CONFIRMED NEXT Transformers Movie will be GI Joe Crossover 100%

In the wake of Transformers One positive reviews, we get a confirmation for what is next for Transformers films in 2025. The next Transformers Live Action Movie will be a GI Joe Crossover like they originally teased during Transformers Rise of the Beasts, but is it a good idea?

The upcoming Transformers-G.I. Joe live action movie should be done like how Skybound is doing the Energon Universe G.I. Joe: 1) Transformers are integrated with the humans. Transformers are not the sideshow. If you've seen the Skybound Energon Universe G.I. Joe promos, then you've seen how Hot Rod will probably be used. If you've read the Kobra Commander mini-series, then you saw the big Transformers reveal in issue #1. If you've read the Skybound Duke mini-series, then you know what trauma Duke has. And what Duke thinks about the Transformers. 2) This movie does NOT need to do an origin for the Joes or for Kobra. You can easily introduce the Joes and Kobra with one sentence each.

Considering how easily Lorenzo di Bonaventura is brushing aside Transformers One and not getting excited about a sequel shows that he needs to step down. It's time to replace Lorenzo di Bonaventura with someone else. Lorenzo di Bonaventura committed the BIGGEST error with RotB: He didn't approve the budget to have alt modes and robot modes for ALL of the Transformers. Hasbro has to make up a robot mode for RotB Airazor. And because the CGI models in RotB were constantly being screwed around with, Hasbro had NO FINAL CGI models to use to make the RotB toys. It's no wonder so much of the RotB toys did NOT align with the movie.

The problem with a GIJoe/TF crossover movie is that the GI Joe set up needs to be fleshed out prior to a crossover. There is no room for character development in a crossover - like Avengers, it should be the culmination of several previous movies where individuals, their motives and the overall MacGuffin are clearly established. The crossover then allows for lots of mindless fun. Hasbro really needs to be paying attention to what Paramount is doing here.

there only one good way of getting this movie to work for both fans like us and the mainstream, and that is to kind of remake the 2007 movie but with hints of the IDW Comic "All Hail Megatron". My Idea is have this movie focus on Megatron and the Decepticons actually being a big threat that the bumblebee movie hinted at, maybe have the Joes and the Autobots join forces against the Decepticons and maybe have a post credit scene that hints at Cobra being the villains in a GiJoe solo film. on the toy side, focus on the human alliance side that they did for the first few movies, have the figures actually able to interact with one another, maybe the Autobots get somekind of Joe style vehicle modes, maybe the joes will get somekind of exo suit like Noah in ROTB, play around with that rather then focusing on one or the other side of the coin

You mean the crossover, I don't want Paramount doing a crossover with Gijoe, they don't respect character personalities and likeness, and if you do that to Gijoe, then it's meaningless. If you can't recognize Joe characters then it's a useless use of branding because Gijoe is absolutely character based, you can not reinvent the characters like what they continue to do with Transformers. Transformers One is finally something done right, it would be refreshing if the doubled down on right and started to value legacy fans and come around to understanding the value of legacy fans of any Brand they decide to jump into. Transformers live action has been spiraling because they think their farts don't stink.

I truly feel like Hasbro has no idea what to do with this brand anymore. I’m a huge transformer fan have been since the very first episode, but the marking department has no idea how to get transformers fans excited, I wasn’t even planning on seeing Transformers one because of the terrible commercials until after I’ve heard all the great reviews now I’m psyched I truly believe the future is animated go back to what makes franchise so great !

Actually, thats kinda true. Both Bumblebee and ROTB had less major human characters; mainly just Charlie and technically Memo, and couple others in Bumblebee, and mainly Noah, Elena, and a couple others in ROTB. Between both movies, mainly just Charlie, Noah, and Elena. And both BB and ROTB are the best TFs live-action movies. @hoopa

Agreed. Overall, Bumblebee is better than ROTB by a little, but they’re both very, very solid films. They’ve been heading into the right direction. They’ve made good progress, but Lorenzo just wants to throw that out the window for no reason. I do hope Transformers 3 is good tho, for the Reboot-verse’s sake

I was a little bit disappointed when Megatron wasn't in ROTB. If he isn't in the Joe/Transformers movie. Even after Scourge's demise. Then I don't know if I want to see it. Because Cobra doesn't feel like he would be much of a challenge for the Transformers. We even missed out on a perfect chance for Megatron to interact with Unicron in ROTB. Could have had a proper live action telling of Megatron changing into Galvatron.

