I’m planning on a concrete finish on my self-build home. But I’m pouring the slab from new. Can I achieve this level of beauty without the need of grinding the product down after. This is one of the best floors I’ve seen on KZbin. I’m from the uk and remember visiting nasa in Florida. Don’t know how they did it but they have a floor there under the space shuttle that’s an undulating polished black floor. Best I’ve ever seen ( apart from the floor exhibited in this video of corse).

Thank you for the compliment. Unfortunately, that finish cannot be achieved unless it is grinded multiple times, Unless there's a process I'm not aware of.

Floor looks great. I’m redoing a 60,000 square foot floor for the first time and this just confirmed in my mind that I’m not capable of doing it lol. What is an good price per foot for a good quality polished concrete floor? We used a floor scraper to get up all the tile and the floor is very flat in good shape.

First of all, thank you for all your videos. I got a lot of information. I do have a question. Had my floors in my home polished, they started at a low number and was working up on the third day, it's when they vacuumed the floor and then applied a sealer of some sort, rectifier or something like that which brought out the shine and they said it was making it harder. That's when we noticed that some marks became apparent on the floor. Those marks were from tape that the general contractor had put down paper in some area to hold it in place. That tape had been there for a few weeks in full sun and they used a heat gun in order to pull it up because it was sticking to the floor at this stage. Those are very evident in the floor once they got complete. Do you know of any way to get those stains out? I hope I'm asking the right questions and explain
@ConcreteFloorSolutions
@ConcreteFloorSolutions 2 ай бұрын
@@MartyHuie I understand completely, we had that happen on one of our projects before also. Unfortunately, stains are stains and typically are not able to be removed.

So rather than watching videos,do you have any type of hands on training by chance? I have looked into a few different courses that are roughly $1500 a person for 5 day courses. Do you have any recommendations? You are obviously incredibly knowledgeable and that is so important when talking to customers.

@jackhodges1030

Why is it sometimes you put down a grout coat on polished floors and sometimes you don't? And can you tell if you're going to need a grout coat before you get into the job.
@ConcreteFloorSolutions
@ConcreteFloorSolutions 4 күн бұрын
@@jackhodges1030 very good question, some concrete is very porous and sometimes you can tell before you start the job that you will need a grout coat. Sometimes you don't know at all until you start grinding, and when you look real closely you can see the pores opening up within the concrete. If you don't see the pores opening, typically you do not need the grout coat. The grout coat simply fills all those little microscopic holes / pores. I always say Concrete is consistently inconsistent..

@ConcreteFloorSolutions
@ConcreteFloorSolutions 7 ай бұрын
there are MANY factors. Location, access, repairs?, joints? hard or soft concrete, coating removal, disposal or dust, power supply, grout coat needed? edging? gloss required, is the concrete smooth. (high and low spots affect the final look, uneven stone exposure). can range anywhere from $15 per sq.ft. for a small job to $3 per sq.ft. for a large job. We typically can polish 1,000 sq.ft. per day on average with a 32" grinder. 9 step, not including staining.

It is all about consistency. If you do your first grind and you see heavy stripes with inconsistencies, you need to grind the opposite direction one more time. The more consistent you grind your floor, the better it will look when you’re done

Would the project moved along quicker if you used a 16 grit diamond on first pass rather then the 40?
@ConcreteFloorSolutions
@ConcreteFloorSolutions Жыл бұрын
Maybe, but then on the next pass you need to remove the 16 grit diamond scratches, which are typically much deeper than 40 grit. Every slab reacts differently. I'm not saying there is a right or wrong, everybody has their own technique. That is what I happened to choose for that job.

The perimeter was the customers choice. Either hand grind the whole perimeter 10 times at a cost of +/-$5,000 additional or install a High performance urethane border at 1/2 the cost. Its MUCH easier than hand grinding, especially all the corners and down vents for the exhaust in the floor. Here is a link to the urethane, Black. concretefloorsolutions.com/store/urethanes/cfs-high-performance-urethane/

Hello! For how long you let the guard dry before using the burnisher? And how fast do you walk the burnisher, what pace?
@ConcreteFloorSolutions
@ConcreteFloorSolutions 2 жыл бұрын
The guard normally dries within 5 or 10 minutes, (depends on temp and humidity) you can actually see it dry it happened so quickly. Remember it needs to be applied at approximately 2000 ft.² per gallon, super thin or else it gets streaky. A slow stroll is how I would describe my pace with the burnisher with a +/- 6" overlap.

man you guys are good ,let me ask you this when i need to stain i stop at 200 hybrids clean the floor, stain and densify but when i start polishing with 400s resins i notice that still taking a layer of the floor which i think makes the stain fades off ,now i am thinking to do all that after 400s then clean, stain and densify then run 800/1500s guard and burnish, any advise will be appreciated
@ConcreteFloorSolutions
@ConcreteFloorSolutions 2 жыл бұрын
I have always applied acetone based stain at 400 grit because I was afraid of grinding off the stain. After I apply stain and denify, I run a 800 grit Fenix pad then guard then burnish to 1500 grit. That is what we have been doing and that is what was done in that video.

How do you price out each concrete floor do you have price list per sqft
@ConcreteFloorSolutions
@ConcreteFloorSolutions 3 жыл бұрын
There is no way you can give a set price per square foot. All concrete reacts differently. Here is a list of factors that I look at before I give a price. Job location, ease of access to the work area, is the concrete hard or soft, are there any repairs, are there joints and do they need to be filled, do they want stain, does the concrete need a grout coat, what grit finish do they want, how much edging is there, and then just the overall feel of how long the job may take. I can almost assure you, if it is an active construction site, you will be in everybody’s way, or they will be in your way the entire time. A large floor 20,000 square-foot is approximately three or four dollars per square foot average.
