Florence Price is remembered as the first African-American woman to be recognized as a symphonic composer and to have a work performed by a major orchestra. We remember her for her enormous body of work that spans many genres, including symphonies, concertos, art songs, chamber pieces, and instrumental solos. We are sharing our recording of Florence Price’s "Piano Concerto in D minor in One Movement", performed by members of The United States Air Force Band’s Symphony Orchestra and featuring the talents of pianist Michelle Cann. We hope you enjoy!

About the Lincoln Theatre
Built in 1922 as a segregated movie house on U Street, N.W. - which came to be known as “Black Broadway” - the Lincoln Theatre brought the latest top Hollywood films directly to Washington’s Black audiences for the first time, since our Nation’s Capital was segregated then. In the century since, the theatre has catered to musical, theatrical, and comedic artists, boxers, cinema stars, presidents, and hundreds of thousands of patrons from all walks of life. In recognition of the centennial of the Lincoln Theatre, Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser issued an official proclamation, congratulating the theatre on its 100th Anniversary and for serving as a “center of Washington, D.C. arts, culture, and entertainment.” The history of the Lincoln Theatre can be found at www.thelincolndc.com/history/.
