I am a big fan of REM, and at a time I used to be kind of homophobic, you know making fun of them because it was the "macho thing" to do, but then Michael Stipe revealed his sexuality and made question everything. If he was one of my idols, and one of the coolest people on earth, there's nothing wrong with homosexuality. I was the one who was wrong. I love Michael Stipe, and I always will. He has helped me be a better person.

The questions and relations are relevant but he has the same problem many interviewers have of not letting the interviewee share their perspective beyond what the interviewer wants to hear so he can insert his segway to bandx/elementx. The guy obviously understands a lot about a lot though, so I can understand why he wants to jump in and add his own clarification as if it's a normal conversation.

I remember when he came out, it had to have been hard on his career but even harder for him to hold it in. It's not that people want to let everyone know about their sexual activity, it's that when they love someone they want them to be accepted. They don't want to hide them or that part of themselves that loves. Nothing dirty or wrong about it. Love is good and should be acceptable, at the very least tolerated, but never condemned.

@@ermertieplug considering the fact that LGBTQ is a minority of the population, it doesn't require any acknowledgement nor does it necessarily make a difference to people who are straight because it doesn't concern them. See the problem with this situation and it always has been is that there have been people who tell others to hate people who are not the "norm," and that is the main issue. Earth is full of diverse human beings. Not all are the same, but we all share the same common DNA which makes us human. We should respect what people decide they want, but it's not necessarily up for debate or discussion, but it should rather just be accepted as long as they are not evil. That's the only thing to judge someone for. Other than that, sexuality shouldn't determine any view in a positive or negative light.
