Re: what the fuck is going on in Japan, the Japanese market isn't really able to compete on sheer quantity so they focus on being the guys who make extremely high quality stuff in small batches. Stuff like Wagyu beef allows them to compete in the meat market without needing acres and acres of land to raise cattle on.

Wagyu is interesting because it's only expensive after export. That shit is cheap and everywhere in Japan. Its price is purely from great international marketing. They have quite a few products like that.

JA, Japan agriculture, aggressively controls the price, quality, and imports of fruit. Japan could easily import cheap fruit from the Philippines if not for JA's lobbying. Most pricey Japanese fruit is just fine. Japan also has a lot of banned food additives legal.

With the butter bark thing you could probably break it up into pieces and use it as a dry component for cookie baking since bacon's saltiness goes well with sweets sometimes, and the butter was browned so it has an enhanced flavor. Not sure if it loses some of those properties from being frozen after browning but its not useless as a prep idea. Eating it raw on the other hand... Btw im not a baker or anything, just theorizing

Coney. I will pay you to PLEASE, next time you are near Kentucky, go to Stellians in Central City. It has an 8 lbs pizza that every topping is another pound. On top of that, their shakes all have either a piece of pie or a little Debbie’s snack on them. I got pork rines and onion rings the last time I went and they gave me a whole onion and a salad bowl full of pork rines. It is the most insane proportions I have ever seen from a restaurant.
