Handy technique to know about, thanks Mike! Using the edger makes sense -- I'm sure a lot of people would just till the space, smooth the whole thing over with a trowel and maybe sponge it -- but soon the crack along the edges would appear. This was a simple but worthwhile thing to know about and thanks for demonstrating it.

Cool video Mike. The end result is really beautiful. I like how easily you cut the channel. That's something I plan to remember for the future. I hope your knee didn't get too sore from being on that concrete without a pad. It was painful for me just watching lol. I imagine that the drier mix also helped reduce shrinkage and cracking? The question I have is when using that drier "pool mix" is it necessary to keep moistening it for a few days to keep the new patch "fed"?

Hello Mike, thanks for the new video. I have couple of question related to this job: 1) I have an impression the conduit is placed too shallow - it looks like it's not even an inch of concrete above it - is it correct? I think there is a sweet spot between depth of conduit and not ruining structural integrity of the concrete slab, but that shallow placement doest't seem right to me. What do You say? 2) I see this time You didn't wet the concrete before patching it, and I am a bit confused remembering you saying "You want it stick, you gonna make it wet" - help me understand why it was not needed to wet the concrete this time. I am learning a lot from You and really want to understand. Thank You in advance.

Hi krzy, first thing is it's a sidewalk and no heavy traffic is going over it, and second I was using regular portland and sand so it would match the color, if I was using rapid set it would have been done quickly and I probably would gave to paint it with portland to match. Wetting it would have been messy and it dosent have to stick. Because it's packed, I could have done it like you said I wouldn't matter, but this is florida so not worried about frost getting under it and lifting it up, thanks Mike
