I can relate to what Sara said about the conflict in getting married and losing your way or finding your potential. I went through the same thing. I've found my partner later in life and he's the person that helps and supports me in being my true self and achieving my goals. I am now at piece with myself and it feels great.

Oh my God, can I ever relate to the inner struggle about getting married ... if I do it, if I allow a man to "take care of me" then I may never know my full potential. Wow! Perfectly said!!!

Generational shift: I am in my 60s, I grew up in the 50s and 60s with my Mom and Dad in a small town in Texas. I clearly remember my mother coming home white-lipped and shaking with rage because she had found a great used car (an advertised loss leader, sure to be gone in only hours) and was not allowed to put a deposit down on the car without prior written permission of her husband. Naturally, the car was gone by the time my Dad could get to the dealership to see it. They drafted up a generic letter for her to carry in her purse at all times. Thank God none of us face that any more!