Doesn’t matter if it’s animation or live action. One isn’t better than the other. All that matters is a strong focus on storytelling. That’s why people are enjoying TFONE. Its excellent writing from people who know how to tell a compelling story anybody could get into.

I'm not sure if Paramount would be the ones making the next Transformers movie. With news about some parts of that company falling apart and laying off people. I see the next movie being sold off to a different company and/or being delayed for a later date.

And then somehow they meet all together somehow. And that would be an hour. And then the next half an hour we figure out what's going on. And everybody's getting together and going to fight each other. People are going to die Transformers are going to die. Obviously. There will be smashing and special blow up effects. Lot of gunfire. Probably some sword fights too. And then at the end of the movie GI Joe and Autobots win the day, and Cobra and Decepticons retreat. Two and a half hours. The end.

*an excessive number of humans. Remember, there has been great human characters in these movies. Well, just Charlie, Memo, Burns, Charlie’s family, Noah and his family, and Elena. Mainly, Charlie, Noah, and Elena, tho. Hopefully going forward, the Transformers are the main, MAIN focus, couple main, important humans such as Noah secondary, then background or unimportant humans, like, quinary focus or something. Also, hoping Transformers 3 is good despite being the crossover

The only Rise of the Beasts toys lingering on the shelves are the cheap crappy ones they shouldn't have made in the first place. The mainline deluxes were Target exclusives that sold out immediately, and the voyagers were Walmart exclusives that also sold out immediately except for Rhinox, and Rhinox was the best toy in the line and arguably the best Rhinox ever made.

While I appreciate what the live action films have done for Transformers as a brand on the whole, I think De Bonaventura needs to either move on to other projects or take a huge step back and let someone else run point on the movie front. I hope for the best with this crossover but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't pessimistic about it.

The thing about ROTB toy-wise, is is that it'd came out around a time where supply lines/chains weren't all that great. Wheeljack is shelfwarming over here, for multiple reasons. The wings already are made out of clear plastic - fragile - but the character's figure should've came out earlier. I should've saw Mirage (any mirage) near me - but I didn't, because supply lines are still kinda sucky. It's a good thing Transformers One pulled at all the stops, though I wish they would STOP with the gimmick figures and focus on Warrior Class or "prime changers" as they're being called, now. Focus on Studio Series and Warrior Class. Maybe get some Core Class figures out here and there? I don't know - they have all 2025, I'd heard HasTak plan and think about these things early/in-advance. I want ROTB et al to sell and sell well, just, HasTak should stop with the dumb choices. Not related to the Movieverse, but my Netflix Optimus Prime, in several areas, broke on me. The QC issues are a dumb choice. Having sturdy and longlasting figures should be the goal.

For me, the crossover will be a toy sale sad day in hell, whatever the movie quality got to be. Their is no way they could put enough Joe's to make goof sale of toys without harming the Cyber character sheet. And, as you said, Hasbro is a toy business and if you can't put a lot of product on shelf that are visibly link to the movie, you sale maybe and not reel movie product. Remember in transformer DOMoon when they said that they were only seven autobots left, that hurt the sale. If you cant get a certain amount pf character on screen, you waste exposure and sale by the same way.

I just saw Transformers One, and this is the way forward for the brand. The film was absolutely phenomenal! When I saw the title for this video, I kinda groaned. I won't deny the Bay movies brought Transformers to the mainstream, but it's time to move on from live action.

