Joey Joey Joey .... smashing up one of my favourite knives you cruel man. I was actually a bit nervous watching this one, so I am glad it didnt do too badly. I am actually impressed that you managed to break the pommel because that is solid steel and part of the knife. To be fair, I think it will always snap at that mid point, and it isn't necessarily a "flaw". A kukri is basically a bunch of different design trade-offs, that results in a large, long knife, where the main chopping section of the blade is aligned to the angle of the forearm, and the bulk of the entire mass is at the front. The gooseneck is always going to be the thinnest part. If you thicken it, you will basically end up with a bent broadsword. Maybe I'm rationalising the failure, who knows. FYI this was a design collaboration between Joe Flowers at Condor, and Alan Kay, the winner of the Alone tv show. He is a hardcore kukri fan. Ok, after watching you destroy a K-TAC I think I need to go off and have a little cry .... Thank you for your fine work sir

hey, thanks for the info, i personally don't like this blade, but this is just me!!!! cheers!
@TheWtfnonamez2 жыл бұрын
@@joex You are very welcome mate. I think Kukris are a marmite thing tbh. The design comes from Nepal. Basically its evolved from an agricultural tool like many weapons. Its a way to combine an axe, knife, and weapon, all into one tool. The blade aligns with the forearm angle to reduce wear and tear on the users wrist and maximise the delivery of chopping force. Traditionally (and with this one), the blade is sharpened at different angles at the front, and close to the handle. You do fine work close to the handle, and use the end of the blade for chopping. Great video mate

@@joex in my opinion joe kukri are one of those designs you love or you hate. I've found they require a lot of messing with to get them to preform right. Where other designs comes naturally.
