When is the last time you had to put 60 gallons in 5 yards to make it workable? Did you notice how fast it was drying? Thank goodness we were just doing very small pour. If we weren't I maybe would of had to reject it. I DID NOT LOSE THAT TINY PAD MY TRAINEE MARCELLE DID. I REFUSED TO EDGE OR BROOM IT. THATS WHY IT WAS TRAINING PAD. WATCH THE TIME LAPSE AND REALIZE I SPENT MASSIVE TIME OVER THERE COULD HAVE COMPLETED PAD 2 TIMES OVER. IM TEACHING. HE JUST COULDNT DO IT. I KEPT RESETTING IT OVER AND OVER FOR HIM. I HOPE YOU CAN UNDERSTAND NOW IF IT WASNT CLEAR ALREADY. MY WAY OF TRAINING I DIDNT SUCCESSFULLY DO THE DRY TIGHT MUD SIDEWALK IN THE SUN THEN FAIL TO FINISH THE WET ONE YARD IN THE SHADE WITH DAY 1. TO ME THIS IS COMMON SENSE BUT I CAN SEE THE COMMENTS COMING ALREADY. LOOSE BRAINS. I lied to marcelle told him I couldnt go over to his pad hardly. That he had to do it. 2 months in have to improve somehow. This concrete has a bunch of micro fiber in it. I poured this mix all summer per what my employers previously ordered before me. The micro fiber here is like adding 2% accelerator. Been around concrete a long time. I dropped the fiber as of 10/7/22 until I find another solution. Everything has always turned out good but its been harder then it needs to be. And almost impossible teaching / learning conditions. Beware of your micro fiber and amount. I will update with type of micro fiber later.

You can tell that mud was going to be tight by listening to the truck hydraulic pump working hard. The drum revolutions were pretty darn slow when adding water. Might not be getting a good mix when adding water. Is driver really putting in amount of water requested? Check water gauge to see if his tank is full then check after add water. Drivers chutes look like he don't care with all that build up. Maybe his fins are the same way creating more heat inside drum heating up your mud. Last but not least your supplier might be reselling old mud left in the drum from last job. That's BS if they are. Another thing are they using reclaimed water in the mix? That will act like daraset and go off like crazy. I'd be calling the batch plant and be adamant about no left over concrete, no reclaim water on slow pours or while you're training especially. Yeah first thing you want to do is have an ear for the mud and listen for the trucks hydraulic pump working hard. You can actually see the truck rocking back and forth with stiff mud rocking and when its wet it smooths out and the barrel has a nice revolution spin to it. If that driver put in 60 gallons on a 6 yard load it should have changed the slump by 10 inches. 6 gallons would be one inch right? From a 3 inch slump that would have been slop. That didn't happen did it? Sucks when you don't get what you ask for in a slump and good fresh concrete. Hope your trainee makes it, seems like a good kid.
@LucidMindtv2 жыл бұрын
Yes because recently I put 40 gallons into 5 yards myself and it barely got any looser then blew up. Not a fun mix but a fun mix at the same time. I changed the mix up I either need a plastisizer or retarder to counter act the 2 lb a yard micro fiber. So I just took it out for now as plastic shrinkage is least of our concerns at this point. I will re introduce it next summer in a different fashion. Thanks for the comment. Mostly the problem is a rich dark concrete that seems to have a bit less working time and with a bunch of micro fiber in it it just blows up and doesnt stay wet. Not sure why they brining me 2 inch slump but they have stopped for now. Well we will see tomorrow again I got 20 yards coming.
@LucidMindtv2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I put 6 but it was actually just 5 yards in both videos I put tons of water in. HOT MUD the first video of this channel.
@mikeRJCP2 жыл бұрын
@@LucidMindtv thanks for the reply. Yeah that micro fiber can hold the mud together somewhat, a retarder would help. You guys use much fly ash or just straight cement? We used to have what we called a summer mix requested by a lot of contractors which had fly ash and the winter mixes mostly straight cement. We used a lot of recycled water and weren't supposed to tell the customer...BS I let them know every time as to not catch them off guard. Big footings it really don't matter but flat work and exposed especially ain't cool. The batch tags had an asterisk in loads with reclaimed water so the company could keep track how much they were getting rid of . Good luck tomorrow ,hope Marcelle has a good day too.

@LucidMindtv yea man concrete is a crazy business. Shit GOES DOWN some times haha no amount of planning can prepare for the random shit we have to deal with. I often consider setting up my gopro to record work, too, given the craziness of some pour days. My current boss doesn't know what preparation is tho 🤣 this week I poured a pad meant to be the floor of an office inside an airplane hanger; the office tho is elevated about 15ft off the ground. So we called in pump trailer guys and we finishing edges from skidsteer bucket and fork lifts lmao. Well the pump guy stacked it about a half inch too high on the edges and we only got 3 guys doing all this so we just mash it with a come -along and screed fast as we can to get poured out(boss conveniently hit us with 2% calcium mix and pump guy pouring us at like a 3 after we have requested more water multiple times). By the time we get poured out and I come back around to find the edges are still high i am literally standing on the pad kicking my boots across it to try n tear it down enough to be flat cuz the mag ain't cutting it 🤣 I mean sometimes you just gotta laugh so you don't cry lol but I'm learning with this new job that not every company has the same quality standards. I never should've wasted my time trying to get that grade right cuz I'm the only one that cares. Bossman don't care, it'll either get tore out or it wont; idk how he can care so little but I gotta stop trying to care in place of him, I ain't getting paid for it, not even a thanks good job

I would like to see you have 1 more guy that knows what hes doing while you get the new guy all trained up. He needs to learn to rake mud before he learns to finish it. Good job though and very entertaining. Thats just my 2 cents

Been trying to hire reliable finisher since last winter. Seems no one wants to work right now.. Thanks for the comment.
