. That's why scammers love tourists. Easy way to avoid shady businesses is never listen to some random guy that is on the street trying to get tourists to visit some bar etc.. I’ll tell you from my experience, I used a home delivery service where they sent the girl to my hotel room instead of going to the place. It’s more expensive but I found it to be less anxiety inducing for someone who has never hired a prostitute ever. And since payment wasn’t handled until the girl arrived I wasn’t too worried about getting scammed. I made the reservation through LINE and despite messaging them in Japanese they could tell I was a foreigner and asked me if I could speak Japanese. To which I told them I could to some degree and if the girl can’t speak English it wouldn’t be a problem. The process was a bit of a hassle but in the end the experience was great and I’ll probably do it again when I go later this year lol. Especially now that my Japanese has improved quite a bit. Just be sure to check a lot of different places thoroughly before deciding to contact them and it’s good to be a little above beginner level in Japanese language.

Actually some are licenced for 'full service' but there is a limited number, and apparently the government refuses to issue permits for more than the ones already in business. The permits usually are reportedly bound to the address too. So for a non-full service company to expand into full service; they would require purchasing a pre-approved premises. That said; according to the other news article i saw about it; even non-full service facilities don't have a whole lot of restrictions - pretty much everything elsee is fair game, except the one place at the front down below. Also the girls preferences are taken into account too. There are loopholes tho, some 'host' clubs offer 'extras' which they can claim was 'not on company time' (ie officially she was off work when anything happened) and sometimes the girl may offer to 'walk home' a particularly valuable client. Really it is like any other country in that respect probably.