Hmm...I don't think it'd do all that well for us Transformers fans, since G.I.Joe side will need alot of focus to just explain who they are, and their back story. So it feels like they're trying to use Transformers popularity & notoriety to respark the G.I.Joe intrest. Which is the wrong way to go. They really need to make a show that can take it's time to intraduce the characters and plot. this gives the audience time to create their own attachments to the franchise, and letting it grow on it's own merits. I'd think if they wanted to go this route they may want to lean into some of the Transformer's G2 designs for this. Not only would this give an excuse to bring back some of those old designs, but to give people something to refrence back to before seeing the movie. They could reprint those old crossover comics as part of the promotion of the film. Help create their own version of the MCU movie verse for these two franchises. Just my thoughts on it anyways.

Crossing the two brands is not a good idea for the big screen, if it were a TV show then it might work. I seen Rise of the Beasts in cinemas and its a ok film but suffers from what has plagued the other films, to many poorly written characters and the films devolving in CGI messes!! I yet to see TF one as its not due out in my country until next month and then I got another problem called cinema closure as mine is deemed unprofitable for the chain and travelling to the next closest is rather troublesome for a guy who doesn't drive!!

Even as someone who didnt like Mutant Mayhem and has no interest in TF One, its plain to see the way to get kids invested in these legacy properties now is by way of spiderverse-esque animated films. Pushing Gi Joe in live action failed because they didnt stick to the 80's Sunbow template close enough. Further deviation from that standard usually doesnt work either considering how the Renegades series was recieved (this despite how much I adored it). If we're doing a Joe crossover in feature film form, it should go out of its way to avoid live action and aim soley for animation. Take heavy inspiriation from the Tom Scioli crossover and sell kids on the over the top violence and tropey 80's action cliches alongside all the crazy kirby transformers imagery. For what its worth I think they should have done the same with Power Rangers 5 years ago

I think if they want to strictly a transformers move they should stick with the animated, because then they can follow the transformers. But if the want to do live action they should bring in gi-joe because if they have to follow the humans live action, at least the Joe’s are humans I care about. And I would be excited about that. I don’t want to follow some new made up human for every movie. Frankly some of the bay films had a transformers and gi-joe movie except it was just generic military. It would be cool to see a movie focused on Optimus Prime and General Hawk relating to one another on the burden of leadership.

I say scrap it and get to the TF One sequel. An animated movie with no humans to take up important screen time allowed for a proper Transformers story to be told that was on par with the comics and cartoons. One showed us that it is possible to get it right on the big screen. The last Joe movie had nothing going for it and bombed. Hasbro more than likely lost a lot of money on RotB thanks to how bad the toys sold and how much money they spent on the movie. One deserves a trilogy, not whatever they're cooking now.

Both Bumblebee and ROTB are very, very solid films and have been heading into the right direction. The progress is there! But Lorenzo wants to throw that out the window for no reason. I do hope Transformers 3 is good, tho, for the Reboot-verse’s sake. My non-negotiables for the movie are the following: 1: The main Autobots have to consist of Optimus, Bumblebee, Arcee, and Mirage. They can introduce or reintroduce another character or two, but those 4 have to be present and must be major characters. 2: Noah Diaz must be the main human protagonist. I like him as a character and he’s the only human that the Autobots trust fully (technically, Elena, too). Of course by the end of ROTB, Optimus is much more willing to trust humans in general, but my point remains. 3: The Decepticons must be major characters and the main villains (probably, as well as Cobra). My non-negotiables for the Decepticons are Megatron, Starscream, and Soundwave. My less, but still massive priorities are Thundercracker, Skywarp, and/or Transit, as well. 4: The movie MUST be more Transformers than G.I. Joe, but the Joes must still be done decently to benefit the movie, despite not being a fan of the Joes as a franchise. And, finally, 5: the Joes and Cobra must have already been a thing for a while prior; 10 years prior, at least. Both factions must have exposition on who they are: Keep it informational, yet minimal and concise. Up to a couple sentences each. And, I think that may be it. P.S. Unrelated, but I have yet to watch Transformers: One, but I really, really want to soon, I hope it’s good. It definitely looks good and has alot of potential.

I yet to see TF one as its not due out in my country until next month and then I got another problem called cinema closure as mine is deemed unprofitable for the chain and travelling to the next closest is rather troublesome for a guy who doesn't drive!!
