I remember my mum telling me that when we went to Disney in the early 2000's (I was only a toddler then) that two blokes stole an old woman's purse and had made a dash for it, my dad giving chase. My mum then runs up to one of the security guards and tells him what happened, he looked in the direction the thieves went, then back at her and said "Don't worry madam, they wont make it out of here", a few minutes later my dad was walking back to us, with the thieves who were being escorted by two other men who worked for the Disney secret services.

I have incredibly mixed feelings for that English family tho. If I were in Swoo’s shoes, I’d probably have done the same thing, and I’d feel terrible for having to play the bad guy. Even if it wasn’t their fault, there’s nothing I could do besides giving them my condolences. Those rules are in place for a reason. Making one exception might seem harmless enough, but you let one late family in, and then you could have like 50 late families begging to let you in. It’s a slippery slope that’s not worth risking.

Yeah, that is true. Even if you tried to keep it a secret, the place is so crowded that any guest or manager could have seen you do it and you would get written up or fired on the spot. Plus, if you need the money and you're one of the only POCs there, you'd risk looking bad and losing your chance to earn a decent amount of money.

I worked Epcot Festivals and Star Wars:Galaxy’s Edge. I was guest flow at GE for the opening of Rise of the Resistance and we had a virtual queue, which filled up within 20 minutes of rope drop. The sheer number of people who would get upset with me for not letting them on the ride was crazy. So many people told me that I ruined their vacation that I eventually had a competition with some of my co-workers to see who ruined the most vacations.

So this is totally full-circle, but I remember watching this video way back when I was young and impressionable. When you said to be “the best employee you could be,” I actually took that to heart. I remember getting a job at a really big tech company and applied that philosophy day in and day out, all because of you. All because I watched this video. The job didn’t entirely work out, but coming back to watch this full circle... man, I remember how hard I was trying. Funny story, I went to Disney a few weeks ago, and I walk up to a manager who is praising an employee, and I just say in a voice like Swoozie' s whispering voice "Disney's secret service". The manager walks up to me and asks "How did you learn about that?" My mom and her friend sat on a bench talking for two hours while my friends and I were going around, and someone came up to them and started asking them questions about if they had kids, where there kids are, what they are doing, why are they just sitting there, like really more questions than a curious stranger would ask.

So two girls on a field trip to Universal a few years ago went into a gift shop and stole something (I forget what, maybe jewerly or something), and the secret service people, who are, of course, dressed up to look like every other visitor there and blend in, saw them and followed them, then when they caught the two they went to our band teacher and told them what happened and that they wanted to bring the two girl's parents here to Universal to pick them up. But my band teacher convinced them that the parent's don't need to go and pick them up (it is at the very least a hour drive from the school, probably two hours, actually, imagine if your parents had to drive that long while thinking their child did an attempt in shoplifting) and so at the end the two girls had to sign a contract that if the two ever stepped on Universal property again they would get a fine (a big one). The rest of the field trip the two did nothing and the band teacher had to watch over them. Then my band teacher said when they got back to school the dean would decide their punishment, and, of course, the parent's would have their own punishment also for their child.

So true about the Secret Service. My girl and I just spent last week in DW, and I was spotting guys left and right that were dressed in jeans/T-shirts, but with sunglasses and hats on, hanging up on walls. They literally had *earpieces* in, and the first time I saw one I thought I was being crazy. I started getting close to him, saw the earpiece, and then he made me. I got followed around Animal Kingdom for two hours, from the Yeti ride to the safari and all the way to Dino USA. They're creepy :X
