I like how Michael shows some maturity at the end of the confrontation with Stanley. It's a really nice contrast to his show-off, socially inept self. Really great moment, showing Michael's personal development. And i think, paradoxically, Stanley may have even gained a little bit of respect towards Michael, after he stood up to him

I understand Stanley tho. Michael can be an over the top boss and sometimes dealing with him everyday can be frustratring but I feel bad for Michael as well. In this case, he's still his boss. How much Stanley hated him, Michael is still his superior and he should respect him no matter what. Michael can be a little selfish and childish but he's a good boss. He treats his employees as his own family (expect Toby lol) and as much as possible doesn't want to fire anybody. I am amazed on how Michael handled this situation.

@@yevgeniyaleshchenko849 You think sycophancy and adhering to dogma is mature? How utterly hilarious. What fascinates me though is that out of all this useless shit you typed, not one sentence of it is a justification for your belief. You just state your opinion over and over again without argument and yet have the fucking gall to call me a child. Maybe when you realise that Micheal is the *fictional* boss not because of his superior skills or ability, but because of a society that is set up to benefit those who are already succeeding, you might understand how pathetic your attitude is. Why should people who are given a massive headstart in life be given this kind of "respect" when it isn't earned? I'm sure you don't give two shits who Niccolo Machiavelli is, but he wote an interesting quote: "It is not titles that honour people, but rather people that honour titles." What has Micheal Scott done to honour his title in Stanley's eyes? Nothing. Of course Stanley doesn't respect him, you would have to be an idiot to respect someone that you can see is massively incompetent. Its plain sycophancy to pretend to respect someone who you can see does not have the ability to manage. We should not be peasants who daren't question the decisions of our betters. That way of thinking is frankly backwards.
@mikestem30315 жыл бұрын
I really don't understand how the people in the office never see the good side of Michael, up until he leaves. So what? Jim and Pam don't have flaws? Or Dwight? Ok, Michael is offensive sometimes, actually lots of times, but couldn't one of them go to him as a friend and tell him that he could change that offensive behavior? Again, as a friend, not a critic. I am 99% sure, that would make Michael change a lot. That's what he was missing: friends, not subordinates, not critics. I think there was very poor friendship relations inside the office, considering how long they were together. Actually, I would not like a friend like Jim, Pam, or Dwight. I would like a friend like Michael (also Andy). Who agrees? :)
@limunadaa26595 жыл бұрын
The thing is that we watch the show and we love it but in real life he would be so annoying as a boss. Imagine yourself going to work you don't love that much, and you have boss that is delusional and have bad jokes and timing for jokes. IRL that would be annoying no matter how Michael is good and kind.
@fomohomobro5 жыл бұрын
They are subordinates after all, and there is a line you don't cross. It doesn't really reflect how they treat friends. When Pam co-founded in the Michael Scott Paper Company and is no longer a mere subordinate, you can actually see changes in her tones and honesty when she talks to Michael that is closer to a friend. Besides, if people actually came up to him, he would probably use his position of power to justify his actions anyways.

Sales. He's good at it. He's not a team player, you're right. That may also been the reason why he was never promoted to a managerial job. To be honest, I think Michael is the one who should have been fired a long time ago. He is a constant sexist, racist, and homophobic. But because those qualities in him aren't really harmful, I wouldn't consider those as factors to get him fired. What I would want him to be fired over though, is his actions that constantly hold back everyone's proficiency in their job. He does them every episode and is too many to count. If he didn't have above average employees like Jim, Dwight, Stanley, Angela, and Oscar, and didn't have very tolerating boss like Jan and Ryan had been, I bet his branch would have been closed down or absorbed a long time ago. His employees do their jobs right. But why does he procrastinate in doing his job? He also doesn't take half of what corporate asks him off seriously. He should have been demoted to a salesman a long time ago.

Micheal "does well as a boss" because the screenwriters says he does, which is because the U.S. office has no guts and isn't willing to use wit to satirize the real world for fear of alienating their audience by showing them reality. In the real world people with no social etiquette are not good managers. "Managing" people is essentially the art of weaponising social etiquette (Re: "Training") for capitalist purposes. @@danielbelcab I think he's the best salesman out there, that's why he earned the position. he may be a failure but he's one of the best salesmen. Remember "The Client" episode? It is their most important client and Jan picked Michael, not Jim, not Dwight.
@danielbelcab4 жыл бұрын
@@ronrivero1039 Jan herself was never trustful of Michael's ability. Actually, in that episode she was VERY surprised when Michael closed the sale, so it's not like she had high expectations herself. Even David Wallace had no explanation for how the Scranton branch was able to find success having Michael of all people as their manager -- pretty sure it's because of their few but very competent workers, since not even Michael could put into words how "he did it". Stanley's own lack of enthusiasm and focus is a reflection of Michael's inability to lead and show seriousness. He does crosswords during conference meetings because they rarely ever matter, which is why one of Jim's first decisions as co-manager was to demand that Michael stopped doing them because it was a waste of productive time. Creed doesn't even know what are his responsibilities inside the company, Kevin is borderline retarded, Ryan is both lazy and defiant, but you wanna talk about Stanley. You're rationalizing a show that plays with absurd and exaggerated characters, that's already senseless in itself. But if you wanna do it, do it all the way.

Stanley should be fired. You shouldn't get mad at a show, but when a guy doesn't do shit, disrespects his boss, and plays his shitty little game instead of participating in meetings, then tops it all off with getting mad when fired, I have to go on a rant...

Yes it does. We're not in the damn military and even there hierarchy for the sake of it is beyond stupid. Earn your authority or stop calling yourself a boss. Michael is a horrible boss and does distasteful things every episode and the people suffering every day because of him of COURSE do have a right to stand up to him. We don't live in a damn aristocracy.

Michael actually listens to his employees, which makes him empthatic and a great boss, he knows now that Stanley need the opposite treatment than he normally gives him. So he imidiately does th opposite of his normal self and stand up to him. Great sense of awareness here.

Samm Q nope Michael is not an asshole, he’s more like a kid in a mans body, he always want attention, he want everyone to like him and he doesn’t understand how to hide his feelings which lead him to be rude and arrogant to strangers that don’t know him well, if you haven’t noticed but everyone in the office felt sorry for Michael since he’s parent got divorced during his early childhood and he got used by other people with bad intentions like Jan.
