Love him. Always found him to be a colorful character and so dynamic & vital in REM. Just one thing...always thought he had sad eyes.

Great artist. R.e.m are the greatest American band of all time and for michael to walk away from that must be gut wrenching. I,m sure its a great feeling leaving your mark on history the way he and r.e.m have, very few are so fortunate

In the early days of R.E.M., Michael Stipe apparently could barely get a word out. An interview with the band members in Spin Magazine quoted him interrupting himself to speculate about an amusement park where all the attractions were trees to climb. I’m so glad to see that he’s remained so imaginative and at the same much better able to communicate.

Michael, all art that we create is important. I've loved you since 1982. Your art leaves ripples and affects young people today. My children in their 20's -influencing government and politics -they were brought up on your music.

Thánk you for sharing with me. I perceive Michael Stipe as a véry géntle, béáútiful person and as someone else has said...sad eyes...i could see the way he sang my fávourite song "To the one I love" one time...i could see the déép personal hurt in his face while he sang it... i'm véry, véry sórry for him...i think he is a wónderful person.... i pray for you Michael.... i réálly dó...my heart álways goes out to hurting people...they were always the ones i chose as my friends since early in primary school even.... may you find and experience the trúé and pérsonal fatherly and also brotherly love and rest of my Savior Jesus Christ. I knów He lives and that He is ábsolutely wónderful and grácious because He persued and captured mý heart that way and revealed Himself to me. He is réálly GOD....but you can approach Him....áll who call upon the name of Jesus shall be saved (just for the record in case whosoever doesn't know😘) i also lóve Michael's béáútiful creativeness... évery good and béáútiful gift comes from above from the Father of lights🌌yóú are a BÉÁÚTIFUL SPÉCIAL EXQUISITE person Michael...a béáútiful, géntle person and bríght, shining star😊😊😊🙆😍😙may Jesus your Creator and Big Brother😉 reveal Himself to you in an ÁWESOME UNFÁTHOMABLE WAY Michael... may He júst LÓVE ÁLL your hurt away and STÁÝ with you FORÉVER AND ÉVER AND ÉVER so that you will NÉVER, NÉVER, ÉVER feel alone my PRÉCIOUS brother!!!!!!! 🙏🌄🙇

(a) Michael is not a Gemini; he's a Capricorn [01-04-1960]; and (b) While I'd never presume to know his mind, I believe "Martin Luther Zen" is a metaphor for radical new beginnings in the here & now. Martin Luther started the Protestant Reformation of Christianity & Zen is a sect of Buddhism concerned with being ever-present in reality, i.e. right here, right now.

I believe that REM would come back together for a tour if not for Michael. I say that as I big fan of the band’s music. I understand why they decided to quit. They were burnt out. They paid their dues and deserved a break. Life is too short not to be happy.

If doing his music wasn't making him happy, why do you guys say things like "I wish he'd put out a new album" Sounds to me like he's done with that stage of his journey. Everyday we have the freedom to start something new. Butcher, baker...candlestick maker. I wish him much success. Or even better than success...I wish him~~ BLISS~~

his 'gemini energy' are you kidding?!?! I sincerely hope so, or next ur going to be telling me what the lines in his palm read. Arrogance is hard to mask indeed, & yes it's mostly facutal to say, most celebrities are NOT humble, but Stipe is a bit over the top w/ the false humility-hipper than thou charade. I dare to assert that you do not 'Know' this man either?

Only my opinion.Never got into them.I see them as average musicians using basic patterns and chords and arrangement. Taking themselves too serious. Talking way too much about themselves all th time . They think their lyrics are so poetic and meaningful. Spending too much time contradicting themselves and all other opinions that come their way thinking that it's cool instead of practicing their guitars and drums. For me it was supposed to be for the music not for the hype. They should listen more to Neal Peart and Phil Lynnot both incredible players and lyricist.
