That's a great DIY video! I like how you added in the tools you need and alternative options to remove the stock steering coupler! I agree with what you said about enlarging the holes for the bolts. You don't want to take too much material that will weaken the area. Definitely don't want any fatigue or cracks! Looking forward to the next video!

+Carlos Orozco hey thanks man! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and agree with me! 🙏

To anyone replacing this, make sure to remove the bolts completely. There is a grove on the spine that the bolt rests against. It will prevent you from removing the coupler no matter how much you bang on it.

Thanks for this video. I inspected mine and it was just as soggy as yours. I got a solid e34 coupler instead because shipping rates to europe are expensive.

+Captain Crook you're welcome! And that sucks shipping is expensive, but I'm glad the e34 solid coupler worked for you as well!

Need help, just did my with factory coupling, but I had the same off center steering wheel like you, about 2 to 3 inch towards the right, what did you do to fix it? I would hate to pull that thing off again... it was a pain.

What up man. Trying to have everything ready for when mine gets here is the reason for the question. Anyway, what size drill bit did you use to make the holes bigger for the bolts it came with? Also, how did you end up tightening the bolt that was covered by the couple?

dat steering wheel alignment haha. love it

+Tedward oh yeah 😂. Calls for another diy!

@pawinning Am i right to think that it doesnt matter if u mark up the coupler like you did with the sharpy? I guess it only matters if u move the steering wheel while the couple is off ... amirite?
@Pawinning6 жыл бұрын
Yes you’re right, but bear in mind that separating the coupler allows the steering wheel to spin freely. Being off a couple teeth on the rack can translate to the wheel being very off centered

Pawinning ah, so might be better to lock the steering wheel with a aligning locker or something. I wanna upgrade mine too a poly also... Good to see this diy.

The bigger question is how this compares to a new rubber bushing rather than comparing it to a 20 years dead piece of rubber. Whether poly is adding unnecessary vibration to the steering.

Actually since then condor has created an entire shaft replacement that eliminated the need for this coupler. I'd recommend that over this product due to a superior design 👌

Condor speed sent me the wrong product twice , no note just saying
